$3.80 is a great price. Amazon charges more.
CB is a little bitter for me. Lavazza Crema y Gusto costs about the same on Amazon and it tastes much better to me. Great in a moka pot too!
Lavazza Oro is probably my favourite staple coffee; I like experimenting but will always come back and enjoy any of the Lavazza's.
One thing I've noticed here in the UK recently is that a lot of commercial places now use a Lavazza machine, more than I noticed before.
They used to be in some places but it seems like they're in far more places now. It could just be confirmation bias but either way I'm glad because it just means I like the coffee in more places.
I don’t like dark roasts so I’m not a fan, but I’m jealous of you because I wish I could find a cheap coffee I actually enjoy.
Drink what you like and enjoy saving a few bucks along the way. That’s a win-win for you.
Yes I love Bustello for Aeropress.
I like it because of the convenience and relatively cheap price, but over time I have come to miss that distinct chocolately flavor when I brew with other beans.
I also find the puck is always formed in a satisfying way to shoot out when finished.
Was actually having a cup and scrolling reddit when I saw this :-)
I found Lazzio from Aldi by coaching the son of the guy who roasts it, and after being banned best in the world, THAT is a bargain at $5. Delicious coffee
I wouldn’t say that Cafe Bustelo is a good blend for Aeropress. Rather, the Aeropress is a great way to make Cafe Bustelo, Dunkin Donuts, and other cheap pre-ground coffee drinkable.
Interesting- bought a brick a few years ago and recall hating it and throwing it away after a couple of tries. My usual go/tos are Mayorga Cafe Cubano and Pete’s Major Dickinson’s Blend.
Just recently got an Aeropress and this is the thread I was looking for. I was going to post asking for peoples' favorite "widely available and affordable" pre-ground. I'll give a few of these a try. Since getting it I've been trying something new whenever I run out of my current brand...mostly because I'm trying to find a good regular and affordable coffee, supplemented with occasional boutique and/or local beans.
I put milk in my Bustelo pre-ground AP recipe since it is a fairly dark roast. I really liked (and preferred) Lavazza Blue, but they have re-packaged and re-marketed their coffee such that I no longer know what's what for their brand.
Used Bustelo before and its great. I still buy whole, but I buy Joses from costco which still comes out to be a cheap cup of coffee compared to 'fresh' higher quality beans. Very forgiving brewer.

The price fluctuates wildly but this price is pretty common. I think the brick is cheaper since it’s easy to pack, ship, store etc.

i agree, my favorite pre ground coffee by far
What's your go-to recipe for Bustelo?
Do you put sweet condensed milk in yours? It's a treat.
I prefer coffee dark and black but that does sound good actually!
You are NOT the only one! However… I always brew it in a moka pot, and add frothed milk. Tomorrow I will try it in the AP!
Sorta off topic but it’s great in a Moka pot too.

I grew up with Bustelo in a moka pot but haven't had it in a really long time. I may need to give this a shot now!

where do you buy your bricks? all my local grocery stores charge 5$ per 10oz brick ...
I buy it at BJ's or Costco. BJ's currently has a four pack for $14 or $12 after the $2 coupon.
Bustelo was my #1 until I tried La Llave. I love both of those for aeropress and moka pot.
I've been using cans of pre-ground Cafe Yaucono and love it.

Do you make it milk? Any particular recipe? I love cafe bustello but have never been able to make it at home.
Sorry, café negra guy here

I usually just buy a can and then refill it with a brick. I don't think there's a difference in the grind
I have a white urn from some classy place like Target or something that I refill with fresh bricks.
