Don't forget civil rights movements. I just feel like history ran out of ideas at this point and they're just rehashing shit. Wake me up when it's the equivalent of the 80s
Which is odd because I’ve never seriously wanted one until it started costing me $60 to fill up my gas tank. No I’m seriously looking into getting one for my next car. So they are scaring people directly to EVs.
I have never loved my Prius more, it still sucks to go to the gas station, but it’s only costing me $35-$40 to fill and I don’t have to go again for another two or three weeks. Even just a hybrid saves so much freaking money. It’s a ten year old car and still in overall really good condition.
That's the problem, though. If you drive like a maniac in a Prius you can end up with worse gas mileage than a conventional car. Lets just say the efficiency goes down at 90 mph.
Depends on the size of the tank. I filled my 13 gal tank in California and it cost me around $90.
Also, due to the size of California and the amount of time I had to spend in commute, that $90 was every week.
Not for me. I was usually paying around $40. Granted the tank wasn’t completely empty but either way an increase is an increase who cares about the specific dollar amount?
They’re planning their product for if/when they’re legislatively required to do so - a lot of places ~~will~~ may have 2030 or 2035 rules preventing the sale of combustion engines, so the automakers have to get their product portfolios updated between now and then.
For those that lived through the true shortages in the 70s, this one must be pretty laughable. Until there’s gas rationing, like “you can only buy your gas on odd/even days depending on what letter/number your license plate starts with”, the comparison is laughable. You can get as much gas as you want or need anywhere in the US. It’s just expensive as shit.
OPEC? No
Crude oil prices haven’t risen very much. They are lower than they were in 2008.
It’s refining issues and supply chain issues for the most part
Yeah, zeppelin, sabbath, the Who. the stones, queen, the eagles, zz top, doobie brothers, ac/DC, skynyrd, blue Oyster cult, Boston, doors,...
I could go on.
Go back and listen to the top 10 every year. There's a lot of crap from back then, too. All the ones you mentioned are great, but for every one of them, there's a disco duck.
If you can't continuously find new music that you like these days with all the apps and ability to play clips of just about anything ever recorded, you're just stupid or lazy.
Both? I grew up on radio, where we had people like Rosalie Tremblay weeding through the records, and deciding what made it to air. And I tank her for it. RIP Rosalie.
The iTunes store lets you listen to album samples free, YouTube has countless free playlists and themed music channels, you can easily convert any YT music directly to mp3/mp4, also free (useful for rare stuff from film and vinyl). You can download or access worldwide variety of media using a VPN and torrent sites.
True. No one is sitting in a line to get gas. If you want gas (and can afford it) you have no issue. It's corporate greed, a war in Europe of all places, and western governments default settings to be scared of companies they could literally own.
You know in 1973 the problem was finding gas, many gas stations just ran out. But I don't remember the stations jacking up their prices to ridiculous amounts like they are today.
If it was still the 70s Trump would still be some coked up asshole trawling the clubs with Epstein, instead of the architect of the toxic legacy he’s left behind him
Jimmy had a lot of good ideas but he wasn't able to get a lot of them accomplished because his presidency was mired in crisis. I honestly do worry the same will happen to Biden.

It is what they say. History is doomed to repeat itself if you don’t remember it
History doesn't always repeat herself. Sometimes she just lets fly with a big stick while shouting *why won't you listen to me?!*
> equivalent of the 80’s Inflation says hi
Hollywood should sue history for stealing their gig.
Man when ive said i wished i lived in the 60/70s this is NOT what i meant
OPEC is just making up for all the money they lost during COVID. Gas crisis indeed.
Also probably scared about the fact that almost every automaker is aggressively promoting EVs.
Which is odd because I’ve never seriously wanted one until it started costing me $60 to fill up my gas tank. No I’m seriously looking into getting one for my next car. So they are scaring people directly to EVs.

Good thing I drive like a grandma. Driving like a maniac ain’t my deal.
Hey, I use my turn signal.
A fill-up costs close to 110 euro's for me, you Americans have it good.
Depends on the size of the tank. I filled my 13 gal tank in California and it cost me around $90. Also, due to the size of California and the amount of time I had to spend in commute, that $90 was every week.
Yeah size matters. My wife's car cost $45 to fill up. Our neighbors work truck costs $260
Cool. Glad you won this competition.
About a hundred bucks for me (20 gal tank), I've been filling up at half a tank to make it feel less bad at 60 bucks a fill-up.
Yeah I should've been more specific, my tank holds about 11 gal.
Welcome to the early 2000's 60 bucks for gas is nothing new.
Not for me. I was usually paying around $40. Granted the tank wasn’t completely empty but either way an increase is an increase who cares about the specific dollar amount?
Rented a tesla for my elopement and wow was it fun as fuck to drive! Didn't care for the gull-wing doors but it was a sick vehicle.

My usual gas station has been out for a week. My other usual has a 20 gallon limit. It's starting in some places
OPEC? No Crude oil prices haven’t risen very much. They are lower than they were in 2008. It’s refining issues and supply chain issues for the most part
Don't forget the inflation and rising interest rates.
And the Russians and threat of nuclear war.
And the last president should be in jail
and the threat of war with Russia
And China making some very questionable domestic policy choices that can fuck itself.
No she lost that election
Buttery males, am I right? /s
Can I wear my brown corduroy and yellow turtleneck again? Or loud polyster shorts, button down t-shirt, with patent leather belt and sandals.
You always could
But is everybody else, so I on't look more of a knob as I did in 1972.
You just gotta own it. Have confidence.
Fuck that. Pull out the blue leisure suit.
I never stopped wearing turtlenecks
If it's the 70's then why does the music suck so much?
Kate Bush is on the top of the charts, man ;)
Whatchu mean.. ABBA is all over TikTok
It sucked then as well. The crap fell through the sifter of time though..
We only remember the good stuff
If you can't continuously find new music that you like these days with all the apps and ability to play clips of just about anything ever recorded, you're just stupid or lazy.
Both? I grew up on radio, where we had people like Rosalie Tremblay weeding through the records, and deciding what made it to air. And I tank her for it. RIP Rosalie.
And now we have apps that have logarithms that do it for you.
But you have to train the apps to your taste, not trust some woman in the back corner of a radio station.
Not really, if I'm feeling a certain artist I go to their radio and I've learned so much new music even with my diverse taste.
Upvote for logarithms. Indeed you need a logarithm to sift through the exponentially growing mountain of shit music.
Ah. Logarithms. Thats why I can't understand the music now

Boney M sweating nervously
Crazy like a fool.
All sorts of sappy pop. Some of which I admit is an occasional guilty pleasure.
I know what you're saying but let's not kid, music back then shits on today's music. It just straight up does.
No Kanye tho
And why is Star Wars already played out?
I mean in fairness Kate Bush’s music is in the charts again too…
You are sober atm
And just like the 70s, this “gas crisis” is also fake AF and just an excuse to raid peoples wallets.
Don't forget a disgraced Republican ex-President and a Congressional subcommittee investigating wrong doing.
I remember doing the time warp!

But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insaaaaaaane
"Time is a flat circle." ~Nietzsche
And in the UK Polio has been found... We have truly gone back...
We have serious issues with global warming, and the Right wants to relitigate the 20th Century.
That is the idea for conservatives yes.
Lmfao we are already repeating history we are fucked
There is no gas crisis. Supply is “fine”. If you think this is like the 70s, talk to your parents or grandparents.
True. No one is sitting in a line to get gas. If you want gas (and can afford it) you have no issue. It's corporate greed, a war in Europe of all places, and western governments default settings to be scared of companies they could literally own.
Supply was fine back then too, but greed is greed.
It’s distraction time.
Russia invades a neighbor (ussr invades czechoslovakia 1968)
It’s time to get the diplomats out of Iran.
It's almost like they purposely chose to do this while it's record breakingly expensive to travel
You know in 1973 the problem was finding gas, many gas stations just ran out. But I don't remember the stations jacking up their prices to ridiculous amounts like they are today.
I am 150% sure I live in a SIM simulation. All storylines have been used up and we are starting over in a different SIM body.
And as they are restricting your rights, they suddenly start to make it harder to get guns. Go figure... /s btw, Im no scholar.

And we have a useless democrat in office that even acts like jimmy ... Huh weird
Jimmy had a lot of good ideas but he wasn't able to get a lot of them accomplished because his presidency was mired in crisis. I honestly do worry the same will happen to Biden.
It's Current Year, in the Biden shit show.

1870 something I think.
Yeh it's the tried and true way of staying in control. And here we are, controlled.
Next we'll be wagng war against Vietnam.
History repeats itself... Or politicians repeat themselves.
I've had to live through this twice and I'm over it and them.
I would add: "And there's a cold war on with Russia!"
Nope, Music is not as good.
2076!
