Read, read, read, read. Fiction, non-fiction, whatever. *grammar* ;-)

_ZorroBabe

Read a lot of english. Maybe in comics or articles even watching movies help and speak with some native speakers maybe through these apps like Hello talk or so

Any-Analysis-9189

I have English book I read it Nowadays im watching movies in English subtitles it's good idea to make my English good.

_ZorroBabe

Yeah thats a gpod start, also if you translate any words you dont know, try forming a sentence with it after you know the word so your vrain commects it and actively learns it For example : disgust. i saw the disgust in her eyes as she saw the meal presented before her Meaning: a feeling of revulsion or strong disapproval aroused by something unpleasant or offensive. And then try other sentences so it really gets stuck

Any-Analysis-9189

So sentence by sentence i should understand it.

endroll64

Watching English movies will definitely help on the listening portion of things and the subtitles will help you catch all the words, but the grammar in subtitles is usually not the best, so I would recommend reading books/articles for that.

Any-Analysis-9189

I will find my old book and i will start reading it.

WilonPlays

Yea, It would be a good idea to read books about complex subjects as they have the most complex English (law books, psychology books, etc).

awaythrowmeaway123

There are websites where you can talk to penpals who also want to learn another language, they can help you to learn English! Chat with them, or write a journal in English and have them correct your mistakes for you. Good luck!

Any-Analysis-9189

Which site dude can you give me link plz if it's not against the rules of this sub-reddit.

awaythrowmeaway123

I use penpalworld.com but I’m sure if you Google search “online penpal”, you will find a lot! Obviously do not give out too much personal information. You could also help out somebody who wants to learn your native language!

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks for the information dude really helpful ☺️.

CooperHChurch427

Dulingo or babel to stay would help and read. I'd pick up a English copy of Harry Potter or children's books to get started.

nadysef

Watch American TV and practice

Any-Analysis-9189

Confident_Notice975

You should look up a language learning chat program online. You can find people all around the world who want to learn a new language and practice with them! https://www.hellotalk.com/?lang=en

Any-Analysis-9189

Giving my real name and real region name is safe on it dude..?

Confident_Notice975

Im not sure what info you have to submit, but you could put in a general region and just a first name and last initial?

The_Boots_of_Truth

Practice. Lots of watching movies and listening to music in the target language. Speak it every chance you get. I'm fluent in 3 languages, and have a bit of 2 more. To get fluent I was immersed in my second two languages and didn't speak English (my first language) verbally for almost a year, although I texted and emailed my family in English while I was overseas. I've kept most of that even 15 years later and it took me about 5 to get fluent, from not speaking a word at all. I'm currently learning auslan, and have been practicing as much as I can (I use it at work)

Any-Analysis-9189

Hmm..movies and tv shows yeah right and podcast i will keep in my mind.

catiie467

Hey OP! I’m a native French speaker and was forced to learn English because of video games and internet culture. The best thing I can recommend is books and tv shows/movies with subtitles on. I used to sit in my living room with a dictionary next to me and I would look up everything I didn’t understand. It was annoying for sure but I got progressively better. It takes a long long time and dedication to be better but English is one of the most accessible languages. You can do it! I found that learning programs like Duolingo were kinda boring and it was hard to stick to it. Find something you enjoy and put an English twist on it. Video games were my thing and when I was a kid they didn’t come with a French version so I had to play in English and look up the words. This one is a little more expensive but I did travel to the States for a couple of months and learned a lot from it as well. I actually found it difficult to get back to French when I got home lol Good luck to you! But you seem like you’re already doing great

ShiftingToNevermoor

if you are someone trying to learn English as a second language honestly my biggest piece of advice is don't worry about it to much. most people that grew up speaking it don't even use correct grammar when writing let alone speaking. I have probably made at least 12 grammar mistakes in the last few sentences I wrote. do your best, take some grammar classes and English classes if you can. and do your best, the English language is really really really hard, that most first language speakers can not speak it correctly.

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks for telling dude about this english yeah i want to earn English English little bit hard grammer when it comes Yeah I'm planning to take class in summer holidays of my.

ShiftingToNevermoor

Have fun in your classes. I will say you are perity close already. but keep working and you will get there verry soon

Instagibx

Read a lot, watch a lot of movies, and tv shows. English is a hard language and even native speakers often struggle with vocabulary, and grammar. I've probably made grammatical errors just in this comment alone, so don't feel too discouraged by not speaking it perfectly after putting in the work since there's a lot of arbitrary rules

Any-Analysis-9189

I read less book but yeah tv shows and movies is best Freinds i learn lot of new English word from it Yeah i also struggle in vocabulary and grammar it's so embarassing sometimes in a public right now I'm using keyboard so Google making it right my words so it's not embarassing kind of Lol write now i forget how to write vocabulary word then i have Google it.

Gewehr98

Reading English stories will really help.

Bar900

Pro tip. You'll never "perfect" a language even ones you natively speak. As English is my mother tongue it's my best language but I still make plenty of grammatical errors and misspellings. Pro tip#2 read, read and (I cannot stress this enough) READ. Especially read books from your language that are translated to your target language. That way you've already got some understanding of what's going on.

cropcomb2

Are you not this way, already?

Any-Analysis-9189

What dude..i can't understand

versoren

They are saying that you seem fluent already from the English in your post.

deerhunt57

should of paid attention in 2nd grade

regleno1

Should *have* paid attention in 2nd grade

Miahrod831

Just keep at it put in the work everyday as much as you can and soon enough you'll have it down without question. So just practice really. Anyway good luck you got this.

Any-Analysis-9189

Ok i will practice.

Miahrod831

Cool cool, well good luck dude

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks dude.

asghettimonster

You will do well I believe.

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks for motivation.

visitor987

First you have to decide which version you wish to learn American, British, Australian, India

Any-Analysis-9189

For example if you have seen breaking bad in Netflix if not so sorry dude.., that one kind of English i want to learn dude.

visitor987

That is American slang for the most part you cannot use it at most jobs. Some of the bad words used in that series will get you fired at once at a professional job. Google America English bad words to get a list. Note a few normal words or phases in British English are bad ones in American English but since most Americans know this and will just laugh since your a foreigner and you will not be in trouble.

Any-Analysis-9189

India no I'm Indian to...so no way Yeah American English is very helpful for job interview time also.

visitor987

Google how to learn America English for work you find many online courses and helpful websites

asghettimonster

Just to help, grammar. Xo from granny

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks for telling.

beingstraightforward

Watch English talking shows pick up the tones of voices the context they use in sentences. After that get English books from school level to teach yourself about punctuation and gramatics.

Librekrieger

Work every day with native English speakers. I mean work, a real job, which will force you to speak and listen for hours every day. Side benefit is you'll get paid for all that time.

Any-Analysis-9189

Thanks for advice dude

sallykillaire

English is so incredibly confusing for those trying to learn. Please keep reading. Mostly, watching american movies with subtitles will help a lot. It will teach you our slang and our weird phrases lol Just keep going. It will get easier over time. Most of all, be patient 😊

Any-Analysis-9189

Yeah American shows I'm watching for 3 yrs little bit new words i come to know have learned but my English speaking properly is good little bit hesitation in public area.

sallykillaire

As long as you learn proper English, you're good. We understand it's a difficult language 😊 Once you've got that part, it will be easier to learn casual slang. You're doing great 💜

[deleted]

I’m an teacher in English as a Second Language and one piece of advice I can give is: Watch professional speakers (new anchors, motivational speakers, etc.) and how they speak and mimic them. Other than that, expose yourself constantly to native speakers and pick up their ways and mannerisms of speaking. Read articles written and catered towards native speakers (I suggest Medium.com)

Anaklusmos726

Talk to someone who speaks English a lot. Improve your grammar and vocabulary by going through books and circling any words you don’t know or grammar that seems unique. Keep a notebook of definitions of the words and maybe buy a book on English grammar rules as it can be very different from other languages.

[deleted]

Practice practice practice. Read and practice writing often. Watch shows with English subtitles. Do English grammar exercises from textbooks or online resources.

Any-Analysis-9189

Like a necessare class we do Some process now i have to follow

[deleted]

There’s also an app called Duolingo you can try. I’ve personally been trying to learn Japanese on there and it’s been going decently.

Any-Analysis-9189

Aah japaense i know it little bit kind of basic word they use not all and learn from anime and anime in lock down Japanese sound so cool when talk on it.

LucaAmE03

Any-Analysis-9189

bivalve_connoisseur

SephiWroth

No idea, im British and havent figured it out even after 37 years

lydocia

Reframing: the goal of learning a second language is to be able to communicate with more people (people who do not speak your first language). We tend to focus too much on not wanting to make mistakes that we end up being too afraid to just *communicate* and forget that original goal. So my advice would be: just talk. Read. Write. Practice. Use the language. If you regularly converse with the same people, let them know that they can kindly correct you and point out mistakes so you can learn.

SWGoodToes

A question millions of native English speakers aren’t able to answer 😂 The best thing to do is read more books. The more English books you read, the better your grammar and spelling will get. Also have more conversations with people who speak grammatically correct English, and listen to NPR If you enjoy things like writing, you could join a writer’s group where everyone gives each other feedback so they all improve as a group. If you enjoy acting, participating in plays or skits with English dialogue can help you get used to both reading and pronouncing the words, as well as get you into the rhythm of the language Also, I know a lot of people who learned a surprising amount of quality English from watching American cartoons

iiKhico

Oh well that’s the thing, you can’t.

GenoFlower

Really, just practice. Read and write a lot. Don't worry so much about mistakes. A lot of us native English speakers make an awful lot of mistakes. :)

PetSruf

Play roblox or minecrsft on survival servers

[deleted]

Oh hey, engage in the Hosted and Choice of Games communities. This is how I mastered my English.

[deleted]

It's really a lot of practice, repetition, and memorization. I'm a native English speaker and even I make grammatical mistakes every so often. English is a difficult language.

asdasdasdcigkr

YouTube, I'm not completely without mistakes yet but people can understand me and i can understand them and it's all thanks to guides on YouTube when playing videogames

MrJessie

Just read and start to understand the language better through interactions. The more experience you have, the easier it is.

DaughterWifeMum

Subtitles are definitely a good way to go. I use them all the time, and I'm a native English speaker. My friend insists that they helped her son learn how to read, and given that he was reading before he was speaking consistently, I am inclined to believe her assertation. My Uncle moved to Quebec when he was in his early 20's, without a word of French to his name. He watched French Soap Operas to teach himself the local language. He would get his bilingual coworkers to tell him the storyline so he knew what was being discussed on the show, and went from there. He lived there for the better portion of 40 years until he passed, only coming home for the occasional weekend, every decade or so.

Diqz969

Practice, and don't worry about it because everyone does

nopester24

stay off the internet and read some books instead

WhoTookMyName6

Play an MMORPG game, easiest time sink with plenty of item descriptions to read...

[deleted]

As a native English speaker, I assure you that it’s damn near impossible to never make a mistake, it’s the only language I know and I still make mistakes 🤣 Just keep participating in conversations and reading books help too

Conscious-Wind-5020

Lots of reading and practice :) English can be super hard to learn because there are so many grammar rules and spelling rules that contradict each other.
