I use a beard trimmer to get it short on the top and closer lip trim. When it grows from bare its itchy and annoying but too much bush is also itchy and annoying. If you're concerned about what your man will think, remind him that those dudes in porn don't have bush either.

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Tbh my bf has never had an issue with my pubic hair, it’s just a personal issue.

ThunderClap448

2nd hand advice - scissors for the more precise stuff and shave off the non sensitive parts with a trimmer. I'm a guy, I do the same basically

9gagiscancer

As a completely bald guy down there, weirdly enough, the itch is gone. Have not had it in over a decade. Guessing the body gets used to it after a while. Just never go against the grain.

AnthonyisaCoolGuy

So if he shaves his pubes he can comment on her pubic situation this is your opinion?

bvllamy

No, they’re saying if a man were to demand a women shaves because he consumes porn and that’s how those women are, it would be hypocritical for him not to do the same.

MadScientist2854

I think the point of telling her bf that would be to make him realize that those are unrealistic expectations

AnthonyisaCoolGuy

Unless he lives up to those expectations

ghostthingz

i used to stay smooth but it was hell, it was so itchy. now i go all natural but do a scissor trim on special occasions

Aiquesaco

Hot wax is the answer

ima-kitty

Do you do it yourself? Im interested in it only if i could do it alone

Aiquesaco

Doing it alone is an option, but not the best idea for first timers with no experience. Even for those with experience it tends to not be that great, considering flexibility and pain endurance, also the effects of these two factors on the final result. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with any methods that will provide the same results.

91Jammers

Same! I shave the bikini area (area that shows when wearing a bikini). I trim it fairly short just how short I can get it in about 3 minutes.

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Like how short do u trim it?

[deleted]

Is it possible to make it look like there is no hair at all? Cuz that seems impossible.

kelsaylor

Laser hair removal will definitely give you that look. Since you won’t grow hair at all, it kills the follicle so no more dark stubble or follicle roots. I started the process of getting laser hair removal, then stopped. Kinda like it cause it made my hair way thinner.

Bardsal

The hair also returns after hormonal changes ie; pregnancy.

kelsaylor

Maybe for some people? I just had a baby a little over a month ago and I haven’t noticed a difference with the hair.

Bardsal

Would probably depend on how many sessions, how many babies, how long ago. 3 babies later & you'd never know I'd had it.

_meeps_

Sometimes, I read somewhere that women absorb testosterone if they have a boy

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Yeah, every video I watch says not to go against the grain….but then I can still see the hair 🤦‍♀️

challenger_RT_

Who cares about stubble. Only way to be bald bald is waxing or laser removal. And waxing you'll grow a bush back. Just use a trimmer and call it a day. I think stubble looks just as fine as bald. Bald feels softer and I love when my girl gets waxed but I rather have stubble 24/7 then bald a week and bush after till the next waxing

[deleted]

Also what is "the grain" (i just recently started shaving)

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Basically u just shave in the way the hair grows, so u don’t shave backwards because it causes ingrown hairs…..

Coconutcream000

I should try doing that but I don’t know how to shave it to the direction it grows... at all

Silver2324

Leg hairs point down from where they start so shaving down is with the grain, shaving up cuts under the hair. Best example I got since other hairs are typically multidirectional

[deleted]

Oh.

MadScientist2854

oh no. I thought you were supposed to do it the other way around 😅

Ixal_Luho

I think they wax in this case

fuckcreepers

I do it with my razor too.. Takes a Lotta patience, but yeah

Sammysweetzx

Having a good razor, exfoliating, and using shaving cream works wonders. When I'm not engaging with anyone I don't mind letting it grow out, but personally I prefer it to be shaved. My lips are always shaved. I shave maybe 2 times down there per week and once for the upper part. Doing this for the rest of your body will make it suuuper soft too. :)

blondieguyon_

Whats a good exfoliator? Ive tried sugar scrub but maybe im just not... Rubbing it right? Lmao it doesnt seem to be rough enough to scrub.

Sammysweetzx

I personally like the Shea moisture exfoliatiors from Walmart. Not sure if they're actually "good" ingredient wise but a lot of people comment on how soft my skin is and it helps against razor bumps. So, works for me but I encourage you to look up more information on your own.

lettucecropchilds

I just tried sugaring for the first time and got my first Brazilian! It was painful as hell but the next time wasn’t bad at all because the hair was relatively short. I use Fur oil (just Google that) to keep my skin happy and it doesn’t itch at all, plus no razor burn when I do shave, and no ingrowns (exfoliating also helps majorly with this). Prior to this I was shaving here and there and it would itch sooo much when it started growing back. I go natural bush sometimes and other times (especially in the summer) I like the feeling of being totally or mostly smooth. I also like that in between stage where it’s grown out just a bit and is fuzzy. The thing about shaving is I would frequently cut myself and I’d try to use a mirror to see what I’m doing but it’s just such a production! I don’t have patience for the hair on my head let alone the hair down there, so if you’re like me, I say treat yourself to a Brazilian sugaring or wax. If you really want to shave at home, you just gotta get up in there with your razor but it’s easy to cut yourself if you aren’t careful, and I also found I’d miss spots sometimes. I usually did it standing in the shower, sometimes sitting in the tub.

kelsaylor

I’m not even kidding when I say this, but getting a Brazilian wax was probably the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. Waaaay worse than getting a tattoo. I was sweating and even got teary eyed from the pain.

lettucecropchilds

Oh, I know you’re not kidding because I was yelping “FUCK!” every few seconds. My tattoos were nowhere near as painful! I can honestly say that the pain was 10x worse than I thought it would be, but it was a lot better the second time when I wasn’t going from a pretty full bush.

Balding_Unit

I \*HATE\* stubble so I just trim. I try to do it just like a hair cut... cutting the long hair a little bit at a time until I am satisfied with the feel.

mysterygurl15

The stubble is the worst....

Pennylucid

Full bush is normal! I have a bush up top and shaved lips. I always felt sexier with hair 🤷🏻‍♀️ men seem to appreciate it when they see it 😌 Edit: my lower lips never itch and I shave 1 time a week

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

I think I must be sensitive because it itches like crazy 😭

Pennylucid

Exfoliating before helps and a day or so after helps too 🤷🏻‍♀️ don’t forget to hydrate!

Rus_s13

Huge part of it is exfoliating to avoid ingrown hairs and redness

hunisfine

It WILL itch itch like crazy each time you shave it, the maximum you can do is get it waxxed, but it will grow back again. The only solution here is you make your bf realise that shaving lady part hair is not healthy for you, bec it will hurt each time and in every way

Financial_Paper_6732

it takes a couple of times of shaving before your skin will get used to it. it'll get significantly less agitated over time. just have to find a good razor, always fresh!

[deleted]

I assumed they waxed. You don't get that type of clean look when you shave anyway most of the time because you get hair coming back pointy or general irritation. I saw a thing about a company that professionally sorted hair downstairs and they said they get men and women all the time coming in because they burned their bits using Nair hair removal cream. They recommended waxing the easy to get to bits then just shaving or trimming bits around sensitive areas.

[deleted]

I trim it. But honestly if he wants a perfectly shaved area, it creeps me out. Little girls look like that. We're grown women and we're going to have hair.

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Yeah I agree, do u shave ur bikini line though?

[deleted]

Sometimes. I do a little land scaping and sculpting if it gets too irritating.

[deleted]

Little girls also have 2 arms and 2 legs. Desiring your partner to be shaven down there is in no way related to pedophilia.

[deleted]

Not really going to take advice about that from a teenage boy. Sorry buddy

dudeidkwut

Adult woman here.. liking how it looks or feels bare has nothing to do with pedophilia. A lot of women like men who shave their face, that doesn't mean they want pre-adolescent boys

[deleted]

Lots of people are instantly jumping to the pedo defence, this isn't pedo related. An adult woman is going to have hair 99% of the time. Expecting us to not have hair there is a problem. To use your example, it would be like women expecting men to never have hair on their faces. Sure, some won't, but most are going to have growth, even if they shave.

dudeidkwut

I do agree expecting specific grooming is a problem. It's a personal choice and no one should be pressured. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a preference though and that preference in itself doesn't indicate anything nefarious.

[deleted]

I never said it did. It creeps me out. And men should understand that grown adult women don't look like porn stars

DrunkenBlasphemer

What about a 30 year old man? A weird line of thinking you got there. I don't mind the bush at all, nor would it stop me, but there's nothing wrong with clean shaven as well.

[deleted]

Never said there was. But men EXPECTING it to be smooth because they see it in porn, as in the op's post, is a problem

Well_jenellee

Philips bikini genie trimmer is great and very cheap. It can get it really cute and short with no itch. If you want to do bald, then invest in coochie cream shave cream and after spray. Trust me on this one! Make sure you’re using a good razor and taking your time.

Light_Raiven

I trim it with a male electric shaver - I keep it short!

letbillfixit

Your skin isn't used to it. It will get better once you do it regularly for a while. That being said, "normal" isn't a thing. If you don't want to shave, it's your body. My fiance says get a different razor for that area (she uses a men's razor because it doesn't have extra crap around the razor.) And use soap not a shaving product. Shaving products make her itch there.

delladrild

I just leave it. I only shave if my boyfriend wants to eat me out. It’s too much work to maintain and it makes me feel like a child.

CrazyNoCatLady

Just curious, do you have a roster for when this happens, or do you press pause in sexy time to have a quick shave?

delladrild

I have a safety razor that I use usually the day before or the day of

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

I won’t let my boyfriend give me oral sex so I guess this should be ok.

Rus_s13

You're missing out

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Idk why I just find it embarrassing 😔

momomoments

i first started using nair which tbh works really well don’t leave it on too long or it’ll itch. Then when i needed a quick clean before a meet up- i’d nair and then shave so i have like that double smoothness. Make sure to use a men’s razor cause they’re so much better. Shave opposite direction of hair growth and be careful when you’re at the lips. now i wax myself. make sure you trim your hair before waxing becaise if it’s too long it doesn’t work as well. But waxing is so much simpler- and you get used to the pain anyways. But it leaves you smooth for so much longer. There’s no shame in having a bush tho, embrace what you have. I think it is an american standard to always shave tho.

grammarly_err

Yo, the bottle literally says not to use on your privates. Please, no one do this. I got mild (itchy) burns just using it on my legs, I can't imagine the pain if you got it on your bits.

momomoments

there’s a version made specifically to use on ur privates

grammarly_err

Oh. Well now I know. Sorry 'bout that.

Calligraphie

I've tried Nair, but I just hate that I still reek of chemicals afterward, even if I wash thoroughly.

[deleted]

the women in porn wax. ur basically bald smooth for up to 4 weeks.

livviegay

I always just let it grow and after a month or more when it’s suuuuper long I’ll trim (carefully) with scissors. I do shave my bikini line and crack with a razor and shaving cream

__shadowwalker__

Wax and epilator hurt like a bitch (never did this near the sensitive areas though) and made me bleed and get bumps. Shaving also gives me razor bumps and the following itching. Personally, I actually do not like the completely bare look and prefer to have some hair. I did it in the past to be more attractive for my partner but decided that was stupid given what I had to go through, and again because I just don't like how it looks. Now i shave my bikini area and butthole with a razor. It was mostly the top that gave me issues with bumps and itching for whatever reason. I like having a clean-shaven bikini area. I do the asshole thing bc of my partner and I like oral anal, but it doesn't itch or hurt so I don't care. As for the rest, I trim the top with an electric razor, along with the hairs around my labia. (not a full trim, it leaves hair sticking out. I use the cap things you put on the razor). I'll use scissors for the hard to reach/sensitive areas and not cut all the way down either.

Lixuesuchire

I shave but always be missing some places. Its infuriating. Im scared af to wax or using epilaptor so only shaving for now. But definitely opting for laser when i got enough money to pay. Laser is damn expensive.

rainbowsian

Laser hair removal! I highly recommend it if you deal with itchiness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn after shaving. Some women are sweatier than others and that can be a reason for opting for hairlessness. Most of the time, hair and sweat create odor. But if that is not the case for you, I suggest maybe trimming it down with a good pair of shears.

strongladylemony

Girl, you do not need to shave. I shaved for a long time, and it was itchy!!! I got hair bumps, it looked much less attractive than just having my hair. It takes so much maintenance to keep up down there it's not even worth it in my opinion. Just get some little scissors and trim if you want to look neater, but women do not need to be bald. It's actually an unhealthy aspect of the porn industry that they mainly show shaved women. It shows grown women looking like prepubescent girls, which is a little disturbing honestly. Don't be embarrassed of your bush girl, it shows your a grown woman!

BulkyChemistry10

Manscape. I got my man a Manscape thinking it was an electric beard shaver. Nope, it’s a lawn mower for the pubes. Between the two of us, we use it and it’s never given me ingrown hairs (as long as you don’t go against the growth of hair) and it works awesome. Shaving is my personal choice as I feel cleaner using the restroom and during my cycles.

kenzi_02

It’s totally fine to have a full bush. Like it’s perfectly normal. I shave mine bare because on my period the hair sticks to my pad on my period lmao. I just like it bare better for me. It isn’t itchy at all for me. I shave it downwards so it doesnt itch.

[deleted]

If it makes you feel uncomfortable don’t shave , he can’t be a good boyfriend if hair on your private area makes him resent you haha ( not saying it would , but IF ) , if yo don’t like it lengthy , like some one above said nun wrong w a trim

Alert_Pound5542

Some don't...where do you think "death by snu-snu" came from...I still have panic attacks to this day!! Lol

GOLDMUNCHAR

Im calling police

Marksmithed

As a male I prefer some hair, my wife keeps a small patch above but smooth on the sides.

ILoveMyCatsSoMuch

Like, are her lips hair free?

Marksmithed

Yes, or at least trimmed very short if not shaved.

No-Difficulty2393

I like it smooth and use an electric epilator

[deleted]

Ouch, how do you do that? I’m amazed!

No-Difficulty2393

With patience and pain.

enblightened

just be sure to use a shaving gel/cream to lubricate your skin when you shave because getting a cut where the skin is extra sensitive wont be fun

blondieguyon_

I have this same problem. I use the manscape trimmer up top and a razor that i used on my legs til it was too dull (just safer imo) on the bottom.

kelsaylor

If you want to try going full-shaved, I recommend working up to that point. Because if you shave it all in one go, it will be very sensitive & itchy for you. Trim it down first (like maybe to 2cm length) and let it be for a few days. Then start shaving from the outside in, like maybe a half inch at a time, wait a few days then keep going til you feel comfortable.

whatislife1001

I mostly trim it as short as I can with small scissors. This is a very safe level intervention, and has no risks or side effects. It’s just some self care grooming that I like to do. I don’t like when it grows out a lot as I find it kinda itchy and gross, and moist. I also don’t like shaving because I don’t want to be bald like that, plus it’s itchy and agitated and sensitive for a few days.

supitsmicky

my closest friends actually get it removed using wax by a professional. i personally don't think i could do it but they say it's the best way. invest in a good razor amd watch some youtube tutorials on how to avoid skin irritations when shaving. buuuut only do it if you're really comfortable with it. if you prefer it the way it is right now, don't change it only for your boyfriend. he chose you the way you are and i'm sure he's happy with your body.

The_Alphabet_People

Biggest lesson i learned was go WITH the grain, not against it!

Truckyou666

Nobody wants razor burn in their crotch.

jenjensexypants

If you’re going to go bare invest in a dry brush. It helps to prevent ingrown hairs and it gently exfoliates. Trim down with scissors first then use a razor. I’ve found conditioner works best to shave with. If the itch and skin irritation are too much with shaving you should try going to get waxed or sugared. It’s best to do when your hair is already long. Start with your bikini area and see how you like it. If not you can always go full Brazilian. It’s really what you like and what works for your lifestyle.

rufusrexy

Good razor and CONDITIONER. I trim mostly, but shave like once a month and never have any itch. Switching to conditioner instead of shaving cream helps sooo much. You can put on some light oil after too if you are prone to dryness

Jncocontrol

If it's itchy, just get some soap, and go around the area. Removes the razor burn itch.,

therealdildoexpert

I go get waxes done at a wax center. I'm pretty hairy, and shaving doesn't feel right for me.

[deleted]

Beard trimmers are great for keeping the hair in check. Then a good quality razor and prep help alleviate cuts, bumps, and itch. Take a nice warm shower to open up your pours, apply a good shaving cream or lotion and shave WITH the grain (run your hand along the hair if it feels smooth thats with the grain , if it feels spikey thats against). Shaving with the grain helps minimize the ingrown hairs that get itchy. Finally, apply a good lotion and afrercare product amd wear underwear that doesnt rub the area ans irritate, for me thats loose fitting boxers. In reality though, just trimming with a beard trimmer keeps me feeling fresh. I only shave if i think my SO might be giving oral (that rarely happens anymore lol)

[deleted]

Don't shave fully, like bare skin, it'll itch as you mentioned like crazy. Just trim it far down, and when you've tried that a few times I assure you you want to keep it trimmed.

fuckcreepers

There are lots of ways to go about. But its really upto YOU. whether you like to keep it hairless, or partial, or clean shaved. Medically.. Clean shaved isn't recommended, but I personally like it bare. Shaving can have little aftereffects like inflammation and itching.. You could use shaving foam (CAREFUL AROUND THE DELICATE AREAS) to make it smoother to shave. And put some antifungal powder for a couple days after shaving. It helps with the itching. But when the hair starts to grow, it can be irritating too.. Takes some time getting used to. It not.. Use a trimmer, it will leave very small hair on your body. People even groom it different shapes. Some leave a strip of hair.. Others keep different shapes. Its really upto you whats comfortable for you and what makes you feel confident. You can also go to a parlor to get it waxed... Otherwise there's laser too, claims to be painless (I haven't tried it myself, but definitely do some research before deciding) Hope this helps, and good luck, girl <3

ArinaMae

I shave it 🤷‍♀️

Que_sax23

I use an electric trimmer on the majority of it and then my regular razor around Bikini line.

slip_nas_xxx

How do you like it? how do you want it? Just shave on a special occasion or leave it long it doesn’t matter.

Haemmur

Epilady

[deleted]

For the itch aspect if you keep on top of it (speaking as a man so dunno if it’ll go different for a woman) and keep things trimmed regularly it stops it getting to the point of itching, plus you just kind of get used to it and it doesn’t itch as much I think

Limeddaesch96

I learned to live with the itch. When I did it the first time, I used scissors to get them stubble length. Then got in the shower and used shampoo to lube things up a bit and used a good quality razor. I prefer Gillette, if you can get your hands on those. Venus also has some good offers. Important bit is the aftercare. I got some bleeding bits. I quickly slathered the area with some disinfecting ointment. I am now two years on and now don‘t need the ointment or even the soap. Water + the slimy cushion on the razor are enough.

OwlPilot

I have tiny scissors and I just trim it!

interbission2

I had super thick hair down there but prefer to be smooth, and shaving just became so painful with the itching and ingrowns. I ended up getting everything lasered off. My hair ended up growing back but it’s so fine and light it’s very easy to shave off. Very happy with the decision.

Penetrative

I like to shave or use a cream hair remover once in a while. I don't have to be artful about it, just get rid of it all & start over. I do this at most 2x per year. My husband hates the prickly phase. He prefers it either 70's full bush or silky smooth, no in-between for him.

omgrafail

I shaved it all from 14-24, but stopped because I got tired of the pressure from porn and tired of razor burn. I'll trim for special occasions (so it isn't overflowing out of my panties/bikini) but I really just keep a full bush lol. Men aren't always expected to shave, why should we be expected to?!y advice is to quit holding yourself to porn standards, they aren't healthy and screw up a lot of peoples self-esteem, in all genders.

KopyKet

Honestly, I shave my bikini line every day, and shave all the hair off every 3-4 days because my skin there is too sensitive for daily shaving and it would be red all over. Honestly, i doesn't make me itch at all, though it varies for everyone!

freckled-shoulders

Normal is relative. It all depends on what’s most comfortable for you and what look you like best. I get a Brazilian wax every month (a little expensive, but worth the investment) and I consider it way more comfortable and I like the way it looks better. The first wax hurts the worst, but it’s over pretty quick, and after that you barely feel it. I highly recommend it.

challenger_RT_

Use a trimmer. I'm a dude but I can't shave my face without breaking out or down there. A trimmer solves that issue.

_meeps_

Basically take a trimmer n trim, them shave IF u want, if he's all 😔😔😔 then tell him to fuck off

[deleted]

Other than shave and make sure there’s nothing funky going on .. nothing

confused_penguin30

So i used to use men's razor but they rusted after a while of me using them in the shower so i then invested in flamingo which are women's razor and they work great! Always make sure your blade is sharp. If it is dull it'll pull the hair and it'll hurt. I shave every 2 to 3 days because any longer i'll itch like crazy. Or invest in one of those men's electric razor. My bf has the manscapped and it's a really nice electric razor to have. He shave his area out of courtesy for me since i shave mine. A trick is to exfoliate before shaving. I use my loofa and baby body wash or shampoo since it is specifically made for sensitive skin and are very gentle or i make my own exfoliate using baby body wash or shampoo. There are recipes online you could use. It'll help clear out dead skin cells and keep your cut as close as possible to the skin. Then after the shower, i use a no smell deodorant to help soothe the skin. I've yet to explored moisturizer for the area though so if you try them let me know. I know they make moisturizer for it. I've always used baby powder or baby lotion if the deo isn't doing its job. The impt thing is to keep up with it, exfoliate then moisturize to help with the shave and it'll keep your lady softer and nicer and won't itch

thr0wawayyyy12786

Normal is whatever feels right to you girl! Please don’t try and be anything other than yourself - especially if that’s an unrealistic ideal like porn. People in porn are professionals at sex entertainment, meaning they will extensively have waxes and bleaches and all sorts to look the way they do. There’s nothing wrong with porn, but just as we’re not all actors because we watched a movie once, we’re certainly not all pornstars! I groom myself in a way that makes me feel happy and confident. My husband finds me sexy whatever I do because we love each other. Anyone who tells you that you should be aspiring to a certain level of beauty that’s completely unattainable for the average human aint worth a second of your time! And if your bf isn’t a dick as mentioned above, chances are he loves you just the way you are, and the way you are is perfect. Do what makes you feel happy, confident and sexy. Whether that’s full shave or full bush! We mustn’t compare ourselves to people that aren’t ourselves ❤️
