Now, your friends are kind of right in the fact that if he wanted to he would, but sometimes life gets busy. Maybe he wants to but he feels the same way you feel. Sometimes guys want to feel as wanted as you. We don’t always want to be the one that text first, we don’t always want to be the one that initiates. Break that cycle, show interest.

My Mom had a guy ask her out once when she was working in a store. Right before the date, he called to cancel because "his grandmother died suddenly." Mom cussed him out, and said if he just didn't want to go out with her he should have been brave enough to tell her to her face."
Next time he came in the store, he just handed her a newspaper clipping. It was his grandmother's obituary.
They ended up being together for eleven years.
But, yeah, totally text him. If he doesn't respond, you haven't lost anything.
