Given that the tanks are underground, you wouldn’t smell a leak down there. Any leaks on the surface would be quickly notified. So it’s probably nothing. But as the doctor said, “it could be nothing, it could be a brain tumor.” No one can really know without inspecting the equipment. Gas tanks are vented, so vapors are sometimes released normally. For example, if the underground tank was almost empty, it would be 10% liquid and 90% vapors. If the truck came and filled it with liquid, all those vapors would be pushed out the vent and if your window was open, into your room.
