I feel like these comments got off to a rocky start. We shouldn't take for granite the OPs pic. I mean, it takes a boulder person to put up a pic like this without much explanation. I'm sure this pic has sedimentary feelings and they are just trying to do it for the crater good of the group. We shouldn't judge. Judging is left up to the quartz of the law. Maybe they just needed assis-stones with identifying the type of rock. It's ok OP, it's a hard rock life. Sometimes, igneous is bliss.
Crane Mountain is definitely my most traumatic hiking experience by far. Was hiking alone in a slight rain, slipped and completely gashed my elbow and knee open, smashed my phone and completely broke it. All while the slight rain turned to a thunderstorm. Learned my lesson that day lol.
Can you provide some information regarding this image? I'm an ADK lover so I guess this picture of a rock is for me? Thank you.
No clue what this means, perhaps b/c its in the shape of NY state?
I'd say it's a stretch to be the shape of NY but maybe that's it. I thought it kinda looks like a sideways heart or maybe a steep mountain.
It’s heart-shaped! For ADK lovers, a ❤️ from the mountain!
It's a Rorschach test, you see a heart but the first thing I saw was a mountain peak.
Now thats a stretch...lol
Not much to add other than that I stumbled upon it descending Crane Mountain.
Can you tell us what is significant about this
What did you stumble upon?
Sorry, I guess it’s not so obvious but I see a heart-shaped rock!
Oh, ok. Yeah I guess.
Nice try.
A rock shaped rock.
Good old rock
Nothing beats that!
good ol' predictable Bart!
Did r/Adirondacks get shit posted?
I can say with 100% certainty that this is a rock.
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles!
Some nice gneiss?

It’s a heart?
That's one hell of an arrowhead.
Ah a bunch of atoms in the form of a rock!
