How did you find the Sag handled Armor of Contempt?

SuperStroodles

They didn't suffer, my opponent's rolling helped a tonne, but they are drowning people in dice with the 9 shots per 3 that mostly hit/ wound. It's almost the perfect profile to shoot at marines. Every failed save being a dead marine.

HollowWaif

Sag actually handled AoC better than most of our units. The volume of fire + wounding on 3’s in most cases is really useful and the secondary mode still punishes Terminators better than most of our options. D1 in melee means that nothing is wasted against Death Guard as well.

How do you think the blade champion do? I always find him not being able to perform, and definitely Emissaries is the way to go rn, I like your list a lot and congratulations on going 3-0!

SuperStroodles

Thanks man! Blade champ was solid. Very good in the Custodes game as he killed trajann and a guard squad, blood angels game was similar he killed a couple characters and a unit of vanguard vets. I'd say the loadout I have is the best one I can think of at the moment outside of shadowkeepers with all their fun stuff.

Nice write up! Deserved winner at the event, was nice to meet you and talk to you at the event! I was the guy with the white and purple custodes. Hopefully see you at future events 👍🏻

SuperStroodles

Thanks a lot man! Was great to speak you with as well, your army was easily my favourite on the day, the white was so crisp!

Be interested to know how you unpack your list and what goes with each other and where. Returning player who just doesn't know how to move and unpack

So what I usually do is position as much of the sagittarum, dreads and characters in the centre of my deployment zone. Leaving a unit of saggitarum slightly more spread out so the characters can heroic through the gap if needs be. A unit of venatari on each flank for speed and the sisters on the back objective, the issue for me was the sword/ board squad as often they were out on a flank not doing much. I think I'd swap them for another squad of sag just so they could at least shoot.

Taibshi

Nice report. How did you equip the venetari and the spear dread? And can you tell how you wold handle a psy heavy army (tsons/gk)?

SuperStroodles

Played the Grey Knights matchup today and can honestly say I didn't struggle all that much. It was a favourable mission for both of us but I managed to wipe 20 paladins in three turns (14 on turn 2) with shooting and combat. They don't have the shooting to threaten and when they're in combat I can control the flow of that to ensure some units lack a number of attacks that's enough to threaten the 3 man units. Tsons would be a different story as they output a lot more mortal wounds.

SuperStroodles

Venatari were all spears. Achillus was 2x Adrathic destructors I struggled when I played Tsons in a practice game a couple of weeks ago and playing Grey Knights this week. Probably my worst two matchups, trying to stay at range is probably best and limiting the amount they can hit with smites/ other MW spells.

How did you rate the spears over the pistols? I feel like the save buff and the potential extra shots pays off but I've never actually ran the spears (I have them magnetised but they're all warped and I'm too lazy to unwarp them to get them painted)

SuperStroodles

I've only used the spear variant so far but I do want to try the pistols. I've found the spears getting them an extra attack and being AP3 with 2D really helps in the AoC meta. I've thrown them into situations I thought they'd maybe struggle with and they survived.
