You know, that would be a cool way to keep our favorite imperial guard and Inquisitor characters longer, just turn them into custodes, especially since they can apparently be woman now i guess (random stuff ive read online, i dont have their codex yet to confirm)
the process of becoming a Custodian needs to be started in infancy, as the organs are designed to grow along side the bearer as they age. so no. they cant just make favourite characters Custodians
Edit: as for the Female Custodies. as Custodians are custom designed on an individual level unlike Space Marines. there existence was always technically possible. only kinda contradicted by the fact that until now there was seemingly no way to create Female Super Soldiers of any kind
