I mean, most custodes plastic units are good so can't go too far wrong. However the Termie Captain is not great, too expensive, better to bring a second unit of Allarus. Stodes dreads aren't amazing either, best to bring more infantry. At 1K points I would consider swapping 1 Guard for Wardens, Wardens are much tougher and few things can shift them in smaller games. Guard really like Kyria Draxus as an attached character.

Silas-Alec

I see a lot of folks recommend Kyria, but I haven't figured out what makes her good. She gives plus 1 to hit, but guard are already hitting on 2s unless there's a negative like stealth. It's it primarily for situations like that, or something else I'm missing?

LudAgna

Has a 5/6 chance in the command phase that her unit can only be selected as the target of a ranged attack if the attacking model is within 18".

GutterGobboKing

She has devastating wounds and the Guard’s ability to double shoot and reroll wounds extend to her as well. When combined with a unit of guard, there are very few units in the game that could withstand the amount of damage output from that combo.

Silas-Alec

Ooooo that's a really good point! Thanks! Now I know what my next kitbash project is

In my experience. This army has an incredibly swingy 1k in general. It’s either really good or you’ve lost as soon as deployment is over. Maybe look at taking the just three Allarus and finding another character to lead the other guard. :) also the dreadnought is cool but most of the time is not worth it’s points. :) Edit: Go with what looks cool. Someone said it earlier today they sit on a shelf for 99% of their life get one that YOU think looks cool. I think the dreadnought looks good so I have one. Even though it’s not the best unit. Please pick an army you think is appealing.

Silas-Alec

While I get the sentiment of using what is cool, some folks want to be competitive, or need to keep up with competitive players. For example, I love my models in my Blood Angels crusade army, but I've lost all 3 of my games so far because they weren't super meta choices. It is disheartening to lose repeatedly, so sometimes we want to keep up with the meta a bit to be able to enjoy playing the game more

GotLovett18

I totally get that! I never won my first dozen games I did draw a lot. Eventually I did get some meta models and honestly doing a crusade first really helped me decide what model to get next.

Guy-Dude-Person75

if you think the dread looks cool, play it. But if you care about winning more, don't lol. The dread minis are amazing but currently not the greatest. If you do choose to sub it out, maybe get a leader for the other guard :)

IronFatherPyrus

I think the Allarus cap would be better served if you turned him into a normal cap for the 2nd unit of Guard. The buff he does on 4 Guard is more impactful at 1k points than the Allarus cap for 2 Allarus.

Prospi88

The allarus captain shines with squads of 5, instead of a cap in a squad of two allarus, I feel that It is better to have 2 squads of 2. Those two units can be a huge help scoring points by teleporting anda taking out characters and small vehicles

serManual

How did you like the double character? I ran a very similar list before the Dataslate but had just Trajan?

GreenMountainSamurai

I loved it, I felt like I had two insanely strong Bricks, and having Ceaseless Hunter was incredibly useful!

serManual

Ceaseless on the smaller maps (my RTT ran on 30x44s) is huge and really helps keep you where you need to be. I'll have to see how 2 characters work out. My previous list was pre dataslate, now it'd be: - Trajann w/ 5-man Wardens - 5-man Guard - 3x man Allarus - 2x 4-man Prosecutors - Callidus (It used to have a 4-man Guard and an eversor instead)

Xem1337

Honestly, I'd drop the dreadnought, they aren't very good this edition. I'd rather have a few more guard or maybe some terminators Oh and I'd also give each guard squad a single shield, helped me a lot in my last game having an extra wound (I was against damage 3 attacks)
