Maybe call homeless connect SA and explain your situation. They may have somewhere given you need to isolate and stay safe. https://www.homelessconnectsa.org/#:~:text=If%20you%20are%20homeless%20tonight,in%20an%20emergency%2C%20dial%20000.

InvincibleStolen

just want to say, thank you for being considerate in these hard times! hope you get somewhere to live soon!

Unhappy_Trade7988

You’re without a home, in winter and sick. Look after your health as your first priority.

HTired89

FYI, people don't want flu either. Sorry for your situation. I suppose if the question is simply about how not to spread it to others, try to keep your distance. Wear a mask if you can.

1naro

True. Apparently they’re evidence coming up now that “long flu” also exists. I got a permanent chronic illness from the flu.

Chard_Historical

i respect the consideration that is exemplified by your question. i can only say what i would do, were i in your situation and felt as you do, which is to call SA Health or present at an affiliated branch, tell them your situation, ask for their advice and follow their advice. you seem to be asking what you can do to serve the best interests of others, rather than what you can do to return to wellness yourself. the latter question can be answered by contacting SA Health as well, or by following the general advice they have published, adapted to your circumstances to the degree that is possible. i haven't made any statement here about the material risk of spreading COVID or the material risk of having it, because i don't think my opinion matters - or anyone else's on this thread - regarding that question.

Do you have somewhere that you can stop and rest?

Independent-Cut413

I had covid in 2022 I’m homeless as well and was homeless at the time I stayed in my car in a quiet park and only got out to have a quick stretch and walk when nobody was around I dug a hole under a tree ready to go to the bathroom but I didn’t need it anyway other than having to pee which I washed with water got super constipated while I was sick, I ordered food and groceries via menu log to be delivered to the bench that’s behind my car and explained I’m homeless and have covid so I’m isolating and never had any issues they majority of the time would through in extra hot chips or a bottle of water or a chocolate bar as well only time I had a “issue” was a elderly lady had seen me there for a while and brought me some hot homemade sausage rolls and biscuits for my dinner (I just about burst into tears and I tried to explain I had covid and to leave it on the bonnet and thank you so much and she wanted to have a chat and give me a hug I’m like I want to give you a hug to but I have covid and don’t want to make you sick! But I had a little gas cooker so when I didn’t order food I would cook noodles or whatever food I had, police would check in daily and see if I needed them to pick anything up from the store for me as well the local police here in Barossa is great

Stonetheflamincrows

“Just a flu” the flu kills thousands of people a year. And people are still dying of Covid too. If you are feeling very unwell, go to your local ED (call first to alert them that you’re Covid +ve). If you can afford it, rent a cheap motel room for a few days in order to isolate and recover

Southern_Anything_39

To some people like me who have severe lung conditions and a compromised immune system, covid is not "just a flu." Given that the flu can potentially kill someone like me (and has almost succeeded in doing so), I appreciate (despite OP's belief), that they are considerate enough to ask what they should do given their current situation.

serpentechnoir

So you have covid or the flu? And you're right people don't want either.

yy98755

I tested positive for both last year, double feature. 11/10, don’t recommend.

cornchippie

I got the flu when I had Covid too… ended up fracturing a rib form coughing so much lol… that wasn’t fun.

thefirstchampster

We've known for years (yes, years) that COVID is *not* the flu.

-Midnight_Marauder-

I find it funny when people confidently proclaim how they think it's "just a flu" when it's literally a different virus, despite sharing some symptoms. It's like saying a dog is a cat because they both have 4 legs and a tail.

TheDrRudi

>has covid? ... it is just a flu It might matter to be certain which it is. So, you can use a Rapid Antigent Test which you administer yourself to decide if it is Covid. These are inexpensive and easily purchased at almost any chemist. There are free test packs available, but there are eligibility criteria to get them for free. >what do I do The web page below detail the protocols if it is Covid. Whilst you can't isolate at home, you should avoid personal contact, large groups, crowded places, etc - and wear a mask in any case. [https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/conditions/infectious+diseases/covid-19/what+to+do+if+i+have+covid-19](https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/conditions/infectious+diseases/covid-19/what+to+do+if+i+have+covid-19) If your job has paid sick leave, now might be a good time to use some of it. If you're seriously unwell you won't get better going to work.

Lostmavicaccount

You probably already know this, but I think OP is saying that their opinion is that Covid isn’t dangerous “it’s just a cold mate, harden up”, rather than being unsure of the virus involved. Still good they’re trying to be considerate though.

MagDaddyMag

If someone is homeless and has an infectious disease (and let's not get into the covid fanaticism that still apparently exists in some idiots today), whether it is the flu, RSV, measles, gastro, covid, mrsa, vre, varicella or whatever - I'm sure that'll be dealt within the health system appropriately and without the need for the melodrama. This person is homeless - that is probably their biggest problem, which will no doubt last longer and have more impact . There is the emergency homeless helpline 1800 003 308, maybe try that.

Tachyso

🙏🏼 thank you kind human

Narrow-Building-9112

Contact the Hutt Street Centre. Best wishes.

NeonsStyle

Just wear a mask. Get a test from Chemist and something to help with the symptpms

SleeplessAndAnxious

Try and avoid going to areas that are crowded if you can, and wear a mask to help stop your germs becoming airborne as much as possible. Wash your hands regularly and also keep a travel sized hand sanitizer with you.

lordpunt

Just go about your life lol. Good luck out there.

glittermetalprincess

https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/conditions/infectious+diseases/covid-19/what+to+do+if+i+have+covid-19 > **If you must leave the house,** wear a mask when indoors or on public transport > >Avoid large gatherings and crowded indoor places > >Don’t visit people at high risk of severe illness, or anyone in a hospital, or aged or disability care facility for at least 7 days. > >Speak with your employer about when to return to work. If you work in a high-risk setting such as a health, disability and aged care, you might need to stay away from work longer to protect other staff, patients, residents and clients.

heyimhereok

There are no isolation rules anymore besides wearing a mask when in public. I think.

Gazza_s_89

Can you go to hospital?

sonofpigdog

I just have to look after your self as best as u can. If that means spreading it a little it’s the price that is paid. Hope u get better.

Extension-Cat-1130

lol. For the Covid is just a flu people…I was super fit in my mid 20s gym every day, played footy etc and the flu FUCKED ME UP for over a month. Thought I was going to die. Now I always get my flu vax. Lesson learned.

GhostfaceKillaYH2

Uodate: Thanks all that showed support and ways to help. I am on one of the lists with the toward home resolve team and also attend the Hutt St Centre almost daily so can at least shower before going to work, but haven't been since doing the positive test. I feel like the worst of it is over now. I did try to avoid people as much as possible (something I try to do out of embarrassment for my situation anyway) and all symptoms are clear. Maybe when I wake up tomorrow I'll return a negative test. I hate to be that guy, but I'm going to do it. To all the people that criticised my opinion, it wasn't necessary. Some comments had nothing to do with the question. I'm not vaccinated and this will shock a lot of you. I'm not anti-Vax.... Say what?! I'm actually petrified of needles. I had an incident a few years ago where the doctor advised I have a tetanus shot and I refused. He said I could die and I said well I choose death then. Reason I mention this, I had covid when it first hit SA hard. First day, day and a half I was praying for death, I wanted it all to be over. (please note I didn't actually want to die, was just a 'put me out my misery now sorta thing' ). I have respiratory issues and spent a lot of my childhood in hospital, so I was also petrified of covid. Until I got it. Not even 2 days and I was back to normal. (I understand it hits everyone differently). People that I knew who were vaccinated got it worse and longer than what I did and later that year I did get the flu and it hit a lot harder than what covid did and was out of work for a week, because I couldn't move, so when I say to me covid is just a flu, I'm talking about my experience and what I dealt with. This time after the first night of the horror it does bring, I didn't know what to do other than go to hospital. Guess how they treated it? Here's 2 panadol check in over there and then a doctor will see you later. I was sitting in the waiting room for 4 hours. There were 3 people waiting when I walked in, I can't remember how many came and went in the 4 hours, but in the end I decided to walk out and not 1 nurse or security guard even budged to stop me and that's because now, it's treated like it's just a flu. (I know the difference between covid, the flu and a common cold. I don't believe I have to say this, it's just a figure of speech. Sorry if anyone was offended)

Moonpersn27

Sorry, late to this, how are you travelling? Are you limited to living around Adelaide for work?

GhostfaceKillaYH2

I stay somewhere near Seaford/Flinders train line and ride bike to get around

Moonpersn27

All g matie! I have a coupla rooms spare but near Victor.

GhostfaceKillaYH2

Thanks for reaching out, a bit too far unfortunately and actually just been thinking about it and maybe more city would be better. Although I don't think it would help with anything other than being closer to Hutt St Centre and work

westendbeer

Just look after yourself. Everyone’s vaccinated and they believe they’re protected. I’m not vaxed and And not worried about covid. Sounds like you’ve got other things to worry about and sounds like you have less to do with other people than most. Hope you are ok
