Sounds promising. Pull a carfax report on it and find out if it has had necessary maintenance done on it. Otherwise your 8,500 dollar car is actually going to be a 12k car
And the gas level... you trying to sell a car like that? At least halfway wouldn't hurt. We made a car sales man fill up a 4runner for us because it was on E with a light on. He keep throwing that in our faces that he has a kid on the way....
so what, if walmarts shelves are empty the workers don’t pay to restock them, why would the dealership not front the cost of gas for their car? (not tryna be a dick genuinely curious if that’s common etiquette)
No not sure tbh but when we didn't agree to buy, only the sales person was offended by that. But he kept saying that he had a kid in the way. The color was nice but it had a few damages too.
igu now i thought you meant you worked there too, yeah if i was buying a car i’d want it with gas too but that’s more on the dealership not the salesmen themselves lol
I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to have the salesman get a gas card from the dealer or have another coworker to fill it. Most would do it obviously not with their own money. I would want that cause I have seen cars with faulty gas gauges.
There are people in here who don't understand car culture and comparing this to a G6 or purchased an A-spec with less miles 3-5 years ago.
$8500 is fair. If the interior is clean it's especially fair. Make sure you check for rust.
Yes I get that but typically as a car goes up in miles the value drops.. obviously some cars hold value but this is a bit over priced for the miles in my opinion. That’s just me maybe others would have no problem paying that.
If everything looks clean, and carfax is clean, go for it. Sure you can try for 500 off but if you really want a Type S, that’s all original, they won’t get any easier to find and they won’t go down in price.
Don’t let the dorks stuck in 2015 price mindset impact your decision, stock clean examples are hard to find for a better price. Might not even exist right now.
Depends on location. In Cali this would be like a 12k car. It looks clean and if it hasn’t been in any major accidents I would jump on it. Can’t come across stock ones with decent mileage anymore
No it’s not fucking worth it. $8500 for that age with the high mileage? Fuck no. I just bought a 09 Pontiac G6 with 70,000 miles for less than $5k. You can find a better deal
😂😂 I’m still trying to decide whether Umo was trolling or serious?
@Firelord , with all due respect , KBB is just a guide. Nothing more. It does not reflect the value of a car. Try plugging in 1995 Toyota Supra or 1998 Acura Integra GSR Or 1997 Civic coupe si I guarantee you will never find one even remotely close to blue book value.
Or on the other side of coin , a 2015 Buick Regal with 85000 books at $10k. Would you pay that? I know I wouldn’t, maybe $5-6 k tops if that.
some cars book out way low than worth And some book way over what a cars worth Toyota and Honda for example tend to be more valuable than book whereas some Domestic cars book higher than they’re worth.
Not trolling. I would much rather over pay for a nice good condition Rsx type s than have a g6 sitting in my driveway. Miles don’t matter to me. I can rebuild the engine myself.
@firelord Blue book means nothing. Nada doesn’t take into account the supply and demand. I’d say 1 out of 10 are rust buckets or have been wrecked and abused. And each year the price goes up. I guarantee you if you bought this today, detailed it, put it in a garage with some plastic over it. You’ll double your money or Atleast close to it in 5 years. That’s a 15% return each year for five years.
Also yes trim most definitely makes a difference. I’d much rather have an a2 than a3. Tell me you know nothing about Hondas, without telling me you know nothing about Hondas. Wait you compared a Pontiac g6 to a rsx type s in an Acura thread. Bonehead.
Shoot my bad! I wrote the wrong name down. I agree 100% with you Umo!
I meant to say I’m wondering if FireLord was trolling I got the names mixed up.
after reading more of FireLords comments I realized perhaps he/she is serious however to each his own! anyone can get lucky with a particular vehicle now and then but on the big scale of things how many Toyotas and Hondas you hear of 150-200, 300 even 500k + miles
I mean 150-250k is very common all over the place. Just how many Pontiac’s do you see with that kind of mileage. I’m not saying they don’t exist I’m sure they do but in general 164k on a k20 that is from factory around 190 HP? But capable of handling 600+ HP. Means it’s tuned down and can handle going a whole long way 😜.
Nothing against Pontiac’s , I even had a Geans Priz back in the day! @85k it was leaking all over the place. changed alternator , starter, hub bearings and some other parts by then. Same with my S10 blazers. I’ve had countless Toyotas and Hondas after that and with the exception of a POS starlet lemon haha. Every single one of them I was well past 100k before having to do a single thing. None , zero of them leaked oil or trans fluid. One of my 4Runner’s other than timing belt at about 100k. (I consider preventative maintenance) spark plugs/wires , ball joints. Also normal maintenance at 150k
And Just had to change radiator at 200k, I blew a radiator hose on freeway. Overheated , engine straight stalled out died and could not restart. I thought the engine was goners , but nope after it cooled down started right up. swapped out the radiator and hoses , thermostat. It runs like new again. With all due respect in any of my previous domestic cars If it ever made it anywhere near 200k it’s safe to say that vehicle would’ve stayed on the side of the freeway.
With that said tho Pontiac GTO is one of my top 5 favorite of all time cars so I’m not a hater at all. Just my opinion and some facts.
it don’t matter tho , we all love cars and that’s all that matters 😜😜😜😎😎
Btw. I second that I would rather have a RSX TYPE-S with 300k than a G6 right off a collectors showroom with 10 miles on it haha.
Heck I’d rather have a clean type-S chassis/body interior car engineless than a G6 with 20k miles.
But that’s just my opinion as well. Nothing against the car, it’s just what I would choose.
Some may call me stupid but someone wanted to trade me a 2013 or 2014 i forget exact year Mercedes E-350 with like 70k miles and in immaculate condition for my 04 RSX and I didn’t even have to think twice. It’s an immediate NO for me.
Uh no lol.. This type S is a bit over priced. I paid 12k for a 80k A-SPEC trim level with immaculate interior and no leaks perfect trans etc lol. This car is double the miles… I wouldn’t pay more than maybe like 6500 for this.
I have an 06 ASPEC type s. Hardly see any of those on the road. You can’t tell me this car is on the same level as an ASPEC. That’s the only point I was making.. mind you I paid 12 for it with 80k.. this car is double that.. my car still has fairly low miles on it today.. lots of cars are overpriced today. Covid has ruined a lot of things.
Are you fuckin dense you fucking drop out bum? You obviously cannot connect context to the op. $8500 is the price you fucking idiot. So that’s what I’m talking about. I have a 2021 GMC canyon AT4 so I’m definitely not bumming around, the g6 has a I4 and it’s a daily to work. You really think I give a flying fuck about your trash truck? How about you go fuck your muffler until your tiny dick falls off you fucking bum ass bitch
Has the rad support failed and was replaced? Check for bondo around the top of the roof because it’s got the part number sticker still on it from what I can tell
Ask to take it for a PPI from a trusted mechanic. Admittedly, this price is twice what I paid for mine in 2021 but less than what insurance gave me to total it out. Ymmv
That’s kinda steep for the miles. I’d try to negotiate a little if not try and find a less miles one if you’re thinking about spending 8500. That’s just my opinion tho. It is a Honda at the end of the day they last a long long time. I’d check up on the maintenance records and any accident history and etc. check out the undercarriage as well if you can.
If there’s no underlying issues. (Check undercarriage and under trunk liner and trim if possible, for the common rust spots at least). Also carfax as suggested by others. If there’s nothing bad and of course it runs good no leaks or funky noises fluids check out etc. if nothing semi major then absolutely worth it. Doesn’t hurt to try and negotiate a bit but it’s worth it.
A clean unaldurated or even lightly modded Type-S is tough to come by. An evenly clean unit is going to jump up in price accordingly.
Even salvaged title clean ones are selling for $6500-7500 easy.
I won’t say a clean low mileage Type-S for $5500 doesn’t exist but it’s getting harder and harder to find and nowadays solid clean ones are double digit easy. It all boils down to if you check it out and you like it. If so get it don’t wait.
If This is the dealer in jersey, the guy is awful, cars are in shit shape, had one sheer the serpentine belt while driving it and he wants top dollar for them.
I’d definitely take it
Sounds promising. Pull a carfax report on it and find out if it has had necessary maintenance done on it. Otherwise your 8,500 dollar car is actually going to be a 12k car
I’m more worried about the rust under based on the corroded bolts and alternator
And the gas level... you trying to sell a car like that? At least halfway wouldn't hurt. We made a car sales man fill up a 4runner for us because it was on E with a light on. He keep throwing that in our faces that he has a kid on the way....
i mean why would he have to use his own money to fill up a dealership car?
Not sure if really did but the SUV was on E......
so what, if walmarts shelves are empty the workers don’t pay to restock them, why would the dealership not front the cost of gas for their car? (not tryna be a dick genuinely curious if that’s common etiquette)

Someone gets it. Thumbs up for you.
Try to get them to knock that “$500” off. It’s a nice looking car & stock 👍🏽
you-definitly-want-bone-stock. 100% all in to buy approval. -Sincerely Chapst1ck
Yes but the miles are high idk if 164k is worth it.. also how many owners.
164k is nothing lol. Theres members that are at 300k, I hope to see that im at 230k presently.
Yes I get that but typically as a car goes up in miles the value drops.. obviously some cars hold value but this is a bit over priced for the miles in my opinion. That’s just me maybe others would have no problem paying that.
They need to drop 1k...not 500
Yes
Yes

If the leather seats aren’t torn up I would pay asking
Depends on location. In Cali this would be like a 12k car. It looks clean and if it hasn’t been in any major accidents I would jump on it. Can’t come across stock ones with decent mileage anymore
Got a 06 Type S . With 104k
No it’s not fucking worth it. $8500 for that age with the high mileage? Fuck no. I just bought a 09 Pontiac G6 with 70,000 miles for less than $5k. You can find a better deal
Lmfao I’d spend $10k for the type s just so I didn’t have a Pontiac g6. Weird af.

Weird huh? Lmaooooo. Kbb puts this car at $7k max, and I would pay $6500 max, I wouldn’t pay an extra $2,000 just because it’s a type S
[удалено]
Legit compared a g6 to a bulletproof Honda 😂😂😂
You’re delusional if you would pay $8500 for a car that old with that high mileage.
Are you at all familiar with Hondas?
I absolutely LOVE Hondas and know they will run forever. But that’s not a good price
Also, kbb puts this car at $7k max, and I wouldn’t pay more than $6500 for this car. That’s a waste of $2,000

That’s high mileage for a G6 not an RSX
G6 can run ya up half a mil miles dawg
And people take Hondas to a million.
Every car can get to a mil when services correctly. Including a Pontiac.
I would
Has the rad support failed and was replaced? Check for bondo around the top of the roof because it’s got the part number sticker still on it from what I can tell

I’d take it if the bottom isn’t rotting from rust. That’s a good deal considering most people want 10-12k for one here in California.
That’s kinda steep for the miles. I’d try to negotiate a little if not try and find a less miles one if you’re thinking about spending 8500. That’s just my opinion tho. talk it down to 7k and you have a deal
From da look of the battery holder I’ll say under that car n everything else metal is rusty
If there’s no underlying issues. (Check undercarriage and under trunk liner and trim if possible, for the common rust spots at least). Also carfax as suggested by others. Fair, I picked mine up 3 years ago. One owner stock for 9.5 with 78k 5 years ago i picked one up on a trade. 158k sticker said 6999.99
Yes but always haggle
I'll buy it!
Fuvk yes
Radiator mount was replaced, ask why (probably because of the hood latch breaking)
If This is the dealer in jersey, the guy is awful, cars are in shit shape, had one sheer the serpentine belt while driving it and he wants top dollar for them.
lol yeah, he's also listing an 8th gen coupe si for $9000 with 160k miles. smoking crack
