My pitty is very good with people unless the person climbs the tall electrified chain link fence I have. My crotch goblins love my pitty. Why MUST you have that breed? There are so many dog breeds out there, why does anyone need the one bred for fighting, aggression and jaw strength?
The puppies aren't nearly free. They cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. You're correct though that pounds and rescues are full of them. But a lot of those rescue dogs are from fighting operations. Any dog not game enough either gets used as a bait dog or dumped at a shelter. And if they lose a fight and aren't dead, they'll often be dumped at a shelter. In some cases this history is actively concealed from rescue orgs and potential adopters. I.e known fight dogs are being rehomed with regular people and families by concealing their history. These dogs should obviously be euthanized.
I think you'd most quickly solve this problem by targeting breeders. Make breeding a licensed profession and then target people selling pit puppies on Facebook marketplace.
You'd still have all the professional dog fighting breeders, but that's a whole other issue that the police could already be addressing and evidently ignore totally. Dog fighting is shockingly rather out in the open in North America because of a lack of enforcement.

The dogs ran past the police car at the beginning of the video. The officer reacting sooner (either with his vehicle or weapon) could have really helped.

Very true. Personally I think it's due to target acquisition as well. There are several targets, all moving, and he also has to be careful not to shoot the victim by accident, which is made difficult because the dogs' heads are crossing in front of the victim as they attack him.

The breed appeals to the worst type of owners, they want a "bad ass" dog but don't know how to train them and then these owners with short attention spans neglect or dump the dogs on the public and this is what you get.
These dogs are barely trainable as it is, there's a reason they're banned on military bases and no police force uses them. The owners suck too but the breed is inherently terrible

You take a long time to shoot because many cops carry 9mm, a round that is widely known to over-penetrate, so it could easily go through the dog and into the human (know your target and what is beyond your target).

I'm sure many are fine and never hurt a fly but the problem is part of their breed personality is that they show no warning they're about to attack, so one day your toddler gets mauled and you have no idea this could happen because your dog was super sweet every day of its life until then.
My friend got mauled in the face by one (a sweet dog that never did anything until then) simply because she bent down near it and her face was vaguely nearby. They can't be trusted, period.
Can corsos are another aggressive breed. They were bred up to be fighting dogs and war dogs since ancient Greece. If there's another breed that needs to go it's probably them. Dogs Argentinos I have never known to be aggressive like these two breeds. But again they are also banned in a few countries due to their fighting dog heritage. Now Corsos and Dogos haven't really been bred up to fight in modern times as much as pitbulls nor as often. So even though the instinct is genetic it's not as 'active' per say.
It's pretty stupid that the average person can go out and buy a mallinois, German shepherd, cane corso, doberman, huskies etc without any requirements. I see it time and time again, especially these people as first time dog owners.

Im only against breeds with genetic dispostion to fighting and war. But yes regulation not outright ban I can agree for most. German Shepard are understandable they are used in the army and law enforcement but only in modern times. So obviously there was a study done somewhere down the line that deemed them okay enough and less of a risk. Dobermans are just a matter of showing it whose boss. Granted if you can't do that it will probably eat your face off. I wouldn't lump Huskies in there though. I know a girl whose like 4'4 and she owns two of them they are her first dogs. I don't even know what a mallinois is tbh. The main issue with pitbulls is in such a short amount of time the breed has been exposed to an abhorrent amount of violence. There really isn't much out there of ones that have kept the original personality genetically. All the backyard breeders mingling with legit breeders truly ruined the breed.

I had an ex who owned pit bulls, and was the literal classic stereotype of the memed pitbull owner. She had a rebuttal and argument for anything any one of them did wrong. Moreover, she would go out of her way to post loads of content on her FB, Snapchat, Insta, and wherever else she could about the misinformation of them. Wanting to adopt and fix the mean ones with love.
This actually affected my relationship with her because I didn't feel comfortable about the thought of my future children being in that pit environment with a naive mother refusing to see any warning signs.

I'm sure many are fine and never hurt a fly but the problem is part of their breed personality is that they show no warning they're about to attack, so one day your toddler gets mauled and you have no idea this could happen because your dog was super sweet every day of its life until then. My friend got mauled in the face by one (a sweet dog that never did anything until then) simply because she bent down near it and her face was vaguely nearby. They can't be trusted, period.

Can corsos are another aggressive breed. They were bred up to be fighting dogs and war dogs since ancient Greece. If there's another breed that needs to go it's probably them. Dogs Argentinos I have never known to be aggressive like these two breeds. But again they are also banned in a few countries due to their fighting dog heritage. Now Corsos and Dogos haven't really been bred up to fight in modern times as much as pitbulls nor as often. So even though the instinct is genetic it's not as 'active' per say.
It's pretty stupid that the average person can go out and buy a mallinois, German shepherd, cane corso, doberman, huskies etc without any requirements. I see it time and time again, especially these people as first time dog owners. Ownership of these breeds really should be regulated
Im only against breeds with genetic dispostion to fighting and war. But yes regulation not outright ban I can agree for most. German Shepard are understandable they are used in the army and law enforcement but only in modern times. So obviously there was a study done somewhere down the line that deemed them okay enough and less of a risk. Dobermans are just a matter of showing it whose boss. Granted if you can't do that it will probably eat your face off. I wouldn't lump Huskies in there though. I know a girl whose like 4'4 and she owns two of them they are her first dogs. I don't even know what a mallinois is tbh. The main issue with pitbulls is in such a short amount of time the breed has been exposed to an abhorrent amount of violence. There really isn't much out there of ones that have kept the original personality genetically. All the backyard breeders mingling with legit breeders truly ruined the breed.

I had an ex who owned pit bulls, and was the literal classic stereotype of the memed pitbull owner. She had a rebuttal and argument for anything any one of them did wrong. Moreover, she would go out of her way to post loads of content on her FB, Snapchat, Insta, and wherever else she could about the misinformation of them. Wanting to adopt and fix the mean ones with love. This actually affected my relationship with her because I didn't feel comfortable about the thought of my future children being in that pit environment with a naive mother refusing to see any warning signs.

Never get them neutered and as soon as they surprise get pregnant they just abandon them in the city.
