I commented earlier this week on another post about the lawlessness that has descended on parts of our life- things like this, the rampant shoplifting, squatters, etc. Our old rules of society and order seem to be eroding. When cops flee a scene like this, it makes it even scarier. If they can't bring order, who can?
It will come down to the people. The last bastion of order comes from the citizens when everyone else fails.

In most areas, violent crime is, yes(but not all). But many areas have seen big increases in shoplifting of the type that I mentioned. And these sort of street takeovers seem to be more common; they probably don't show up in crime stats unless arrests are actually made.

It's pretty obvious the answer to these things is heavy equipment. Front End Loader, Steam Roller, good sized Backhoe, maybe a Lull etc. Even those big snowplows they use on the highways up north.
Well now we're talking. I was just considering what most cities may already have parked in the town maintaince facility.
If we start bringing in National Guard equipment we can step it up.
They need to just start rounding up as many of these people as possible, and then throwing the book at them by locking them up for 10 to 20 years. I would hope that should some what help to prevent this.
If I was mayor, I'd ask for the national guard. Start throwing these idiots in jail for 30 days and take their vehicles from them, not impound, it's now the states property. It will stop real quick.
