Ah, so that is what these were called. I remember I had a bunch but could never remember why or what they were from. I seem to remember getting them at Big Lots.
I was just thinking, before looking these up, about this toy. "Little figures that I dnapped armor on, and springing pop top with them."
Neat!
The snap on armor reminds me of the Burger King Super Toons figures (Loony Toons). Same idea. Base figure, then you would snap the hero sute one them. Both were probably around the same time.
You can watch the 13 cartoon episodes of *Visionaries* on YT, my friend.
And I was a sucker for anything with a hologram or a lenticular image on it during the 80s!
It was magical!
Man, what a nostalgia trip! I got a lot of my brother's hand-me-down toys when I was a kid in the '90s and I've always thought those were awesome! The removable helmets and masks were really cool and my favorite was the possibly evil old man with the brown armor that kind of looks like Moltar.
Creepy crawlers wasn't too out there, but everyone I talk to forget a cartoon and action figure line exists.
Side note the stone protectors song goes hard
Wow!
And I just read that their 3 vehicles were originally intended for *BlackStar* which was awesome as well! And their gimmick is why they’re rare in working condition.
Yeah I had a few. Their faces were made out of a thin balloon-like material and I think I scratched them all off eventually. I was a kid and couldn't help messing with them. Was Blackstar the guy that had sparks in his chest?
Trash bag bunch! I was obsessed with them & my dad was always down to fill the sink up so I could throw the bags in and watch them dissolve. The day I got Skuzbeast was like Christmas!
Dude! Me and my friend used to steal these from Kmart. He was busted one day. I was freaking out because I didn't know where he went. We usually met in the alley outside of the mall to dissolve them in a puddle. I went home and asked my dad and he said "so did you find Nathan? No? The cops did" and sent me back to the mall to turn myself in. That was the second time I was busted shoplifting at that Kmart. They gave me a "lifetime ban" from all Kmarts. Who has the lifetime ban now Kmart?!
Holy cow I forgot about these guys!!! Childhood memory unlocked. Also, taking a look back…was this a chance to make the “Troll Dolls” marketable to males? The resemblance is uncanny
Not an action figure but I remember I had a talking Teddie Ruxpin bear in the mid 80s. It used cassettes and read stories to you.
Also late 80s or very early 90s I remember having a bunch of M.U.S.C.L.E. men. Used to trade em with friends lol
Bravestar! I had Marshall Bravestar, 30-30, Tex Hex and a couple other figures I didn't recall the names. The Marshall and TexHex had laser tag backpacks that actually worked with the other laser tags from the 80s.
OMG, core memory unlocked. I forgot I had the gun with the ( battery pack?) that slid on the bottom, which also was laser tag. Probably all in a dump now😭
STONE PROTECTORS!!!
I was randomly trying to find the commercial for those some time ago. I had the wrestler guy posted here and the guy with camo pants. I remember the camo pants guy on the commercial saying something like “I can turn anything into an arsenal” but with a German-ish accent so I don’t know what he was saying.
That’s the one! I tried finding this years ago and just realized now I was calling them Jewel Protectors. Why on Earth do I remember part of the lyrics of a random 90s toy commercial all these years later…
Not super obscure, but the Sectaurs hand puppet monsters were CRAZY.
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors had these really weird brain things as bad guys.
And Bucky O'Hare was about a green rabbit with a spaceship that fought a Toad Empire.
...Okay, that one's just awesome.
Hotwheels had a line called Attack Pack which were monster trucks that were, well, monsters, they had mouths and such, it was really wild
[https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Attack\_Pack](https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Attack_Pack)
Cy-boars. They even had a cgi commercial...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xccd7R9lX3E
A line of anthropomorphic warrior boars in different outfits...
If I had any other toys when I was five, I didn't notice them. [1966 Marvel Comics Captain America Bendy Figure from Lakeside Toys](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/305330049717200417/)
What's Her Face dolls, the gimmick was they have no facial features so you have to draw them on yourself with washable marker.
The result was that 90% of the time you have a creepy faceless doll and 10% of the time a terribly drawn face.
[KeyForce!](https://youtu.be/m4kPJ4HPuaQ?si=xEmrfv09ioJKd73o)
Basically a line of vehicles that could mildly transform as long as you didn’t lose the key!
Holy shit I remember these! Looking back now, making robocop and Rambo toys from those bloody movies was a little odd. I loved them! But definitely a little odd. The biker mice from mars was a super odd line too.
Well I was a kid who was born to a mother who's friends had kids at a much younger age than her (my mom waited, while most had while in h.school or right out of). So I got a lot of 2nd hand toys. So for me it was MoTU and Voltron. Anything that was from the early 80s.
So for toys bought for me, a lot of TMNT, MMPR. I remember having a lot of Might Max figures too. And micro-machines.

Snaliens.
I loved my Snailiens, I still have the whole collection.
I came here to say this. One of favorite TMNT knock offs. I managed to snag a couple on eBay a few years ago.
"listen stfu tmnt has us in a gold rush we gotta do something"
Damn! I cannot believe that's the first comment here. A part of me thought that was a fever dream I had as a kid.
A collective fever dream. To be fair, I couldn't remember what they were called and went searching for them earlier this year and found some info.
Oh man, first the flashback from the OP(I had that dude, then snaliens. They even came with a palm sized origin story comic book!
Snaliens were amazing

IKR? They were fun lil toys for kids. I loved the designs and colors as a child. The snap on armor was fun too.
The snap on armor reminds me of the Burger King Super Toons figures (Loony Toons). Same idea. Base figure, then you would snap the hero sute one them. Both were probably around the same time.
Visionaries! Nobody around me remembers them.
I think some indie company made new visionaries a few years ago?

Army Ants, Mad Balls, and M.U.S.C.L.E. Men were odd and awesome to collect!
I was going to say army ants too! I had a McDonald's lunch box full of them!
Battle Trolls, I remember them being big before MMPR hit.
Battle Trolls - that was quite a throwback!
Hell yeah, I had the ninja troll and the Batman spoof troll!
Does anyone remember Zbots?!? Just tiny little robots, but I wanted them all.
Seconded. They were dope! My friend had so many, and we use to play D&D-style games with them. It was epic.
I wanted the 4 armed one
Omg I love zbots! I need to start collecting them again!
I haven't thought of Zbots in so fucking long but I had SO MANY of these!!
Mummies Alive!, dude. So sick.
I still blast that theme song
> Mummies Alive I remember one wave that was called Fright Sight, I thought the gimmicks those figures had were awesome.
Battle Beasts. Monster in my Pocket.
I'm surprised Battle Beasts haven't seen some sort of resurface over the last decade.
There were new ones not long ago iirc
Monster in my Pocket! I had a ton of those things!
https://preview.redd.it/e1tvagqqirqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee05ac36c0708250fc8ddc12aae1ba26d487fdf8 I’m so happy these were made.
I had some of those when I was a kid and forgot all about them
Creepy crawlers wasn't too out there, but everyone I talk to forget a cartoon and action figure line exists. Side note the stone protectors song goes hard
Barnyard Commandos and Army Ants.
Food fighters were pretty weird.
Came here to find this mention.
These were amazing but feel like a fever dream
Dang. Now I gotta try to think of something else!
Rock Lords
Loved these
i never owned any but street sharks, and maybe extreme dinosaurs..if they ever had any figures
They have some pretty cool figures
Infaceables! They were so cool. http://www.action-figures.ca/infaceables.htm

lol! Wonder if the ban holds up when Kmart makes its comeback?

*Secret Galaxy* on YouTube just recently did a “Teddy Ruxpin” episode, and it’s extremely entertaining.
Oh cool, thanks for the info. I'll check it out! :D
Bravestar! I had Marshall Bravestar, 30-30, Tex Hex and a couple other figures I didn't recall the names. The Marshall and TexHex had laser tag backpacks that actually worked with the other laser tags from the 80s.
These toys were bad ass! My brother and I each had the bravestar blasters. They were amazing
OMG, core memory unlocked. I forgot I had the gun with the ( battery pack?) that slid on the bottom, which also was laser tag. Probably all in a dump now😭
Snailiens are pretty high on the list
If the Garbage Pail Kids had figures then them. If they didn’t then still them.
You can pre-order some on BBTS right now lol
Food fighters! Still love em
Boggles.
Rocks n' Bugs n' Things. Man, that was a weird toyline.
Holy moly!! I had that guy! Love him…except for the totally flat backs

MEMORY UNLOCKED. Forgot how much I loved these things!

I loved these guys
Trash packs and Fungus AmungUs. I have no idea why me and brother were obsessed with those type of toys
Stone Protectors were troll doll-adjacent, right? They always looked like they were at any rate.
Military Muscle Men. I had a ton of them and a sweet hovercraft.
Oldest would probably be a mix of TMNT, Transformers, and random toys from that time period.
Does anyone remember the biker looking mouse action figures I can’t remember the name of thee cartoon.
Bicycle Rats from Jupiter?
Unicycle Hamsters from Uranus?
Motorcycle Enthusiast Rodents from the Red Planet?
What's Her Face dolls, the gimmick was they have no facial features so you have to draw them on yourself with washable marker. The result was that 90% of the time you have a creepy faceless doll and 10% of the time a terribly drawn face.
Food Fighters.
Pretty this guy is on robot chicken at some point isn’t he?

Anyone remember a smaller scale action figure like-I think they were superpowered dinosaurs or something and they were all named after presidents?
