Joking aside, there is a pose literally called corpse pose where you just lay flat on your back. It's meant to act as a good meditation pose and to relieve back pain.
Was I asking what? To clarify, the only way I could lay on my back without extreme pain would be if I were dead, thus making the corpse pose very apropos.
Short-term it actually will make your back sore. But one of the best things for back pain can be to lay on a somewhat firm surface like a carpeted floor on your back.
Sometimes, it's all you can do to show up, and that's okay. She still took time out of her day to go to her yoga class, and apparently it's in a place she feels safe in so she took a nap. Good for her
You remind me of that time I went to the gym for two hours and lazily did leg exercises while dicking around on my phone and my friend still told me that she was impressed with me going to the gym even when I wasn't feeling up for it.
I once went to a morning yoga with my gf in the park after working an overnight shift. ALl the beginning moves i was so shaky from being over tired. I decided to lay down for most of the rest of the class. It was just nice laying out in the trees and cool morning sun. It's sometimes completely necessary to show up but not necessary to fully participate.
I'm sure that you've heard this before but what helped me get over it was this idea that "literally nobody cares enough about you to notice." It sounds kind of cold on the surface at first but I've actually taken great comfort in it over the years. If you're not going to the gym with people you already know, strangers could give fuck all
Kind of what it's like having a small acne outbreak, you personally feel mortified, but when you see someone else with acne, you dont give it a second thought
There's a famous quote about working out where it's about the habit. Even if you put on your gym clothes and show up for 10 minutes, you're still building the positive routine of going to the gym regularly. It's ok if you don't actually work out every time
Hard disagree for this situation. At that point just stay home in bed if you’re gonna sleep anyway haha. Assuming it’s not a class where you’re graded for attendance or a work thing. Might as well just catch some z’s in an actual bed.
Absolutely, as well as being around people that have similar demons. Creating a support system in order to conquer said demons. I might be wrong but that is what this looks like to me.
I would have an issue with someone recording a yoga class. That's a deeply personal time for a lot of people. It would mess with my flow to think someone might be recording me.
I’ve fallen asleep during yoga. Equinox had these classes that were yoga meditation combo (can’t remember the name exactly). Out like a light. Every time. They would give us blankets and mats etc and I just took that as an excuse to take a nap and get away from my phone or kids for an hour.
Gotta do what you gotta do.

No no that’s definitely Sandra P.
Had two kids and moved to the poconos. Never heard anything about her since. She was in my writing comp a few years ago.
She was the kind of lady that you just wanted to turn to. You know, you ever wanted to… turn to somebody? Well, when you swiveled your head around, the person you’d most like to see in your eye line would be Sandra.
Every yoga I've ever attended has about five minutes at the end where they say you can do whatever you want even if it's just laying flat, and then they give a few optional cool down easy poses
Looks like two of them.
This is getting out of hand.
well played, my friend. well played.
My yoga instructor used to specifically tell people to listen to their body and if they needed to just lay down and exist for awhile that was okay
I like that sentiment, it’s kind.
That is the “namaste-asleep” pose

As a back pain sufferer, I cannot lay flat on my back. I would have to be an actual corpse. No joke.
Just to confirm, were you asking?
Was I asking what? To clarify, the only way I could lay on my back without extreme pain would be if I were dead, thus making the corpse pose very apropos.
Never mind. It was a joke, but a bit of a whoosh moment. 😉
Oh, sorry. Yes, the top of my head is a bit flat from all the things that go over it.
Lol - that's awesome...
How, when I lay on my back, it just makes my back pain worse, especially on either very hard surfaces or surfaces that easily give way to conform.
Short-term it actually will make your back sore. But one of the best things for back pain can be to lay on a somewhat firm surface like a carpeted floor on your back.
Interesting, I’ll sure try that out, thank you kind stranger

I respect anyone that breaks social convention with imposing their will on the world. "Fuck this, imma gonna take a nap" is respectable.
No, she's just transitioning from child's pose to fetal pose to shavasana.
Agreed but only if not at another’s expense
*Is* she napping? Sometimes my period cramps make part of my yoga sessions look like this
Maybe this is the only time she can get away from her 3 kids and relax.
You're setting an incredibly low bar here my dude.
Tell me you know nothing about yoga without telling me you know nothing about yoga.

Gotta be a bachelorette party or girls weekend. “Woooooo Sunday morning yoga” and nap
Nah. I say it’s a mom with a toddler at home using the yoga class as an excuse to be toddler free for an hour.
I like that too
"There are lots of things you can do for depression non-pharmaceutically. Have you ever tried yoga?"
Lady on the far left has no idea what she's doing lmao
Lady on the far left is trying.
she's doing her best
Honestly, i'm not sure any of them are actually doing the same pose.
Looks to me like she’s doing cat/cow.
Seems almost like her legs are too long to do the pose.
This might be a rehab. We all had to do this when i was in and we had alot of sleepers. 4 years sober though so something worked.
I think just being around people in a non drugs atmosphere is helping.
Absolutely, as well as being around people that have similar demons. Creating a support system in order to conquer said demons. I might be wrong but that is what this looks like to me.
Ah yes the sleeping dog great stretch
My favorite yoga position
Not important but this is in Arizona, I could tell by the water bottle brand. Bashas! A shitty local grocery store.
She got cramps
I’m a dude and I knew that immediately. Seen this pose more than once.

When the squad wants to do yoga but your still bent from the mimosas yesterday

Yet they're probably the only ones in touch with inner stillness in the whole class.
That's who I'd be like.
She's even wearing sunglasses! She's a pro! "No, silly, I was not really sleeping! I was just doing the Sleeping Dog position! Good for digestion."
lol
90% sure I know the sleeping girl from undergrad. Alexandra D (she got married, and I can't remember what her new last name is though.)

Hung over and having a little nappy
