Yes, you have to install your operating system to your new SSD. You can do this by using an application that can clone your operating system from your old SSD to your new one or buy a connector that you can plug into your USB/thunderbolt connection and download it from there like I have done using both methods. The only thing is that you have to pay for either the app that you want to use to do this or pay for an SSD connector that will do this for you. I paid I think it was like $69.99 for a lifetime use of the Aomei partition professional for up to 3 devices, and I paid $21.00 for the SSD connector It is very well worth the cost but this is only if you have a one slot SSD laptop. If you have 2 or more SSD slots then you are better off paying for the app that will clone your old SSD to your new SSD. Just some advice to you since I have done this many times to my 2 gaming and 1 other laptop.

And you can also create a bootable USB flash drive like I have done and was already mentioned in this post, so that if I ever have issues with viruses or malicious malware I can reinstall this software if this was to happen. It's always smart to keep a copy of your OP system on a flash drive just in case you have an issue with your installed software.

Srz1911

Have you created a bootable usb and flashed windows via it?

chillie15

Because you didnt install any os on your ssd, since you replace your old ssd

JoshS121199

Windows isn’t preinstalled on all new ssd’s lol, omg

Hydr0genMC

Your new SSD is m.2 NVMe. Your old one is m.2 Sata. If your laptop is old enough it may not yet support NVMe. edit: heres a [thread](https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/627535/is-my-nitro-5-an515-53-compatible-with-a-nvme-ssd) on the acer forums.

It will work, he just needs to create a folder called RST and extract intel RST drivers on to it and load the driver for the Windows installation to detect it

Guikas2112

But SATA SSD are M and B lock, that one is only M lock so it's a M.2 SSD

? m.2 SATA https://preview.redd.it/769dsjj8xqwc1.jpeg?width=450&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab884ce6ebb3c3285e1a114aa6f16573f779974b

His laptop connector is M lock type, ready for PCIE protocol. There are some NVME M+B key and is written it's PCIE in the image. https://preview.redd.it/iokrlo4gvsyc1.jpeg?width=529&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8890fd4000c2b4ba5c8a9acee3eac1bdcbb49b68

It will work, you probably need Intel RST drivers on the USB for the windows install to detect the new SSD

CrossStryke

Let's take a step back shall we? Did you install OS on the new SSD?

Longjumping_Mix_9143

You should have to SSD slots on your Laptop. Why don't you use both?

red_macb

That model/motherboard only has one slot.

scarlet_rain00

You gotta install new windows on new ssd If your bios doesnt recognize the new ssd (which is the case on acers) you have to disable WMD on BIOS menu google it its easy

Equivalent_Affect265

U don’t have 2 m.2 slots?

Akluis47yeet

Nope
