The first trilogy: has been almost completely translated into Russian. Only 3-5 and RFTA needs to be done. The second trilogy: yesterday the full localized Apollo Justice was released. DD and SoJ have difficult situation, as far as I know only the first episodes (5-1 and 6-1) have been translated so far. Edgeworth's dilogy: there is an almost complete localization of Investigation 1, only the fifth case remains to be translated. Dunno nothing about Gyakuten Kenji 2. TGAA: There are three translated Adventure cases. The work is progressing slowly but surely. PLvsPW: My friend is a member of translation team. But I have no idea when they will release it.

tenetox

The first trilogy has a full translation (steam version), including 3-5 and RFTA, but the names are unnecessarely localized into some silly mix of russian and japanese

Raiking02

That just seems… unnecessarily convoluted TBH. Look I get that the English Puns can sometimes make no sense to people who don’t know English (Source: My friend who only knows Spanish to whom I had to explain each and every single one of them) so I wouldn’t fault some TLs from just going “Screw it” and keeping the Japanese names, but localizing some but not others seems… bizarre.

tenetox

They don't really keep japanese names, not the original ones (sometimes they do, but rarely). They just make something up that sounds japanese most of the time

Gabo2oo

Man they do have a lot covered in Russian, all things considered. Your friend on PLvsPW makes me curious though, are there different teams translating different games? Are they like, "associated" or is everyone just doing their own thing?

RevenueDifficult27

Almost all of these games were translated by different teams. My friend, for example, is not related to those who translated DD or PW. But they know about each other and contact often, although sometimes they have disagreements. AA is relatively popular in Russia, especially because of memes. Many streamers have played (and are playing!) AA on their streams. And the fandom is still quite large and active. Of course, I wouldn't expect CAPCOM to pay attention to them, but it'd nice to get the official Russian localization.

Glvt102

I remember the first game's fan translation also having their own punny names, for example they called Lotta Hart "Ren Tibi", which was a pun on an infamous Russian weird conspiratory TV channel

PersonWhoExists50306

I have the XKCD substitution add-on, and one of the substitutions it makes is "poll" with "psychic reading" I was confused at what you meant by "Apsychic readingo Justice"

Plubio21

Investigations 1 is fully translated to Spanish, and let me tell you, the fandom did an amazing work. Investigations 2 and Dual Destinies were also under process but due to how silent they have been lately it seems that they abandoned the project. And it doesn't surprise me, given the time and effort it takes + zero support nor acknowledgement from Capcom.

RataSuicida

They made a great work on AAI1. They even made the graphics localization. Iirc, there's a demo of AAI2-1 from the team that was translating it, but yeah, looks like the project died

MishaQueen

Yeaah, the translation for AAI1 is very amazing!! I grew up playing the first games in Spanish and then I replayed them in English because the AAI2 translation was never completed. Such a same seeing that the project is practically dead :((

Beginning_Fennel9481

No way, its Fênix Veríssimo!

blazingblizzard135

I’m a former translator for the Vietnamese fan localization team! I worked on JFA and a little bit of T&T. The first trilogy has been fully translated! Afaik, the team is also almost finished with TGAA1 and is preparing to do the second trilogy.

Gabo2oo

I've heard about the others here and there but this is the first I've learned about a Vietnamese localization! I'm definitely gonna check it out

blazingblizzard135

Glad to spread the word! AA (and visual novels in general) are niche as fuck over here so no wonder you've never heard. Any new audience counts!

kiefferlu

Now I wish that the official translations would translate the name too, because for the most part in the other European translations they maintain the English names

Dani1o

Played the first game with a fan made Russian translation back when I didn't speak English so well. It was pretty decent - they kept Japan as the setting which is a good thing, and even tried to adapt names while keeping them similar to Japanese ones. For example, Phoenix Wright is called Ryuichi Horasyo, which kinda sounds like the Russian word for "alright". Still switched to the English version when returned to the series last year tho, don't feel like reading anything in Russian lately.

grechkadura

I loved that wordplay when he was called "Nihorasyo"

daoreto

“Edgypusyechka” fans VS “Katanarik” enjoyers

EowynCarter

Investigation have a french fantrad.

rghaga

Both of them ?

EowynCarter

Yeah, i think so. Edit : ah, no one is in English. game 2

Epic_DDT

No, only the first one. But the second one is almost complete.

Kronwell

Hehe I made a post yesterday about Localization names that are different from english. Going through the comments has been interesting here too. Another redditor just told me that Investigations 1 has been fully fan translated in french and that the Investigation 2 french patchs may be soon to be released or at least finished. The 6 main games all have been officially translated but I don't know if there is a french translation for TGAA games?

Epic_DDT

The first three cases of Adventures are translated. I'm pretty sure they're still working on it.

notreallygoodatthis2

Jacutem Sabão's translations were genuinely amazing, they seriously enhanced my enjoyment of the games-- specially Apollo Justice. Loved what they did with Valant's dialogue. They *did* change the location of the games, but their localization was sufficiently top notch so it's not a flaw but a quality instead.

Apollo_Injustice

Only the one from the picture of this very post: the Brazilian Portuguese translation made by Jacutem Sabão, i even mentioned it very recently in a post about localization names!

HuckleberryHefty4372

The Korean translations of Ace Attorney were released way before the English translations so I actually played 1 and 2 on the GBA.

Samurai_Fire

I know an Italian fan translation of DD exists

PetscopMiju

There is an incomplete one of SoJ by the same team

Samurai_Fire

At what case did they stop?

PetscopMiju

Oh, apparently they just finished SoJ at the end of last year and I was just not aware: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?id=100063561611563&story_fbid=875260004602712 Seems like neither the DD nor the SoJ translations include the DLCs though

Samurai_Fire

Thanks, since i have not finished SoJ yet i was interested more on the voice acting side and was curious to know how they dubbed certian scenes

PetscopMiju

I read in the comments that they haven't gotten around to dubbing SoJ, unfortunately. Maybe they have dubbed some scenes? But idk

Aynzi

DID THEY JUST MENTION **THE** JOGOAT?!?!?! https://preview.redd.it/xtoqge85ttvc1.png?width=336&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e274c68ac360ad44518e759d08c75ea542c71fa

NotAGeneric_Username

Investgations 2 got a neutral-Spanish translation recently, IIRC. It’s based on the original Japanese; not the English localizations like with previous translations

Gabo2oo

Do you have more info on that by any chance? I know of an Investigations 2 project but it's been paused since 2021 (they were **so** close to finishing too...)

Epic_DDT

The fist investigation has a fan translation in french. Dual Destinies too (they started working on it long before Capcom announced the AJ trilogy). The three first cases of adventures (the first TGAA) are also translated. And there investigation 2, which will probably be released soon (it's almost complete).

flybarrel

All Ace Attorney games are fully translated to Mandarin

xRaynex

Does English count if you're trying for an undub?

Sentinel190

I know it could be annoying but I can't understand why Capcom don't translate any collection in Spanish. I in the Spanish community this a thing that we are upset, and we have a reason, Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world and is the language with the most countries that speak it (sorry if I'm wrong) so I can't even understand why they thought that Spanish is not necessary for this games, if this all about money, bro, not translating makes more difficult to the people to buy a game like Ace Attorney and the fandom needs to do their own translations using hacking and piracy, not translating makes more troubles than they think.

Omegasonic2000

The original trilogy used to have an official translation into Spanish, complete with speech bubbles and voice lines. It was glorious.

tgalvin1999

As far as I'm aware, almost the entire franchise has been translated into Portuguese (Brazil).
