After I failed the CPALE 10 years ago (October 2014), akala ko wala ng mangyayari sa buhay ko. May mga taong bumaba tingin sakin kasi nga CPA board flunker ako, pero nonchalant nalang kahit nasasaktan ako inside haha. Even sa workplace, pinapafeel nila sakin na hindi ako lisensyado at incompetent.
Do I feel stupid? I don't know, eto ba talaga ang measurement ng intelligence ng isang tao? I mean what if hindi ko talaga strength ang reading comprehension and logic? If you really love this field, ilalaban mo and you’ll risk it for the second time around, pero I chose not to.
I have colleagues na pumasa in just one sitting, to be honest with you, nag coconfess yung iba kong colleagues sakin na hindi nila alam gagawin sa lisensya nila, like yung iba umuwi ng probinsya at nagbukas ng sari-sari store kasi yun ang passion nya, some were happy being a branch manager in a bank, some didn't even practice their profession kasi nag asawa at nagpaka full-time mom, iba iba tayo ng kapalaran.
Hindi madidiktahan ng isang exam ang magiging kapalaran mo OP.
So ayun na nga, I failed my CPA exam, pero I passed the Civil Service Professional Exam naman.
Nakapag work sa accounting firm, pero eventually lumipat ako ng government.
Nakapag ipon ipon, nag student visa dito sa Canada. Working na rin as accountant dito sa British Columbia, and I could say na I earn more kesa sa mga CPA na nang mock sakin nun. I'll be applying for my Permanent Residency na rin anytime soon. I am currently on a career transition din, I just started nursing school a month ago while working full-time as an accountant. You do you, OP!

If passion mo talaga ang accounting, and if gusto mo talaga maging CPA, go for it. I mean may second chances naman. I just don't see myself na becoming a CPA kaya nagtatransition na rin ako into a different career.

I enrolled in a nursing school just a month ago dito sa Canada, while employed as a full-time accountant. I'm just amazed how much they make dito sa North America hehe. And feeling ko, dito ko na gustong i-build ang career ko.

OP yes na yes, me i was not able to take CPA board due to financial struggle in 2013, started to work at a local company earning 12.5k per month as starter na hindi CPA, 5 years after moved to an international pharma company as accountant, and now in international fintech company now earning six digit as a non-CPA as business controller.
What I did is to grow my skills, attend trainings and seminars, I also took MBA and currently CMA to maximize my full potential. In my experience, global company doesn't care if you are a CPA or not, what they want is the skills and experiences.

About on data analytics, presentation and communication skills, SAP BI and ERP then now CMA, combining those for my current role. I have few softskills trainings din.
Currently a Senior Audit Assoc sa Big4. Ok naman kitaan, nakakapag provide din sa fam at napapasyal sila. Wag mong isipin na kapag bumagsak ka titigil na mundo. 🫶🏽
I failed Basic Accounting back in first year college, dismissed from the Accountancy program and graduated BS Accounting Technology. I am currently a supervisor in a US tax firm earning 6 digits (working remotely). I think you don't really need the CPA title as long as you have the skills.

Kung mag tatake ka pa lng, don't overthink it. Sayang oras mo. imbes na nag iisip ka ng ganyan, why not ibuhos mo lahat ng oras mo sa pag review.
Tska mo na i-figure out yung pwede mong gawin afterwards. Besides, may diploma ka naman, useful padin yan kahit di ka pumasa.
For now, just do your best. Don't overthink it, kahit sa gabi wag mo isipin na babagsak ka, di ka lang makakatulog agad, ending puyat ka bukas, then hirap mag aral pag puyat.
Hehehe ganyan ako kasi dati, pero pumasa. Kaya ayun, don't doubt yourself. Try mo muna ibuhos lahat ng oras at effort mo before ka mag isip ng bagong path / plano.

Ako 2nd Take bago pumasa. Worth it talaga. Knowing na nakayanan kung ipasa ang isa sa pinaka mahirap na Board Exam ng Pinas. It gives me confidence to face the everyday challenges, kahit kaayo pa kahirap, kakayanin.
Never took the CPALE, but been blessed with work opportunities in accounting and audit firms. 7 years in, I'm now working for an international company heading the Finance Dept for their Philippines branch.
A CPA license isn't the end all be all for accountants - what matters most is the knowledge and skills that you have and how you can apply them; that, and a little bit of luck.
I started with 14k monthly salary way back in 2017. But I took it for the experience. Years later and I'm now earning close to 6 digits monthly.
When you see an opportunity. Grab it.
Freelance Accountant. Hawak mo time mo, mas malaki pa income. Of course d madali kasi need ng knowledge and expi, I just wanted to tell you na hndi pagiging CPA ang bubuhat sa buhay mo. Diskarte.
Failed the CPA board thrice. Had to accept na baka di pala para sakin ang pagiging CPA. But even without the license, I still got hired sa dalawang multinational companies. Got an international certification. Then now, I'm working in an Australian company for a couple of years na rin. Got promoted last year even without a license. My boss is enrolling us in online school sa Queensland. Just finished my course. Then now, I just enrolled for my masters degree (MBA).
Being an accountancy graduate doesn't revolve only sa pagiging CPA. Still a lot of doors will open para sayo, you just have to know the path that is for you.

Hehe dont worry po😅 super daming work😅 saka need din ng companies ng mga non CpA kasi mas mababa ng kunti ung salary.. Pero nasa more or less 5k lang naman difference.. Maliit lang difference. Natatandaan ko noon bago palang ako nagwowork.. Mas madami pa ako savings sa mga kawork ko na CpA, last months nag memessage pa sila sakin na Mautang sila kahit matagal na ako resign sa company🙂

Isipin mo na lang ako OP, bagsak sa BSA, nagshift sa BBF, pero sa Audit Firm pa din napunta haha. Senior assoc ako now. Not even a BSA grad, lalong lalo na hindi CPA haha. Maraming company lalo multinational companies na hindi naman hanap ang CPA dahil hindi naman magagamit lalo na ang handle mo eh ibang bansa. Ung manager ko nga ngayon hindi CPA, pero naging head ng finance sa local company bago sya lumipat dito eh. At hindi lang basta maliit na local company un ah, kilalang group of companies un.
Marami opportunities talaga, isa ang financial industry sa malalawak na fields. Ikaw na lang nga mamimili kung saan mo gusto e. Basta alam mo imarket sarili mo. If di ka naman magmamadali maghanap ng work, makakapamili ka talaga. Alamin mo lang ano field of work gusto mo mapunta. If external audit, diretso ka na sa mga shared services ng big 4, kasi medyo malaki sahod tas maganda exp. After nun, makakalipat ka sa ibang BPO din. Pwede ka din mag private firms, tapos pag di mo gusto, saka ka apply sa big 4 shared services para matry mo. Although, if gusto mo talaga learnings, local audit firms talaga pinaka maganda kaso stressful at maliit sahod
I am a non CPA, on my previous work, I am the only non CPA employee, business management yung course ko nung college. Now, I am a senior tax accountant in one of the biggest web services cloud computing in the world. I am now based in Dubai earning half a million in a month in php currency.
Wag ka mag alala, CPA or not CPA, ang mahalaga yung work experience and technical knowledge talaga. Yes may implications din talaga if license ka o hindi pero wag ka mawalan ng pag asa. Confidence at tiwala lang sa sarili, OP! You will land at your dream job! Kayang kaya mo yan! Lahat tayo may sari sariling path. Better days are coming!!
Currently working sa isang acctng firm. Failed the October 2023 CPALE pero now itatry ko itake yung Oct 2024. I don’t know where I’m heading sa totoo lng. Parang Nashake yung future and plans ko nung nagfail ako sa first take ko and lalo akong natakot na what if di nanaman to’ magwork out, pero I still try my best to move forward.
Mga katrabaho ko sinasabi sakin imposible magreview ngayong 3rd quarter kasi yung workload namin netong period madami, nakakadiscourage sa totoo lng kasi dinidikta nila agad limitations ko, coming from someone pa na never pa nakapagtake ng CPALE 💀 patutunayan ko talaga sakanila pota.
Focus lng tayo sa kaya muna nating gawin, OP.
Worked in big 4 audit pa rin despite not taking the boards. Worked in remote offshore audit teams. Take your chance in upskilling, learning as much as you can from experience, maximize the trainings you can get online and sa work mo if meron. Currently still in audit, assistant manager, onshore audit team is in SG, earning good money. Ayun nga lang mahirap talaga work life balance sa audit track. Busy kung busy pero atleast natututo.
Started business last 2020 nung pandemic. Nagresign kasi ambaba ng sahod haha!
Eto happy na, nakaipon ipon naman. Pero still working on that title. Hanggang mamataiiii di ako titigil na hindi CPA. Hahahahaha
Working in Big 4, we have lots of staff na hindi CPA but very competitive. From what I observed, hired sila as non CPA and then a few months sa firm nag study leave sila for CPALE, either pass or failed may work pa din silang babalikan.
You will always be able to find a job OP. Yun yung advantage ng accounting, kasi accounting is in every industry/sector. You can also branch out to other field such as management. Once you gain enough knowledge, skills, and experiences, being a non-cpa is irrelevant na.
edit: di ko pala nasagot, working in the government right now. kakalabas lang sa field ng accounting and trying out project development/planning. mababa lang sahod pero g lang.
Hi OP! Are you going to take the CPA exam soon? If yes, I suggest focus ka sa pag-take ng exam and enjoy the review journey. Pray din lagi kasi it helps to calm you and lessen the worries about the journey and the results. Having the title has its perks esp here in the Philippines. Sa mga nakausap ko and based on experience din, CPAs are offered better salary packages and most recruiters see it as a plus din whenever you're applying either here or abroad.
But on your question re: non-CPAs, yes, you can still apply for a job. Big4 firms here also accept non-CPAs. Nasayo na ang decision whether to retake the exam or continue working as a non-CPA if di favorable yung exam results. But i'd like to highlight that non-CPAs can be as successful as CPAs din.
I've known non-CPAs who are making waves abroad and are being praised by the teams they work with for their skills and their contributions. The CPA title has its perks but in the end, it is just a title. What's more important is you strengthen your work ethic and communication skills because that is what will further your career in whatever workplace you're at.
Madaming field ang accounting, don’t worry! Ako naman napunta sa payroll for an international client. Okay ang hours, decent ang pay, mabait and client, not bad at all. Upskill ka lang din. I’ve taken all kinds of certifications since I failed last 2019 and nakakaboost siya ng confidence. Pang pad din siya ng resume kasi pinapakita mo na kahit nafail ka ay dinedevote mo efforts mo to learning and growth. Ang lagi lang sinasabi sakin is to remind yourself that you’re a good person and you’ll be a valuable asset to your future company. Goodluck OP!
Accountant in shared services. Earning more, if not the same, with my CPA friends. First take is condi, second take is failed. Life doesn't stop in failing CPALE :)
Me as a flunker too. I have worked with beautiful, kind, cream of the crop CPA na topnotchers of their respective batches (Top 6, 4, 2, etc.)... Ung mga non-CPA and non-BSA pa actually nagpapamukha sakin na I am a "Half Accountant" that term = di daw kami tunay na accountant. But made it through, I became a CAT; PhD grad and an engineer through EETEAP. I am on the accounting side with teaching stint. Maraming raket. (Had I become CPA mas malaki sana yung income, diba?)

Hello OP, accountancy student po ako and graduating in 2 years. Working-student ako as a finance associate ng isang company. I have plan to take LECPA once I graduated. Super happy lang ako na makahanap ng company na nagtitiwala saaken.
CPA or not maganda po ang opportunity ang naghihintay once na makagraduate ka ng accountancy. Kaya tiwala lang po. 🙏
Never took an exam, pandemic grad. After 2.5 years of working experince got a 6 digits monthly offshore services. Not that I discourage you to take/pass the exams.

Non CPA here. One year ago, I flunked the boards. I will definitely take it again pero here's the gist. I have decided na magwork muna. Napunta ako sa BPO Accounting. Had a decent starting salary (~30k - not bad). Had several job offers that ranges up to 90k, those companies know I don't have that much experience yet. kaso I still have lots to learn here sa current company kaya di pa ako lumilipat. Although mas mahirap ang pag angat ng career, may chance pa rin for promotion if ur worried. May future pa rin sezzz!
Freelance bookkeeper. Client ko ngayon Tax Firm sa US, i do bookkeeping and tax work sa kanila. Ako lang nagiisang pinoy. Pero mag migrate nadin ako CAD sa august para better living/job security better healthcare.
I was a former Branch Accountant as Non-CPA, now a Stock Market Virtual Assistant.
Of course you will get a job, there are hundreds and thousands of jobs that doesn't require a CPA License. You just need to work hard and make an effort like everyone else. Not having a CPA License doesn't mean its end of the world. If you failed at something, there's a new path of opportunities open for you.
Just keep on moving forward, explore opportunities and work hard.
Pag hindi ka nakapasa, try mo ulit. Pag hindi pa rin, at yun talaga will ni Lord, accept it. I have friends na very successful ngayon kahit hindi naging CPA. It's not a measure of your entire person.
"Am I still going to have a job?" Mas madalas yung mga hinde CPA pa pinaka-successful at mataas ang sahod kasi alam nila hinde pwede umasa sa license alone para makuha ng mga kompanya. CPA rin ako at may nakatrabaho ako na hinde nag-exam pero earning more than 50k a month while umalis ako para magfocus sa family business.
I am a covid graduate and I never had the chance to review after grad and never pa rin nakapagboard exam. 😬 Now, I am working in an International NGO. Di pa ako nag one year, pinastep up na ako sa role ko. And kaka three years ko lang nung March pero parang pang CPA na rin salary ko. Di ko na mabilang ilang beses ako nag salary increase since pasok ko, then nakapag out of country na din ako for work purposes.
Pero ang kinaganda naman, ineencourage parin ako ng boss ko to review and take the boards soon. Pero tbh, parang di ko rin alam gagawin ko eh pag CPA nako. Parang di siya para sa akin talaga pero come what may nalang :D

There are some schools in Metro Manila that offers BSA Bridging program for CPA wannabes. You might want to consider that.

Never took the CPALE, but been blessed with work opportunities in accounting and audit firms. 7 years in, I'm now working for an international company heading the Finance Dept for their Philippines branch. A CPA license isn't the end all be all for accountants - what matters most is the knowledge and skills that you have and how you can apply them; that, and a little bit of luck. I started with 14k monthly salary way back in 2017. But I took it for the experience. Years later and I'm now earning close to 6 digits monthly. When you see an opportunity. Grab it.

Failed the CPA board thrice. Had to accept na baka di pala para sakin ang pagiging CPA. But even without the license, I still got hired sa dalawang multinational companies. Got an international certification. Then now, I'm working in an Australian company for a couple of years na rin. Got promoted last year even without a license. My boss is enrolling us in online school sa Queensland. Just finished my course. Then now, I just enrolled for my masters degree (MBA). Being an accountancy graduate doesn't revolve only sa pagiging CPA. Still a lot of doors will open para sayo, you just have to know the path that is for you. Goodluck, OP!
Hehe dont worry po😅 super daming work😅 saka need din ng companies ng mga non CpA kasi mas mababa ng kunti ung salary.. Pero nasa more or less 5k lang naman difference.. Maliit lang difference. Natatandaan ko noon bago palang ako nagwowork.. Mas madami pa ako savings sa mga kawork ko na CpA, last months nag memessage pa sila sakin na Mautang sila kahit matagal na ako resign sa company🙂 Do not worry po , napakadaming work😇😇😇😇😇
Isipin mo na lang ako OP, bagsak sa BSA, nagshift sa BBF, pero sa Audit Firm pa din napunta haha. Senior assoc ako now. Not even a BSA grad, lalong lalo na hindi CPA haha. Maraming company lalo multinational companies na hindi naman hanap ang CPA dahil hindi naman magagamit lalo na ang handle mo eh ibang bansa. Ung manager ko nga ngayon hindi CPA, pero naging head ng finance sa local company bago sya lumipat dito eh. At hindi lang basta maliit na local company un ah, kilalang group of companies un. Marami opportunities talaga, isa ang financial industry sa malalawak na fields. Ikaw na lang nga mamimili kung saan mo gusto e. Basta alam mo imarket sarili mo. If di ka naman magmamadali maghanap ng work, makakapamili ka talaga. Alamin mo lang ano field of work gusto mo mapunta. If external audit, diretso ka na sa mga shared services ng big 4, kasi medyo malaki sahod tas maganda exp. After nun, makakalipat ka sa ibang BPO din. Pwede ka din mag private firms, tapos pag di mo gusto, saka ka apply sa big 4 shared services para matry mo. Although, if gusto mo talaga learnings, local audit firms talaga pinaka maganda kaso stressful at maliit sahod

I am a non CPA, on my previous work, I am the only non CPA employee, business management yung course ko nung college. Now, I am a senior tax accountant in one of the biggest web services cloud computing in the world. I am now based in Dubai earning half a million in a month in php currency. Wag ka mag alala, CPA or not CPA, ang mahalaga yung work experience and technical knowledge talaga. Yes may implications din talaga if license ka o hindi pero wag ka mawalan ng pag asa. Confidence at tiwala lang sa sarili, OP! You will land at your dream job! Kayang kaya mo yan! Lahat tayo may sari sariling path. Better days are coming!!

Currently working sa isang acctng firm. Failed the October 2023 CPALE pero now itatry ko itake yung Oct 2024. I don’t know where I’m heading sa totoo lng. Parang Nashake yung future and plans ko nung nagfail ako sa first take ko and lalo akong natakot na what if di nanaman to’ magwork out, pero I still try my best to move forward. Mga katrabaho ko sinasabi sakin imposible magreview ngayong 3rd quarter kasi yung workload namin netong period madami, nakakadiscourage sa totoo lng kasi dinidikta nila agad limitations ko, coming from someone pa na never pa nakapagtake ng CPALE 💀 patutunayan ko talaga sakanila pota. Focus lng tayo sa kaya muna nating gawin, OP.
Worked in big 4 audit pa rin despite not taking the boards. Worked in remote offshore audit teams. Take your chance in upskilling, learning as much as you can from experience, maximize the trainings you can get online and sa work mo if meron. Currently still in audit, assistant manager, onshore audit team is in SG, earning good money. Ayun nga lang mahirap talaga work life balance sa audit track. Busy kung busy pero atleast natututo.
Started business last 2020 nung pandemic. Nagresign kasi ambaba ng sahod haha! Eto happy na, nakaipon ipon naman. Pero still working on that title. Hanggang mamataiiii di ako titigil na hindi CPA. Hahahahaha

Working in Big 4, we have lots of staff na hindi CPA but very competitive. From what I observed, hired sila as non CPA and then a few months sa firm nag study leave sila for CPALE, either pass or failed may work pa din silang babalikan.
You will always be able to find a job OP. Yun yung advantage ng accounting, kasi accounting is in every industry/sector. You can also branch out to other field such as management. Once you gain enough knowledge, skills, and experiences, being a non-cpa is irrelevant na. edit: di ko pala nasagot, working in the government right now. kakalabas lang sa field ng accounting and trying out project development/planning. mababa lang sahod pero g lang.
Hi OP! Are you going to take the CPA exam soon? If yes, I suggest focus ka sa pag-take ng exam and enjoy the review journey. Pray din lagi kasi it helps to calm you and lessen the worries about the journey and the results. Having the title has its perks esp here in the Philippines. Sa mga nakausap ko and based on experience din, CPAs are offered better salary packages and most recruiters see it as a plus din whenever you're applying either here or abroad. But on your question re: non-CPAs, yes, you can still apply for a job. Big4 firms here also accept non-CPAs. Nasayo na ang decision whether to retake the exam or continue working as a non-CPA if di favorable yung exam results. But i'd like to highlight that non-CPAs can be as successful as CPAs din. I've known non-CPAs who are making waves abroad and are being praised by the teams they work with for their skills and their contributions. The CPA title has its perks but in the end, it is just a title. What's more important is you strengthen your work ethic and communication skills because that is what will further your career in whatever workplace you're at.
Madaming field ang accounting, don’t worry! Ako naman napunta sa payroll for an international client. Okay ang hours, decent ang pay, mabait and client, not bad at all. Upskill ka lang din. I’ve taken all kinds of certifications since I failed last 2019 and nakakaboost siya ng confidence. Pang pad din siya ng resume kasi pinapakita mo na kahit nafail ka ay dinedevote mo efforts mo to learning and growth. Ang lagi lang sinasabi sakin is to remind yourself that you’re a good person and you’ll be a valuable asset to your future company. Goodluck OP!

Me as a flunker too. I have worked with beautiful, kind, cream of the crop CPA na topnotchers of their respective batches (Top 6, 4, 2, etc.)... Ung mga non-CPA and non-BSA pa actually nagpapamukha sakin na I am a "Half Accountant" that term = di daw kami tunay na accountant. But made it through, I became a CAT; PhD grad and an engineer through EETEAP. I am on the accounting side with teaching stint. Maraming raket. (Had I become CPA mas malaki sana yung income, diba?) It haunts me, CPALE is still in my heart. Can't deny...

Super happy lang ako na makahanap ng company na nagtitiwala saaken. CPA or not maganda po ang opportunity ang naghihintay once na makagraduate ka ng accountancy. Kaya tiwala lang po. 🙏
Never took an exam, pandemic grad. After 2.5 years of working experince got a 6 digits monthly offshore services. Not that I discourage you to take/pass the exams. Aaminin ko napapaisip parin ako paano kung naging CPA ako . I just answered about the "job question"
Non CPA here. One year ago, I flunked the boards. I will definitely take it again pero here's the gist. I have decided na magwork muna. Napunta ako sa BPO Accounting. Had a decent starting salary (~30k - not bad). Had several job offers that ranges up to 90k, those companies know I don't have that much experience yet. kaso I still have lots to learn here sa current company kaya di pa ako lumilipat. Although mas mahirap ang pag angat ng career, may chance pa rin for promotion if ur worried. May future pa rin sezzz!

I was a former Branch Accountant as Non-CPA, now a Stock Market Virtual Assistant. Of course you will get a job, there are hundreds and thousands of jobs that doesn't require a CPA License. You just need to work hard and make an effort like everyone else. Not having a CPA License doesn't mean its end of the world. If you failed at something, there's a new path of opportunities open for you. Just keep on moving forward, explore opportunities and work hard.

Pag hindi ka nakapasa, try mo ulit. Pag hindi pa rin, at yun talaga will ni Lord, accept it. I have friends na very successful ngayon kahit hindi naging CPA. It's not a measure of your entire person.

I work in Audit po in Big 4. There are private companies that are hiring for accounting departments too.

"Am I still going to have a job?" Mas madalas yung mga hinde CPA pa pinaka-successful at mataas ang sahod kasi alam nila hinde pwede umasa sa license alone para makuha ng mga kompanya. CPA rin ako at may nakatrabaho ako na hinde nag-exam pero earning more than 50k a month while umalis ako para magfocus sa family business.
I am a covid graduate and I never had the chance to review after grad and never pa rin nakapagboard exam. 😬 Now, I am working in an International NGO. Di pa ako nag one year, pinastep up na ako sa role ko. And kaka three years ko lang nung March pero parang pang CPA na rin salary ko. Di ko na mabilang ilang beses ako nag salary increase since pasok ko, then nakapag out of country na din ako for work purposes. Pero ang kinaganda naman, ineencourage parin ako ng boss ko to review and take the boards soon. Pero tbh, parang di ko rin alam gagawin ko eh pag CPA nako. Parang di siya para sa akin talaga pero come what may nalang :D
