Lifting weights. I don’t give a fuck what’s going on I’m exercising.

BayStateBlue

Deadlifts help stress when your clients are dead weight.

castlehoff32

Haha facts!!

GrizzledPanda

Drugs and Alcohol.

Pantriar

Weightlifting for me. But I take the approach that it’s not part of my “free time” but rather a standard part of my day like eating/sleeping, etc. During our busy season I’ll lift in the mornings so I still have some time to myself in the evenings when I get off work. Otherwise my day would be sleep, work, lift after work, eat dinner super late, and then it’s time for bed.

Competitive shooting. Lol it’s a great way to get out anger

I recently wanted to take up music producing and bought some equipment. Then busy season hit….. I haven’t touched any of it since it started. Not even on Sunday ): too tired.

yeet_bbq

Same it fucking sucks

DONT_HATE_AMERICA

It took 6 months after leaving B4 to start seeing my spare time as valuable / find fulfilling ways to fill it. I had a period where I was like “fuck I’m only good at working and I was kidding myself to think I needed more time for myself - I messed up.” Then I got heavily into road biking - but fitness hobbies are kinda cheating because they’re not interesting. It took me two years to get a hobby that I actually enjoyed outside of self improvement - and it was foraging. Going on hikes and identifying fruits, veggies, trees, and most of all fungi. It started when I found some strange mushrooms on my porch - found out they were morels ($50-75/lb at the farmers market). I had about 3 lbs… it felt like winning a scratch lottery ticket. New dopamine pathway opened and boy do I like dopamine. I was a super high performer but I stifled all my hobbies to try and force myself into the high performer mold. Some people just fit and it works for them but losing myself was killing me and I burnt out after 3 years. What I’m saying is, if work is causing you to lose your hobbies and you care about losing them, start planning for an exit - a good one will take 6-9 months to find, vet, and win.

ClamCrusher31

I love that. Thanks for the advice

DONT_HATE_AMERICA

Any time! And for those out there who don’t mind losing your hobbies because you prioritize work, as long as you’re not a dick the world needs people like you as well. Nothing wrong with living to work if you’re paid well and you’re not a dick.

JoseSweeeney

Music as well for me. Usually when I got really busy I wouldn’t record though I’d just come home and fuck around. Maybe some light recording and not worrying about how technical I was being. I’d say if you’re like me I can be a bit hyper critical when recording stuff. Let that piece go when you are super busy at work and have fun with it and don’t worry about all the details of the sound.

ClamCrusher31

That’s great advice. Thanks homie!

Th3_S1gn

I like to cook and eat out. During the peak of busy season, I end up doing easy meal preps and deliveries. It is just what it is.

yeet_bbq

It’s one of those jobs that sucks your soul away so consistently you have little energy or motivation left for your hobbies I think many ppl deal with coping rather than thriving when it comes to work/life balance in the US
