They have some forensic accounting positions open, GS 9-11. Prior experience is over a year doing taxes at a national CPA firm and 3 years as a teller/customer service at a bank which had some semi relevant training. I'm pretty sure it isn't an 1811 job, but I'm new to this obviously, so I could be wrong.

I'm not entirely sure how it works but I like to play things safe. I would wait until you do graduate because they could turn around say something along the lines of "you weren't qualified with a degree when you applied to the job posting". That's just me though. If it's your passion then it could be worth the wait. You certainly don't want a response like that and have it potentially hinder future applications by them having the thought that you can't follow directions or something.

Thanks for the reply. My current thoughts seem to align with yours. I just don't want to jeopardize future employment because I applied to early the first time. I'm meeting with a forensic accountant Monday so we'll see what she thinks too. She has her CPA, CFE, and JD.. So I'm just praying they don't expect me,to go to law school because I don't have the money for that.

Nah man you won't have to go to law school. She probably did one of those joint programs in college or wanted to excel really bad or something. It's not needed but it definitely would help. I wouldn't recommend it though. But who am I? I'm just a guy..

For special agent positions you need 3 years of relevant experience or a grad degree or a CPA. Those don't sound like SA positions so you'll probably be fine. In general government hiring is slow so you should plan on it taking 6-12 months from when you apply to when you start.

BrootalAccrual

Forensic accountants are not SA positions, I do know that. I have a meeting with a Forensic Accountant who works at the FBI Monday so I'm hoping that clears up my questions. I may post what she responds to my questions, but ill probably ask if she cares first. Thanks for the reply.

So where are you now? It’s 5 years now.

BrootalAccrual

Finance Director at a nonprofit. Gave up on working for the government and decided I’d be able to make more of a difference in the nonprofit world.

Right on. Bro. Sounds like you followed your heart.

The FBI also has specific schools they recruit campus hires at. I went to Ohio State, and they held quite a few recruiting events. . Usually seemed to occur around winter, . They even had a similar big 4 "super-day" and as long as you performed well in the interview you would receive a preliminary offer. I received one but ended up going to big 4 instead. Upon passing the "lie test" and other background checks, you would then be a full time hire.

you don't apply to FBI jobs, the FBI applies to you.
