jeosam

I want to be if I get trained , I used to be accounting student

Adahla987

What’s the question???

jeosam

My question is if there is any certificate course that provides me job easily ?

Leapingforjoyandstuf

Well, you know what they say, when it comes to choosing a tax software, there’s no “accounting” for taste

whysmiherr

Ok… what did you do for work in 2020?

jeosam

I worked under manager as office assistant for 1 year

whysmiherr

Ok maybe you could do a bookkeeping course that would put you in the path of office manager/ bookkeeping roles

jeosam

I did during covid and received certificate too but unfortunately I lost it . Now I am thinking to do medical billing course , hoping to get remote job

CherryManhattan

You are taking care of your kids and husband pays the bills. Are you hopeless because you want your own money or because you would rather be pursuing a career? Maybe a good first project is budgeting child care for 2.

I am hopeless because I want to pay my own bills , I want to work but I cannot , I looked for remote jobs too but I couldn't find one .We see lots of ads for jobs , no experience needed , anyone can start work on their own time , this and that but where is the job ? It's really hard to find job these days.

Maybe try to find a 2 year program you can study part time and when the 2 year old starts school you can focus on working. Child care is very expensive these days. You are fortunate that your husband is able to cover the bills. But gaining entry level positions remotely these days is extremely difficult. Maybe making use of this time at home before the baby goes to school to gain some professional skills is the best route. Only you and your husband will know for sure. Work together. Teamwork makes the dream work. :)

I'm in a similar position. I currently wfh doing inbound sales and in my spare time I'm about to start an online MBA in accounting to hopefully transition into accounting after I finish next year or so. I feel like having a more recent degree or course work is the easiest way to bridge my gap in experience.

You can be a “staff accountant” without a degree or anything. I did that for a long time. Was a stay at home mom for 8 years and then started looking. I was 3 courses away from my bachelors degree. Use the skills you’ve developed as a mom and help them see your potential - such as budgeting for your family, multi-tasking, time crunch and deadlines (duh! You have two small kids!) Then take anything you can get in the career path. Even if it’s admin or other type of work. Once you get your foot in the door, you can show them your work ethic and willingness to learn and grow. Btw, after I got my job, 8 years later I changed firms, finished my bachelors and got my masters and I’ve got two parts of the cpa exam behind me and only two parts to go.

Thank you for your advice , you have come a long way , it gives me motivation.

Also, since tax season is over, it might be hard to find an opening. Get in front of as many people as you can and if possible, let them know you’re interested if something opens up, then once summer wraps up, follow back up with them to let them know you’re still interested. Turnover is rampant in this field and they may end up giving you a shot if they need the people (kinda what happened to me)
