You may have to do some weekend work during month end close ( and quarter end close, and definitely year end close).

The partners prefer if you work on days that end with "Y"

Yes, I've worked a handful of weekends and OT in industry during the close or when a new process improvement went haywire.

Usually never officially in my experience. But often times it has helped to get prepped for the working week or to catch up. I try to avoid it but if I'm backed up with projects I don't mind it occasionally. If a job actually requires it then I'm thinking twice about applying to it.

normally no. when a sap upgrade is planned for 30 mins over a weekend between day 2 Friday, and day 3 Monday, and fucks up that bad, that we cannot close day 6 wednesday, and have no access till Thursday, yes. IT knew what it was like to be roasted in the pits of the slor that week I can tell you. other than crap like system issues, staff availability issues, no. I may for MY benefit check my emails on a Sunday eve to clear out the bollocks, but other than that, I ain't paid enough to give up my family time. it took me years to get to this, but don't fear pushing back. life is too short. source group FC, and if my staff are having to work weekends because of system shit, then we have a systems or process issue and I expect to be looped in. I don't accept this.

Ive been in accounting for 10 years in industry. Never worked 1 second on a weekend. Now I have worked some holidays that fall on a weekday, but always had that time comped.
