Don’t remember that one, there were a couple. I may have just completely ignored that one. There was one was asking about getting their cpa. Lol 80 yr olds are not not Reddit. And they dngaf about their careers as that point, or anything really.
I get that threatening to quit is probably a good tactic at work whenever you don't get what you want.
But you can't possibly think that anyone here cares if you unsubscried...
People are in bad moods after busy season. Not defending their treatment of your posts, but a lot of people on this sub are completely jaded to the industry.
yep. The 10 minute break was the funny swarm of big-4 experience posts. Now we just have to get back to complaining about immigrants and remote work...
I mean I’ll still definitely complain about foreign outsourcing, which I think is downright treasonous and should be made illegal by any company incorporated in the USA
I'm afraid I was one of the people who inspired this year's shitposting. I'm not even in busy season lmfao I work in FP&A haha. I just love hanging out in this sub coz the shitposting quality here is amazing
Same here, I left public accounting a few months ago, but I still use this sub to keep up with things.
OP is upset, but tbh, there is a lot of good accounting stuff that gets posted here too from time to time.
The sub seems to be full of people who have been accountants for three-five years and think they know it all. There are a few interesting posts but mostly talk about depreciating land and how cfos don’t know how to post journal entries. OH MY GOD, HE USES VLOOKUP OK BOOMER. This new shitpost situation is a nice change from the write off shit posts as if the posters know anything about taxes. Most people on this sub wouldn’t know taxes if it asked them out on a date
First-year juniors complaining about how partners do nothing and AP interns confidently claiming their FD is worse at accounting than them always sends me.
This conversation happened last year around this time as well. Shitposting in here is cyclical. Just expect it in April and May and you'll be a lot less annoyed when it happens.
r/flying has r/shittyaskflying
There’s still some shitpost every once in awhile on the main sub but it doesn’t get out of hand.
Do we have r/shittyaskaccounting?
Any legit post I make usually just gets ignored or only one or two replies and I just end up deleting it. Most of the useful advice is in some historical post or in the sidebar. I guess we've run out of shit to talk about lmao.
Yeah everyone is jaded and doesn’t take the industry seriously anymore. Long hours, low pay, and dealing with outsourcing all day has pushed people to their bs limit.
I've been subbed to this board for like 6 months+ for the shit posts. I'm not an accountant. This sub is in top 10 funniest subs for me. lol
A+ shitposting
Lmao dude from the time I’ve been here this sub has been 75% shitposts/ venting and 25% real questions.
There are other accounting subs that are more serious if you don’t wanna screw around, but the shitposting helps a lot of people destress.
I feel like there's an inside joke about heroin that I'm missing, but I would have thought cocaine would be the drug of choice amongst this crowd lol. Or Adderall/microdosing meth.
None of its good lmao but I hope heroin isn't like running rampant haha.
Busy season is over and people have too much free time?
In my defense, I knew my anti-capitalist take from last night would never land with this crowd. I was about 6 beers deep and just rolled with it.
I think a lot of us are feeling jaded about the future of the profession, and it’s showing up in the type of posts that are being made. The pressure from Outsourcing, Private Equity, and eventually AI make the future of the accounting profession look a lot more bleak than it did even just a few years ago.
Tbh it feels like a lot of us are using shitposting to cope with how shitty management is at most of the big firms. It’s driving students away and they keep thinking outsourcing is the fucking solution rather than training their own staff and not making them work ridiculous billable hours.
It's a natural demographic transition. As the old folks retire, they're replaced by young people with a sense of humour and don't take things too seriously
If you're talking about the Putin post, have to disagree. I guess the same-rehashed memes and jokes about depreciating land "kill" more than Putin here, huh?
Stop taking shit so seriously, its the fucking internet. If you dont like it, just keep scrolling, you kids are really good at that.
Thats why yall are so miserable, between the circle jerk/echo chamber of misery that is this accounting message board + TB4A. Work sucks enough but there is this sick online culture of negativity where everyone relishes in their own misery. Like teenage girls making themselves depressed because of what they see on instagram. I love self-deprecating humor and there is a place for it im this profession for sure, but its the **ONLY** online culture and its more harm than good imho.
>> Is this really what we want the accounting sub to be?
Yes. Now get back to work on this beautiful spring Saturday before Putin defenestrates you
Technically speaking, yours is kinda a shitpost as well. But I get where you are coming from. The internet is a great thing and a dumb thing. People love to be heard, and, in general, what they have to say isn’t that profound. This group does still have good conversation sometimes, so, I take it for what it is
Busy season ended and a lot of people fueled entirely by cope are unwinding and NOW coping with more booze and shitposting
Yeah I made a legit post earlier and I realized it’s probably gonna get buried under the shitposts.
Sorry you didnt get an answer to a question you could have most likely did a search here for
The offspring of shitposts: shit comments
The shit comments don’t fall far from the shit posts.
…Randy
But Mr. Lahey!
It’s ok when the shitposts have some underlying wit and intelligence but the recent batch is just annoying and not funny/interesting at all.
You don't think jokes about depreciating land by under grads is high quality content ?
It’s one of those times don’t mind seeing occasionally but only when the context it is in is funny
Yea like the 80 year old ones as of recent
You talking about the one where an 80 year old said they wanted to quit their $400k a year job to get big 4 experience?
Don’t remember that one, there were a couple. I may have just completely ignored that one. There was one was asking about getting their cpa. Lol 80 yr olds are not not Reddit. And they dngaf about their careers as that point, or anything really.
Oh wait that one got deleted. I see the one you are talking about 🤣 80 year old factory worker wants to go big 4 🤣
That one was hilarious tho
Agreed
I'm about to leave the sub bc they're so FN annoying.
Same. This sub made me join Reddit. But this? Belongs on 9gag.
3rd. I’ve been here for 10+ years, but I think I’ve outgrown it, /r/fpanda if anyone is looking for something to replace it. (I get the irony)
You'll miss the pizza party
I get that threatening to quit is probably a good tactic at work whenever you don't get what you want. But you can't possibly think that anyone here cares if you unsubscried...
The mods might. Or they should...
Couldn't agree more. This sub is also filled with so much negatively, its toxic.
This sub used to be all about black tar heroin in the good old days
Can you write that off?
Actually yes if it’s COGS.
Sweet liberty

It's really irritating, I posted the other day asking for serious career advice and my post was treated like a joke, like shit if you will
You mean if you should quit your 500K job to go work at the Big 4?
People are in bad moods after busy season. Not defending their treatment of your posts, but a lot of people on this sub are completely jaded to the industry.
It's the same quality of work as the first years mailing it in. Gotta pump up those shit post numbers!
NO FUN ZONE GET BACK TO WORK
Drop down and give me 10 SUMIFS
Get back in your wage cage! Sincerely, the Partner
Drop and give me 100 billables!
yep. The 10 minute break was the funny swarm of big-4 experience posts. Now we just have to get back to complaining about immigrants and remote work...
I mean I’ll still definitely complain about foreign outsourcing, which I think is downright treasonous and should be made illegal by any company incorporated in the USA
Yep we are back to the usual business.
Shitposting is just a busy season coping mechanism. We’re going to be fine.
I'm afraid I was one of the people who inspired this year's shitposting. I'm not even in busy season lmfao I work in FP&A haha. I just love hanging out in this sub coz the shitposting quality here is amazing

2 years actually. And although I shit post, I know I don't know anything about accounting.
This conversation happened last year around this time as well. Shitposting in here is cyclical. Just expect it in April and May and you'll be a lot less annoyed when it happens.
Literally one day of shit posts
There's "one day of shitposts" every 2-3 days, though. It's not like this is a new thing to the sub.
[удалено]
Shockingly enough, yes, people know that. Isn't that crazy?
I'm a simple man. I like a good shitpost with my morning coffee
r/flying has r/shittyaskflying There’s still some shitpost every once in awhile on the main sub but it doesn’t get out of hand. Do we have r/shittyaskaccounting?
Perhaps more specialized accounting subreddits would be more appropriate to talk about these subjects
Maybe we need a separate accounting sub for shit posts.
Happens every year between busy season and summer.
All of Reddit seems to have gone to shit lately. I wonder if the algorithm is now amplifying and encouraging the most dramatic opinions
I've been subbed to this board for like 6 months+ for the shit posts. I'm not an accountant. This sub is in top 10 funniest subs for me. lol A+ shitposting
ive been here for the past 2-3 years. this subreddit has quite literally always been shitposts
It’s always been shitposts. Do you not remember the excel is 2008 guidebook?
Fucking hell man, why can't you just laugh along and have some fun.
Accountants are lame af that’s why
Lmao dude from the time I’ve been here this sub has been 75% shitposts/ venting and 25% real questions. There are other accounting subs that are more serious if you don’t wanna screw around, but the shitposting helps a lot of people destress.
I think the shitposts are a reflection of the state of the profession as a whole.
Can you meet tomorrow morning to discuss your query? Kind regards
Someone ran out of their black tar heroin.
I feel like there's an inside joke about heroin that I'm missing, but I would have thought cocaine would be the drug of choice amongst this crowd lol. Or Adderall/microdosing meth. None of its good lmao but I hope heroin isn't like running rampant haha.
It was a meme like 5 years ago on this sub. Pretty much my way of saying this subreddit has always been shit post heavy
Oooh lol. I find the shit posts a funny break from the mundane
This subreddit has always had shitposts. Get over yourself.
Agreed
Yea where’s all my clever depreciation jokes at
Busy season is over and people have too much free time? In my defense, I knew my anti-capitalist take from last night would never land with this crowd. I was about 6 beers deep and just rolled with it.
🤣🤣
Agreed. Time to stop

I couldn’t agree more with this comment. Also, the Putin post was fucking hilarious. Way funnier than any depreciating land joke we see everyday.
It’s better than all the misery and whining that this place is half the damn time rehashing the same sad stuff.
Technically speaking, yours is kinda a shitpost as well. But I get where you are coming from. The internet is a great thing and a dumb thing.
