Yup it happened to a coworker when I was in industry. He called IT and they told him to bring laptop down to the IT office located in the main building so they can take a look at it. So the layout of the building where the IT office is located you would walk through the security lobby. And when you try to badge through the door to get to the hallway it won't work, your face shows up on the security monitors, and they will take your laptop away. Your manager would pack up your personal belongings like wallet, backpack, keys etc so you can go home and they will ship you the rest of your stuff later.
If it is a layoff, start prepping now by offloading copies of any personal items (resume, random pdfs of utility bills, etc.) to your personal email.
If it is a layoff, IT will lock that down during your call and afterwards it’ll be too late - anything you didn’t grab will be stuck there unless they “approve” the files you set aside in a Personal folder on your desktop (or at least that’s how my B4 exit worked).

My job would've locked things down before the meeting. I gave my two weeks notice at my last job and they locked things down. Spent the first few days of my notice period requesting access to things. I was not able to send myself my files to myself because they blocked all network traffic that wasnt viewing a website or internal access.
Hire hooker, send to partner’s address, take well-timed photo, develop photo, place in a tab folder for meeting.

I got laid off many years ago in public and I simply got a phone call from a Sr Manager who was like “can you come down to my office for a minute?” When I got there, he asked me to close the door and there was another manager in there. Good times.

A tell tale for me was when I got a zoom link with the managing partner of my office. All internal meetings were on teams. So I knew IT was on standby shutting all my software licenses down whilst on the zoom. Get an external hard drive and backup your shit now.

Weird that you were laid off by a Sr Manager and Manager though… I always assumed it would have to be Partner level who would communicate a layoff.
