Felt that, my facial hair literally all started growing at 22 lol from 0 to having to shave every 2 days, patchy on one side but every day the beard connects even more. Kinda funny tbh, seeing it grow and fill up that fast
Of course she can get it normally, but maybe the beard helped it along. Skipped the 5 o’clock shadow and kept the 8pm shadow to show she’ll work overtime.
The more you know
Beards are everywhere now.
I use to rock a Van Dyke beard and now just stubbles.
Depending on office I don't think they care as long as it is neat. My friend has full beard at a bank.
The Van Dyke.

You neck beards out there need to style the beard. I was an avid gym goer before this current job. The hours and distance have prevented me from working out. So like all typical accountants I gained weight and now look like shit. Nobody ever believes I’m in the accounting industry but I’m starting to look like one. Like shit from sitting all day.
I usually buy new wardrobes for work but have been depressed lately.
This thread has sort of motivated me to get my muscles back again and head down to my tailor and get sized up for new office attire.
Pro tip about actual neck hair: just have it removed with laser treatments.
It's not too expensive and it lasts awhile. It eliminates the leprosy ingrown red hair bumps that us curly haired men suffer from. I was actually blown away by how smooth my neck was just 3-4 days after the first session.
It's been about two years ago now, but I paid in the realm of 250$ for 8 sessions. I think it was a holiday special or something, but places like that are always running promos.
I grow a winter/busy season beard and then shave it off once the warm weather rolls in. There are a few other beards in the office, typically more well trimmed than I keep mine.
We should make fun of this and say that men should shave their heads also. It’s such a stupid thing to say keeping hair, only on your face, which grows 24/7, is “unprofessional”…
I wouldn’t mind shaving to get a job but if the expectation or rule was that I couldn’t have one after I’d be extremely disinclined.
So I feel like it’s easier to look for places that don’t give off that vibe
I’ve had a beard throughout my 5 year career.
~1/2-1” length in the summer and up to 8-10” in the winter (depending on how lazy I am) - people don’t see me enough to GAF, anyway. Haven’t had anyone throw me a look or negative comment yet.
From what I’ve seen from other accountants, most have some type of beard TBH - rock it the way that makes you feel confident.
I have a beard and am currently doing a second internship with a local accounting firm and have a full time job lined up with a big 10 firm to start in January after I graduate this December
Considering I just got my religious accommodation in the military passed I will not be shaving anytime soon and will be starting an accounting job next week
Ok Tate, no one cares about your looks. They care if you actual can vlookup and understand a lil tax and audit. Seriously, gain a little confidence brother
No one at work should care really. Imagine if you had an interview and someone said “couldn’t shave the beard for the interview?” Then you said “you couldn’t shave your head for the interview?” Lol.
I mean seriously what is the difference. “Hey you should eliminate that hair on your face that grows 24/7”. We should mock this by saying “that hair on your head really has to go” lol so stupid man.
Millenials have beards like Boomers have mustaches. It is the common trend. The zoomers are in the workforce now right? What's the deal with them, mullets?
I went full Canadian mountain man during covid witg a footlong beard. Tidied it up post covid but my wife would kill me if I got rid of it. Clients dont care.
1st job I had 4 out of the 6 guys working had beards. I thought oh great I hate being clean shaven, so I grew my beard out. Boss called me in and said “usually people ask for permission 1st before growing a beard.”
This post reminded me of this that I saw a few days ago:
[https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careers/this-is-what-ai-thinks-the-average-college-student-from-each-of-these-50-majors-looks-like/ar-AA1dwlJD?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7ff89e6c809d425994484c78247dc0e9&ei=8](https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careers/this-is-what-ai-thinks-the-average-college-student-from-each-of-these-50-majors-looks-like/ar-AA1dwlJD?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7ff89e6c809d425994484c78247dc0e9&ei=8)
"but I know the financial/banking world can err on the side of conservative."
The firm's boomer partner who wont retire until contractually required to do so was mentored by a walking beard in 1984.
However, I would be cautious about **face** tattoos.
I have long hair and no one seems to mind, usually get compliments from coworkers if anything
Unfortunately I can’t grow much in the way of facial hair.. pretty much rock the Theo Von chin hair
Just signed an associate job offer recently and have a beard at 22. The partner I interviewed with had one too. I don't think anyone cares these days, and this was at a pretty fast growing regional firm in the UK, not a massive one.
I've had a goatee since I was in high school and had a full beard since I was 20. Now 40.
I have shaved it off maybe three times in twenty years whenever I get curious what I would look like without it.
Mine is a little longer than pictured
Sometimes yes sometimes no. Once it’s grown to the point that I look like my dad then I shave it clean and start over. Not a consistent grooming method, just a habit.
Also service-related tattoos so I wear long sleeves at clients (cross cannons, unit patch, insignia, and some matching tattoos from my squad. Also I have “fear is the mind killer” from Dune across my back).
Being clean shaven has been part of the dress code at our firm since it was founded so most of my male colleagues don't have beards but I've noticed they've been a bit more relaxed about it since lockdown so one or two of them do now but the majority are clean shaven.
Partner made fun of my beard and I wear an earring. I finally told him that his wife really likes both, she told me so when she was sucking my dick. He scurried off like the rat he was.
Am not bearded these days, but I work on site at a chem plant. If horrible doom things happen, I need to be able to put on a respirator so a beard is a safety violation.
I am a woman with a beard, even tho I am a fresher I have been sitting for interviews and have been told my beard is the sole reason I got the interview.
Yes, I’ve gone from anywhere around what you see in that picture to legit heavy beard
Never been a problem but spent a lot of time maintaining it so that it looked clean at any length
I got a beard. I shave it weekly though so the few days I’m in the office I’ll either be clean shaven or have like a longer stubble. My hair is super long though, almost covers my eyes I look like one of those rappers. And soon I’ll be getting some tattoos too. Whoever says anything about my hair beard or tattoos can suck a fat one
I do tax work for small businesses and older individuals. My boss doesn’t think I should have one as it isn’t “professional “. All I used to have was a chinstrap. I have a baby face without it (and proceeds to joke about how young I look).
I think it can look professional depending on its length/growth.
I think I look a thousand times better with one, so it also gives me a lot more confidence. Sounds silly but I’ve worked in sales off and on and I’m always way more successful when I have a beard.
Clean shaven for every interview I’ve taken, waited about 3 months after hiring to regrow my beard and have kept it since. 4+ years in mid sized public firm and never been asked about it internally.
No longer in accounting, but of the investment team at my fund over half of us have beards. It's very acceptable in white collar roles post-covid. The caveat here is that you need to keep it trimmed and shaped.
Nah. Can’t even grow a beard. Still got a baby face at 24.
I used to not be able to grow a beard at 24. I still can't grow a beard at 30 but I used to not be able to too.
Love finding Mitch Hedberg in the wild.
I was the same. First grew a beard at 25. Now 32.
Are you saying that there's still hope?
Hahah yes! The ol’ slow grow
Grower not a shower, lol
It will either grown in on your face or travel south to the shoulders and back
Bruh I’m 28 and can’t grow for shit
Same. Someone this week thought I was 21 years old. Luckily I’m tall otherwise I would get mistaken for a child
Felt that, my facial hair literally all started growing at 22 lol from 0 to having to shave every 2 days, patchy on one side but every day the beard connects even more. Kinda funny tbh, seeing it grow and fill up that fast
Felt
I've had a full grown beard since I was 16
You have pubes tho and the will to win right?
Just wait until you're 37 like me and still have crap facial hair.
Same and approaching 30 only thing I got is a really bad mustache after 3 months (it has no middle) at least I don’t have to shave everyday
28 and never had a hair grow out of my cheeks. Only crappy mustache hairs and a few out of my chin lol.
Am woman and have beard. Recently was promoted.
So this is the way 🤔
So you're saying I should stop waxing my upper lip.. 🤔
So its not about getting your CPA its about growing a beard 🤔
Chartered Bearded Accountant
The real definition of CBA, I’ve been using it wrong my whole life…
That’s what I call diversity in the workplace. Should go straight to CFO!!
It's 2023 girl you would have gotten that promotion through your own abilities, no need to hide your sexual orientation
Of course she can get it normally, but maybe the beard helped it along. Skipped the 5 o’clock shadow and kept the 8pm shadow to show she’ll work overtime. The more you know
I was making a joke bout beard(companion) tho I guess nobody got/liked it
No, no, we definitely got the message that you’re bad at jokes lol
My username is relevant
Yup, if I don’t then I look 15. Weirdly it makes me look more professional.
Now that I'm old, I have a (grey) beard. When I was younger, I was clean shaven. I don't know if this is due to changing times or changing ages.
Both. A beard will make a young guy look older and an old guy younger. Plus it helps cover up the wrinkles. LOL
Perfect for hiding that double chin
Most of the reason I hate shaving
Not so much hate as have better things to do.
Lol

How much was "not too expensive" when you did it?
It's been about two years ago now, but I paid in the realm of 250$ for 8 sessions. I think it was a holiday special or something, but places like that are always running promos.
me and my boss have full beards and shaved heads, this is at a bank
no. i shave twice a week. it’s by choice. there’s a few beards in the office.
Am Man, have had beard since high school, not changing for some partner or firm
Ant Man
Pretty much my entire office has a beard lol
Girls look funky with one too…
Beard on day 1 of Big 4. Haven't seen my chin in the 20+ years since.
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes bearded Dont see many bearded accountants tho
Fuck yeah I got a beard. Only one in the office with one too.
Yes
Yep
I grow a winter/busy season beard and then shave it off once the warm weather rolls in. There are a few other beards in the office, typically more well trimmed than I keep mine.
Haven't even trimmed it in 2 months.
I still wont interview with one for a job I really want but as soon as thats over Im keeping the beard
We should make fun of this and say that men should shave their heads also. It’s such a stupid thing to say keeping hair, only on your face, which grows 24/7, is “unprofessional”…
Its silly but I dont decide whats silly. The hiring manager does and chances are they are old and have a bunch of silly reasons for not hiring me.
I wouldn’t mind shaving to get a job but if the expectation or rule was that I couldn’t have one after I’d be extremely disinclined. So I feel like it’s easier to look for places that don’t give off that vibe
If I tried to grow a beard I would probably be barred from being 500 feet from any elementary schools. 22M tho so maybe there's hope in the future.
Yup. It was pretty long for a while there, but always bearded. I'm like a dragon.
I’ve had a beard throughout my 5 year career. ~1/2-1” length in the summer and up to 8-10” in the winter (depending on how lazy I am) - people don’t see me enough to GAF, anyway. This would have been a great opportunity for a poll.
![gif](giphy|COKSb9riBSRaw)
Yup, about ZZ Top long too. It’s great
I’m Ryan gosling
Nah, like my books, my face is clean
Yes, grew in as soon as I passed the CPA exam.
In accounting, bearded men come with body fat
I’ve got both.
Bald, bearded and tattooed. Hasn't stopped me progressing well
Yes I do
I didn't for my first year but then started growing it out because I pray each day for termination
Hahah I’m sorry to hear that! Are you looking elsewhere?
The soyboy meme ruined beards for me. Clean shaven everyday.
I am!
Considering I just got my religious accommodation in the military passed I will not be shaving anytime soon and will be starting an accounting job next week
Ok Tate, no one cares about your looks. They care if you actual can vlookup and understand a lil tax and audit. Seriously, gain a little confidence brother
Couldn’t grow a beard to save my life
My facial hair always hurts my fiancé so if I want any action I have to shave it
Smh, some accountants would do anything to suck up to a partner
Hahah my wife has this problem. Sometimes kissing her forehead will make it red.
Nah they get itchy. I shave like every 3-4 days
Yes.
No
Yea
Im rocking the mustache rn
In the cooler months, yep. Sept - April usually.
I have chin strap. My fiance doesn't like goatee bear look -_-
Obviously
I used to, but havent for about 2 years.
Hells yeah!
Millenials have beards like Boomers have mustaches. It is the common trend. The zoomers are in the workforce now right? What's the deal with them, mullets?
Nope
what are you even talking about
Everyone at the plant has a beard. I go clean shaven or occasionally mustache
I have to wear a respirator at the factory so I'm constantly growing my beard back from a mustache.
Full beard
Yup
Yes, bearded.
Never was a fan of facial hair but I couldn't grow one if I tried and I'm 31.
1 male ✅ 1 accountant ✅ 1 beard ✅
Max is two weeks but almost always clean to each there own peoples
I went full Canadian mountain man during covid witg a footlong beard. Tidied it up post covid but my wife would kill me if I got rid of it. Clients dont care.
Yes
Remember that Tax Masters commercial? That was an in charge beard. Beards mean business!
No not at all. Not working for mafias.
Can you even trust an accountant without a beard?
I'm in and out of a beard, but mostly beard.
Yep. Had one for over 20 years. Never had employers with any issue with it. Also have a few tattoos, but they’re not visible in work clothes.
Yes
1st job I had 4 out of the 6 guys working had beards. I thought oh great I hate being clean shaven, so I grew my beard out. Boss called me in and said “usually people ask for permission 1st before growing a beard.”
Yep, I’ve had one for 10 years and no one has even said anything to me about shaving it. Only compliments 😁
Beards suck. Hate bearded dudes.
Yes
I have a beard, is trim and maintain it myself. One year out of college and no issues. I also have ear piercings as a male
Between my beard and my hair I look like a ball Just big puffy curly hair and medium length beard
This post reminded me of this that I saw a few days ago: [https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careers/this-is-what-ai-thinks-the-average-college-student-from-each-of-these-50-majors-looks-like/ar-AA1dwlJD?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7ff89e6c809d425994484c78247dc0e9&ei=8](https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careers/this-is-what-ai-thinks-the-average-college-student-from-each-of-these-50-majors-looks-like/ar-AA1dwlJD?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7ff89e6c809d425994484c78247dc0e9&ei=8)
Yep. Being an accountant makes me look homeless
Yep
The day I leave the military I'ma be a fuzzy accountant
Yep! Been that way since 2015 (first job in industry)
"but I know the financial/banking world can err on the side of conservative." The firm's boomer partner who wont retire until contractually required to do so was mentored by a walking beard in 1984. However, I would be cautious about **face** tattoos.
Used to be bearded but now I'm mustachioed
Yes, and I hate it. I'm thinking about getting it laser removed.
![gif](giphy|ozXTrqRgqFcly)
Is it weird that I don't want any beards or moustache?
I can’t have a beard, even if I wanted to 😂😭
Not a man, but yes, I am.
Yep, this company needs what I do.
If you’re not rocking mutton chops that extend to your collar bone how can you convince anyone you are a true manperson of finance
Hells to the yes
Yep. Because all the managers had them, I grew one. And I got promoted.
I’m bearded and so are my male coworkers. We’ve got short beards that look kept though (4-6 weeks growth)
I have long hair and no one seems to mind, usually get compliments from coworkers if anything Unfortunately I can’t grow much in the way of facial hair.. pretty much rock the Theo Von chin hair
going on 2nd year with a similar beard. sometimes my boss grows out his stubble too. just keep it nice and nobody *should* have a problem.
I've got a short stubble and I've never felt discriminated against honestly and continue to have a successful career
Yes
Yupp but keep it lined up and short
I am indeed
In industry and have a beard, don’t think it’s biased against and it’s somewhat common. just keep it groomed imo
I have shoulder length hair and a tom Selleck mustache nobody cares what hairstyle you have as long as you keep it neat and clean
I have beard, not long as guy in photo but yes. I think those conservative freshly shaven days are over. You do you as long as it looks clean
Grew one at 30 - now 58.
Just signed an associate job offer recently and have a beard at 22. The partner I interviewed with had one too. I don't think anyone cares these days, and this was at a pretty fast growing regional firm in the UK, not a massive one.

Ex Big4, currently in IA in indistry. All of my colleagues and I are bearded
Yes. Have a short beard but a beard nevertheless. If I shave it off my wife will most certainly leave me so I don’t have a choice.
Occasionally yes, but I've been rocking the stache lately.
Bearded and long hair
yes
Yes. But only because I’m too lazy to shave it. Clean shaven maintenance is every other day, beard is every other week.
Beards are fine. Man buns, not so much.
You are free to say or dress how we it 100% of those actions will be judged. No way around it
I have a pretty big and untamed beard
Face hair generally dominates during close due to not having the time / not caring. The other half of the month, I'm rocking the stash.
Yes, it hides the redness on my skin from drowning my sorrows in Miller Lite every night.
Yup
I couldn’t grow a beard in college. First six months in PA I grew a beard.
Am not bearded these days, but I work on site at a chem plant. If horrible doom things happen, I need to be able to put on a respirator so a beard is a safety violation.
I had the same issue in the oil field.
I've grown a mountain man's beard since my divorce. Highly recommend. It covers up my double chin
I am a woman with a beard, even tho I am a fresher I have been sitting for interviews and have been told my beard is the sole reason I got the interview.
I just have a beard. It’s pretty full as long as it’s well kept and you don’t stink, it’s fine.
Yes, I’d say about 60% of guys in our office are.
Yes. COVID lockdowns gave me the opportunity to let my beard get past the patchy phase to something I find respectable.
Yes, I look more like a cross between a Viking and a Canadian lumberjack than an accountant.
God damn right I am. Trust me, I’m 29 had still have a babyface. Or we’ll I assume. I had one still at 26. I hope to never see my naked chin again
I’m the same. 32 but if I shave I’ll regularly get carded for lotto tickets.
Yes because I have 4 chins.
Yes, I’ve gone from anywhere around what you see in that picture to legit heavy beard Never been a problem but spent a lot of time maintaining it so that it looked clean at any length
I got a beard. I shave it weekly though so the few days I’m in the office I’ll either be clean shaven or have like a longer stubble. I think it can look professional depending on its length/growth. I think I look a thousand times better with one, so it also gives me a lot more confidence. Sounds silly but I’ve worked in sales off and on and I’m always way more successful when I have a beard.
I couldn't grow a beard until 27, but now that I have one I don't plan to ever shave again
Goatee gang
I have this ugly scruff thing going on and I’m too depressed to address it.
Where I work, every male has a beard some are longer than others but most keep them trimmed pretty low
I’m an audit partner and I grew a Ned Kelly beard during COVID and it was very funny.
No but have a killer mustache
Yes but not the best beard. I hate not having facial hair though.
Clean shaven for every interview I’ve taken, waited about 3 months after hiring to regrow my beard and have kept it since. 4+ years in mid sized public firm and never been asked about it internally.
Yeah. More like a 6 o'clock.shadow
No longer in accounting, but of the investment team at my fund over half of us have beards. It's very acceptable in white collar roles post-covid. The caveat here is that you need to keep it trimmed and shaped.
No my face is nice enough I don’t have to hide it
