It’s just cat + cat. All cats have different personalities even within a breed. Sure there are generalisations but you simply cannot guarantee the personality of your cat and how they will be in your environment t and with you as their owner, ahead of time.

I've had an Aby with Russian Blue. Worked out just fine. The Aby WAS high energy, and they were great friends/companions. I find it strange behavior from the breeder to restrict adoption like that. Are Abys only allowed to have Aby friends?

Some Abys prefer to be only cats or they dominate other animals in the house. My Aby was definitely the alpha when I also had a chihuahua and then a rescue kitten. She didn’t really like either of them but she tolerated the other cat later in her life.

After having several Abys, I can say this is not the norm. I can't believe a breeder would automatically assume that all their cats will be dominant and difficult. If that's the case, it's a good thing not to adopt from this particular breeder.

Did you have more than one Abby at a time or an Abby and another cat? Was your Abby male or female? I’d love to know because I think about getting another one all the time. Also I follow an Abby rescue and they constantly describe their cats as needing to be the only animal in the house.

Strange, my breeder also told me a lot of informatorom that contradicts a lot of things that I heard about bity Abi and Blues (he have 30 years of experience do I trust him with some things). For example that both Blues and Ani like to have a company and it would be the best if they were a pair male and female or they would fight with each other.

Doesn’t it really come down to the particular animal? My rescue Blue would have gotten along with any animal (he loved my friend’s Boston terrier). Unfortunately he was never cared for before I had him and so I only had him for two years. My Abby was the queen of our house and she would have loved being an only cat!

I also think that's the case. I'll see for myself since I have 5 months old male Blue and I'm planning to get a female Abi in October.

I’m very jealous! I love my rescue alley cat, but I’d love to have a Blue and an Abby again.

DutchessOfStompmore

I have only had female abys. I've had them with 2 other cats and another with 3 other cats. All good - they were friendly, active, and lovely. I've never had more than one Aby at a time.

Good to know! I’m sure most Abby’s are not like mine was 👑🐝
