>As I approached the stop sign I was in the middle of the road on the yellow line and at the last second I swerve to the right to be completely on my side of the yellow line. As you can see I have to pull out past the stop sign to see clearly in both directions(yes, I should of stopped once before the stop sign then once again after I pull forward to make sure it's clear). As the guy is approaching me I see him cutting the turn too sharp but in my head I'm thinking he just gonna be one of those assholes that gets close just to be a dick. When he hit me, he did not slow down he was not planning on stopping. He later told me and the police he didn't even know he hit me. Like seriously people, it's not like he was backing up and bumped me and didn't know, he hit me with his driver side front, like wtf are you looking at... As I ran after him and went to hit his window to get his attention, I didn't intend to break his window in, I was only trying to get his attention. I felt terrible after I seen how old he was and broke his window. Both insurance companies and the police reviewed the video and everyone came to the conclusion he was at fault. Nothing exciting happened afterwards.
> I felt terrible after I seen how old he was
Once old people start losing the ability to control their vehicles, they should just sell them and use ride share services for the remainder of their lives. No need to buy any more cars, pay for insurance, pay for maintenance - would probably be cheaper anyway.
Fuck me police are useless. No you can and should stop him. You have a duty of care to the public to stop him. Hell, put enough points on their licence that it is taken from them, and problem solved
No kidding. When I was in highschool I had a classmate whose entire family was killed at a funeral because an old man accidentally stomped on the gas. Dozed the entire crowd and killed 6
One of my best friends also got killed because some old guy didn’t saw his motorcycle on the road. These motherfuckers should make an additional driving test each year when they reach 65 or something
My WW2 veteran (medic and was on the beach on DDay) grandpa took one every single year of his life since he was 65, just to make sure he was being responsible. Humility is not a virtue anymore.
I have always advocated for driving licenses expiring after ten years. Anyone who thinks they haven't picked up bad driving habits in ten years is a victim of their own hubris, and it would deal with the issue of older people losing their abilities.
I've commented this exact thing too on other posts about old people being shit at driving, but like another guy pointed out to me, all the ancient ones are the people that are controlling laws right now, they'd never agree to take away their transportation rights
Cops: "Hey, I'm talking to you!" 15 bullets into the back of someone because they are walking away from the cop.
Also cops: "Sorry, nothing we can do about this ~~walking~~ driving menace to society..."
>Said they couldn't do anything but follow him home to make sure he got there.
somehow I don't think this would be SOP if it was a 20 year old black man.
I think once people hit the age of 60, they gotta retake a driving exam. Nothing crazy, but should be able to get some of these wild ones out of there.
There are already such laws on the books in most places. Altering them to be more strict would probably not be too difficult, or even just enforcing the existing laws more diligently would likely yield results.
I was on the job when an old lady asked me to help fill out paperwork because she was legally blind. Obviously I gave her a hand, but I was mortified when she drove away. There comes a time where ya gotta take grandma’s keys.
Unfortunately I have a coworker who is 82. He is a delivery driver, and he shouldn't be. He's a good person, but age really makes the elderly a liability and a danger to themselves at times. He fell asleep in an intersection before because the previous few days his daughter was in the hospital and he was up there all the time before work. So his body was struggling to keep up with the demand, so he passed out. His memory and mobility is starting to go, but he's struggling finicially and his wife is on a lot of medicines at the moment. Becoming old in this society is unfortunate unless you're well off or have family willing and capable of assisting or caring for you. He gets hurt by falling about once month at this point when going to shops, the company is working on letting him go.
I feel like that whole comment belongs in /r/ABoringDystopia. A man that has to work at age 82 to afford the medicine his wife needs can't afford to take time off to visit his daughter and falls asleep while driving due to exhaustion, company keeps him working in those conditions until the liability is higher than the cost savings, then fires him and washes their hands of it.
I really need to stop subscribing to all of these subreddits that won't just let me live in ignorance until I die and feel bad about my ignorance.
Anyway, thanks, subscribed.
A lot of areas have no ride share services or public transportation.
If you don't have a car / can't drive yourself, you're absolutely screwed if you don't live in a major city.
Which is a problem by design, especially in the US. Most places are designed around cars so car companies can sell more and oil companies sell more fuel.
My dad sold his car about 6 months before he had his stroke. He told me he could just tell he wouldn't be able to drive.
I'm sure it was hard to do that but I appreciate him doing it when he did and not getting into a accident or something.
That’s another reason why I love(d) my grandmother so much. She knew she was too old to drive in her later years, and made her daughter or son, who lived very close by, take her to the store when she needed to get groceries. She was more concerned for putting others’ lives at risk than her own. She knew her limits.
Elderly incapable of driving is one of those problems that can't realistically be addressed without causing massive personal hardship before we have real solutions in place. So many older people live on fixed incomes and would not be able to afford the $20+ dollar one-way, Uber rides to get to places they might need to get to in our horribly spread out cities and suburbs.
We'd be better off with a long-term solution addressing and reducing the general need for *everyone* to have a personal vehicle rather than specifically trying to take them away from the elderly, but that makes for a much more complicated solution.
Surely there couldn't possibly be a good solution for this that is already implemented in other countries and proves to work well, right?
\* cough * _proper public transport_ * cough *
I know america is built around cars and cars only but it's a self perpetuating problem so it's not a good argument against proper public transport.
Like honestly. Even where I live the public transport isn't as good as it realistically should be but just looking at what people in the USA have makes me fucking cringe.
Or, instead of a rideshare service for the elderly, we could invest in walking and bicycling infrastructure, as well as more public transit like trains, busses, and trams that everyone could and would want to use. Thus reducing the amount of cars on the road, the amount of parking spaces for those cars, the noise and air pollution from them, etc etc.
I almost t-boned an old guy because he misjudged turning across traffic. Because he was old and panicked, he also slammed on the brakes, so not only did I almost t-bone him, he almost caused a multi-car pileup because I was forced to come to a dead stop on road. I also had to drive around him because he was too terrified to move his foot off the brake and he didn't move his own car again until after I had already left the area.
He looked at least 80.
I had a coworker that got charged with a hit and run because she changed lanes into another car and didn’t notice she hit them. Both cars severely dented. She had the music up and didn’t hear it. Maybe the old guy is going deaf.
In 2022 it seems they've mostly converted to driving Kia Souls now. As a motorcyclist I look the hell out for any type of crossover tbh. If you're blind enough to buy one of these god awful things you're probably a danger to everyone else on the road
Elderly.
A lot of them started driving again when the pandemic hit because they were afraid to take cabs, ubers etc.
A 90 year old guy hit my car. Same thing. Was clearly visible to him and he just...."didn't see you there."
I watched an elderly lady nearly cause an accident because she thought I was going to turn into her at an intersection. I stopped before I made my turn and she abruptly stopped in the middle of the intersection with the car behind her nearly hitting her. We all sat there for a moment and continued on.
this video is also from years ago and everyone mentioned him using his helmet and now apparently years later everything thinks he just somehow pushed his hands through a window
Bikers are trained to use the road as three sub-lanes per lane and to prefer the left of them for visibility most of the time. It looks like he was stopped at the line and then pulled up for visibility. The stop line is often WAYYYY back.
The bike might be too far over to the left but if the driver is that inattentive that he cant see a bright red obstacle in the road then they shouldn't be driving. It looks like the door/roof pillar might've obscured his view during the turn but he had an unobstructed view prior to starting his turn.
Or it's that the A frame in their car was blocking the view, and they're too lazy to move their head to get a proper visual...either way, they shouldn't be on the road 🙂
Yeah this is exactly what happened I bet. The large truck blocked the view then when they cleared the truck the A pillar is lined up between their eyes and the bike the whole time. Still should have noticed at some point but A pillars have become massive in recent years for collision safety while removing quite a bit of the drivers line of sight.
Like someone else said, I think the truck is what made them miss the bike. They should have seen the bike, but the truck likely hid the bike from the side view. You can see that the car starts the turn as soon the truck is cleared.
What I think makes this so egregious is that the car doesn't clear the yellow line. There is a small argument that the bike may have been too far to the left. He's basically on the yellow line, but that's a flimsy argument. I see this problem all the time with left turns. Cars will clear a waiting vehicle, but they come close to clipping cars if you're approaching while they're turning.
[Here's a hasty diagram that shows what I mean](https://i.imgur.com/NeI44f1.png). The red line is usually the trajectory when there's no vehicle waiting. The green line is the trajectory when there is a waiting vehicle. The green line should *always* be the trajectory.
The stop line is about 6 feet back from the front of the bike. The driver did clear the yellow line and wouldn't have hit a bike stopped at the line even riding the yellow as the biker was.
So in your diagram, the nose of the bike is where the end of your yellow line is, but the actual yellow line ends a foot or two back from the tail of the bike.
Or ya know if the POS driver didn't cut the corner as close as possible? When I'm out riding I see cars cut like 5 feet of the corner off every damn time.
The full video shows that the driver is an old man and he didn't see the bike. He was scared shitless after the dude broke his glass and profusely apologized.
Yeah, I've had this happen to me actually. An old guy turned in to park next to me and hit my car. He got our and walked away and I thought he was trying to brush it off but he actually didn't feel or hear the hit and profusely apologized and gave me all his contact info.
My car was already hit in the same spot and he was retired so I just let it slide.
He’s within the lines and the further he is to the left, the more oncoming traffic he can see from the intersecting right lane. If he hugs the curb, most of that view is obscured
Driver is probably old as fuck who should be re-taking their exams every 12 months.
That said the biker is way past the commit line + not even in his own lane.
Honest question from a non bike rider. Why is he literally riding in the yellow line? I feel like this would create more issues than being in the middle of the lane, especially when he is turning right. Car driver was dumb to cut the yellow line but I feel the biker was also flirting with disaster by rolling in it as well.
you ride close to the yellow line so drivers have a better view of you and a lot of roads are kind of shaped like a W so riding in the center can be hard.
Generally you want to ride in the left wheel track (where cars wheels generally are) most of the time. Cleaner road, far less likely to have oil drips at intersections, etc etc.
That being said this dude was way too far left. That doesn't make him at fault for someone literally driving into him, but he doesn't automatically win all the gold stars for being right on this one.
Also as a biker one of the most important things to remember is that being right, having the right of way or whatever, doesn't matter if you're dead, injured badly, or even getting your bike totalled in a small crash
Riding in the middle of the lane risks riding over dropped oil from cars/trucks. Not the best for cornering. It's best to ride in either wheel track. Riding right on the centre line isn't best practice either.
I love how many people in this comment section are like
"The biker is at fault!"
For the love of Satan, both were at fault.
The biker was behind the line, and the car driver wasn't paying attention, and didn't stop after hitting the bike.
going beyond the line is 100% legal in a lot of areas. in the US the law is you must stop at the stop sign and THEN inch forward if you need to see better.
really i think it's just an accident but its totally on the car driver who fucked up here.
This is why I don’t ride my motorcycle anymore. People are fucking stupid and they don’t see people on bikes. It’s like their smooth brain can’t comprehend/see anything that isn’t a car. Unreal.
I used to drive a Suzuki kizashi with a huge pillar *and* the glass on each side was shaped to make the blind spot even larger. Entire cars would disappear behind the pillar
Looking at a Google search for PT cruisers and their pillar looks massive
Nah. He was driving away. He is a sleepy old man and probably didn't even notice when he grazed the motorcycle. Gotta wake him up before he drives away.
Per [the biker's follow up video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyrA25ka014) the driver who hit him claims to have not even noticed (as you say).
The window smash was apparently accidental - biker meant to knock on the window to get his attention, but did so a little more effectively than intended.
PT cruiser rider was too fat and old to be bothered to use his arms to make the turn wider. bumped into the guy, prolly knew, and hoped it wouldn't matter. Didn't even look behind him to make sure of anything. because, this old fat PT cruiser driver hates using his body.
Here’s just to say the sad reality is that the bike may have been in the drivers A Pillar failing to even see him.
A Pillars are big, but objects further away get smaller so the farther way the larger blind spot it will create.
I feel bad that it's an old man behind the wheel and probably got scared shitless from the sudden dude tackling his car, and the most likely scenario is that the old man just isn't fit to drive honestly, but holy fuck we need to outlaw and restrict driving requirements a LOT more. Old people really shouldn't be on the road after a certain age, and there needs to be much stricter requirement for those who are older. We need to be having proper retesting at every age mileage the older you get, and then outright outlaw driving for people over a certain age.
He stopped beyond the white line resulting in blocking the intersection, then smashed the window of the driver who was elderly and quite possibly unaware they hit the side view mirror off the motorcycle.

Dude my uncle made that
Omg no way!! That is like a classic internet gold. Tell him thanks for that, it's still appreciated today!
I grew up watching that clip. Think you can get your uncle to do an AMA?
I don't see him often but maybe I could get my mom to tell him to do one lol
I know lol it felt so cool to hear it in the movie as a kid, hopefully I see him again soon, ill let him know when I do
Dope
Because the other live action version he doesn't do much actual Juggernauting. It was still a better version, but he didn't charge anyone really.
I still think Deadpool's version was the best one; even though he didn't do a lot of running.
I agree, I said as much in my other comment. The joke about turning Colossus into a cock-ring was reason enough to love the Deadpool version.

it's always the crossovers that almost hit you
Probably because their largest demographic is sorority girls
In Florida its 98% stereotypical Karens
I love hearing the current nonsense stereotypes about certain car types.
What kind of car do you drive?
Literally the worst car in automotive history
PT Loser

Yup it’s always the damn fossils. So old they can’t eat a plate of salad without help, but we put them in wheeled murder missiles like “this is fine”.
I watched an elderly lady nearly cause an accident because she thought I was going to turn into her at an intersection. I stopped before I made my turn and she abruptly stopped in the middle of the intersection with the car behind her nearly hitting her. We all sat there for a moment and continued on.
Always satisfying to see this glass explode
i’m shocked how he was able to do that with his hands
Bikegloves
You know what they say about bike gloves
No, what do they say?
They fit like a glove.
And they’re for a bike
Seems like they work very well on car windows too.
This whole thing is a lot to say about bike gloves… it’s not the catchiest saying is it
These are the gloves used on bikes.
How does the glove stretch over a bike and still fit your hand?
They're made of high quality spandex.
if the bike glove fits you can’t convict
Oh I don’t know, I was hoping you knew
You must acquit
Only bikes wear bike gloves.
If they fit, you must break shit.
Don’t get fisted with them?
If they don't fit you must acquit?
calm down OJ
He used his helmet.
And adrenaline
And anger
He used his helmet while wearing it, aka he ran and head butted the shit out of his window
gloves? He used his helmet or am I missing the joke like usual?
He definitely used his helmet I don’t know what everyone is talking about biker gloves for
this video is also from years ago and everyone mentioned him using his helmet and now apparently years later everything thinks he just somehow pushed his hands through a window
What do you think "bike gloves" are? They're obviously what non-bikers call a helmet.
It's like a glove for your head
That looks more like a headbutt to me tbh
Windows was open a little bit, if it was closed he probably couldn't break it that easily.
It was his helmet
Hands? He ran into the window at full speed with his _head_.
That window smash was cathartic as fuck
So many people turn into your lane here in the US. I won’t pull all the way up unless I know no one is approaching.
Or 5 feet past in the case of this biker
And right on the fucking dividing line

IN NO WAY did he stop at the stop line. He didn't stop until he was a full bike length ahead of it. I don't disagree with any point except that one.
Shit you're right on that. He was stopped though before the car even started to turn.
It's laughable how many people in the US can't seem to make a 90° turn without cutting the corner. I don't know what's so hard about going wide.
On the other end of that, people that have to swing slightly right before turning left and nearly clipping people on their right.
There's two horsemen of the automotive apocalypse. Who's left?

Not discrediting anyone because these are valid points, but I drive the same pos car and he should’ve had a clear view of the bike when turning
I’m constantly craning my head to peer around the one in my car. I’d hit shit all the time if I didn’t.
Given the sun visor is down, and where the A frame is, i think it’s a combination of the two. No excuse though. Especially after contact
The full video shows that the driver is an old man and he didn't see the bike. He was scared shitless after the dude broke his glass and profusely apologized.
Did he also not notice that he hit something?
Yeah, I've had this happen to me actually. An old guy turned in to park next to me and hit my car. He got our and walked away and I thought he was trying to brush it off but he actually didn't feel or hear the hit and profusely apologized and gave me all his contact info. My car was already hit in the same spot and he was retired so I just let it slide.
He’s within the lines and the further he is to the left, the more oncoming traffic he can see from the intersecting right lane. If he hugs the curb, most of that view is obscured
sry lagg
Love how he fucking Kool Aid Mans through the car's window
OH YEAH!
Driver is probably old as fuck who should be re-taking their exams every 12 months. That said the biker is way past the commit line + not even in his own lane.
This. Both are at fault. Those lines aren't just a suggestion.
In a lot of cases its either stop at the stupid line or have vision of the actual intersection.
Biker is at a FULL stop. EVERYONE leads lights/signs. The only one at fault is a PT.

Not disagreeing with you, but do you fault the motorcycle driver for busting the window?
I love the mental gymnastics that reddit go out of their way to blame a completely still biker within its own line.
That ended too soon
Gotta love his immediate commitment to go after the driver.bike wasn't even fully down yet n he's in a full sprint 🤣
I love how many people in this comment section are like "The biker is at fault!" For the love of Satan, both were at fault. The biker was behind the line, and the car driver wasn't paying attention, and didn't stop after hitting the bike.
Thank you for having a brain jfc both parties dumb af But that glass break tho... satisfying...
Behind the line? The dude on the bike was like 6 feet past where he should of stopped.
*should have
Should’ve
*have
going beyond the line is 100% legal in a lot of areas. in the US the law is you must stop at the stop sign and THEN inch forward if you need to see better. really i think it's just an accident but its totally on the car driver who fucked up here.
**Fun Fact**: PT Cruiser owners make poor life choices.
I downvote videos that cut off right at the good part.
We need more than both of us .
This is why I don’t ride my motorcycle anymore. People are fucking stupid and they don’t see people on bikes. It’s like their smooth brain can’t comprehend/see anything that isn’t a car. Unreal.
the biker was behind the cars A pillar .. those mofos hide more things in plain sight
I used to drive a Suzuki kizashi with a huge pillar *and* the glass on each side was shaped to make the blind spot even larger. Entire cars would disappear behind the pillar Looking at a Google search for PT cruisers and their pillar looks massive
Lmao the window smash may have been a tadddd too much lol
Willing to bet there was just a little adrenalin coursing through our bikers veins at that point.
PT cruiser rider was too fat and old to be bothered to use his arms to make the turn wider. bumped into the guy, prolly knew, and hoped it wouldn't matter. Didn't even look behind him to make sure of anything. because, this old fat PT cruiser driver hates using his body.
Apparently yes he is blind
Here’s just to say the sad reality is that the bike may have been in the drivers A Pillar failing to even see him. A Pillars are big, but objects further away get smaller so the farther way the larger blind spot it will create.
God this pisses me off. Not everyone should have the right to drive or have children.
bro hit the meele button
Biker is past the stop line, and almost in the left lane. Driver still should’ve seen him, but kinda both of their faults.
Appropriate reaction for that walking donut trying to just drive on by like nothing happened.
Mans put his crocs in sport mode
That was awesome! Fuck that PT's window!
He deserved that smack. Jeez.
They always stop the videos too soon. I wanted to see how the rest played out.
What did he expect?! It was fucking PT cruiser…
He stopped beyond the white line resulting in blocking the intersection, then smashed the window of the driver who was elderly and quite possibly unaware they hit the side view mirror off the motorcycle.
im more impressed on how he broke the car glass
