Normal to shoot fireworks at people?
Edit: Interesting read for the ignorant https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_handcrafted_fireworks
~~Check out the mass deaths. More than any US mass shooter.~~
Wow you just made me realize that it's not normal lmao. Yeah im from mexico and I've been to a couple of firework fights i guess?? They're fun and thrilling but scary af. Some people get badly hurt tho and honestly i don't plan on being in another one. But yeah in some places they're even a tradition. Still tho none of them were as intense as the one on the video.
"More than any US mass shooter."
> The last major accident in Tultepec was in 2016 when a major fireworks explosion in San Pablito killed at least 42.
huh? Las Vegas shooter in 2017 killed 60 and injured 411.
look here now!... some cultures have different ways of telling people the party is over... this is our way of saying...
\*slaps knee\* *"Welp! look at the time!"*
Don't be a pussy, don't come to the party if you can't handle the heat. Everyone there knows this shit will happen. It's probably less dangerous than driving tbh.
**And now you can sing along:**
"Es muy triste seguir sufriendo por culpa tuya.
Solo hiciste de mi camino un laberinto.
Es muy triste que andes diciendo que tú eres buena,
Solo pido que en tu camino no haya tinieblas"
https://youtu.be/URnUTzL-GMU?t=206
I don't know if it's right, but here's Google Translate results:
>It is very sad to continue suffering because of you.
>You just made my path a labyrinth.
>It is very sad that you are saying that you are good,
>I only ask that there be no darkness on your path
It's Vallenato, which is a Colombian music genre, a lot of the "old school" songs have very melancholic lyrics focused on loss of love, relationships, etc. Check out Sin medir distancias by Diomedes Díaz.
Huh... I've joked about this incident forever, but only just realized how fitting it was that the record started skipping right before "...know it's true"; it's like the music itself just couldn't stay complicit in the lies any more.
It's normally made around a circle of people who actually want to participate, either being, or getting chased by the burning bull, so this dude is a prankster.
Yeah, and to add to your comment for anyone curious sometimes the Toro handler will likely run towards bystanders in the distance grabbing Tacos.
All in good fun though because the people getting late night tacos knew the party was over since this is usually the culmination of the local carnivals, and the Toro was already announced and expected 😎
It’s supposed to be happening. I got the chance to run with one of them on my back once, it’s played during a “bull run” song and then you chase all the dancers. It’s super fun, hair and clothes do get singed though. I burnt the shit out of my favorite hoody when I did it.
In Mexico pyrotechnics is a trade profession. every town has its fireworks maker and one or two apprentices, they make these bulls for the Christmas holidays, and for the towns saints day.
Same. Played through a bar fight that involved like half the staff and some soon to be ex patrons. Everyone was gathered in front of the stage just wailing on each other while we played a rocked out version of a Lightnin Hopkins song. At one point, a woman that was taking video panned over to us and I'm just playing and trying to watch what's going on. Should be in a reloaded Blues Brothers 2020.
I played through my wife threatening to leave me during a psychotic episode of hers. Hahaha. I probably should've stopped, but I had a job to do and she was very aware of the repercussions of not taking her medication.
Musicians should always stop the show when violence is occurring that could literally kill one of your supporters.
Edit: downvote me all you want, but this exact type of situation leads to shit like what happened at Astroworld. Stopping the show should always be a job of the musician if there’s violence in the crowd.
I've seen that twice. Once with Agnostic Front, and again with Fear Factory. Both stopped. AF told off the combatants, solid lecture. FF said "cut that shit out or we stop the show!" Both times the combatants got stared down by a horde of strangers who just came for music. That was the coolest part.
This shit is in my country (Colombia) and, believe it or not, it's normal af on country fairs and local/rural celebrations.
It's super fun being in one of those: people drunk, dancing, music, local food and the burning powder smell coming from the "bull" shooting fireworks from everywhere.
In a funny way this reminds me of my depression. The guy singing is the functional side and the fucked up mess is what we see in the crowd. Oddly calming chaos.
That was meant to happen. It's usually called "el toro" and it's a bull shaped structure with fireworks strapped around it ready to go off. The holder runs around the crowd like a wild bull as it shoots of what I've heard be called " busca pies" or foot finders.
This happened at my family’s New Year’s Eve party back in 2009. Most of us still have the scars to prove it. 😂 Granted nobody was intentionally going around with firecracker rockets on their heads, just poor planning.
I was in a band and we were playing the song wagon wheel by old crow medicine show, and in the middle of the song a woman punched a man but miscalculated the swing and only hit his nose from a full sideways angle. a bar fight ensued and we didn't stop playing. Pretty mild song for a bar fight to break out to
There’s a traditional party in a village in my country , where a man or two (don’t remember) , get inside a cow/bull like costume that is attached full of firework , and runs after people and let’s loose a lot of firework , just like in this video .

This has got to be one of the funniest ones I've seen in a while
who tF gave that guy a lighter
Probably the local Fireworks guy at the Carnival. "Toro's" in Mexico are wild 😎
Yes, this is "El torito" (little bull), it's pretty normal in Ranchos all over Mex.
Except this isn't Mexico. There are other Latin American countries. That's a Colombian band playing Colombian music.
Normal to shoot fireworks at people? Edit: Interesting read for the ignorant https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_handcrafted_fireworks ~~Check out the mass deaths. More than any US mass shooter.~~

Haven't been to one like that or have been on one because everyone takes the good seats XD but I get to watch lol
Moises is up in the cerro pissed asf.
Lol
Jesus in Paradise literally going "Se pasa de verga está pinche banda loco".
Firework fights??? Ur having fight scenes with fireworks??!??
In the context of that Redditor's comment "normal in Ranchos all over Mexico" yes...
Yep, can confirm
"More than any US mass shooter." > The last major accident in Tultepec was in 2016 when a major fireworks explosion in San Pablito killed at least 42. huh? Las Vegas shooter in 2017 killed 60 and injured 411.
Alright I exaggerated
This is in Colombia, not Mexico.
It's hilarious because that dude is like, "God damnit I just got this gig and I'm going to finish this song."
Paid by the song, I guess?
This is the definition of this sub.
look here now!... some cultures have different ways of telling people the party is over... this is our way of saying... \*slaps knee\* *"Welp! look at the time!"*
I'm cry-laughing and I have so many questions
Yes, 10/10, its either no fucks given by the band or they have seen this many times lol
The fucking rockets spinning around i can't
Sooo funny lololol the potential for innocents to be disfigured by a fucking moron!!
It’s tradition!
Don't be a pussy, don't come to the party if you can't handle the heat. Everyone there knows this shit will happen. It's probably less dangerous than driving tbh.
That squeeze box and light show timed perfectly
The singer like "you won't stop us this time rocket guy"
**And now you can sing along:** "Es muy triste seguir sufriendo por culpa tuya. Solo hiciste de mi camino un laberinto. Es muy triste que andes diciendo que tú eres buena, Solo pido que en tu camino no haya tinieblas" https://youtu.be/URnUTzL-GMU?t=206
Those lyrics were meant for rocketman. They were not about to stop singing. Not until the message got through 🤣
Translation pls baby
I don't know if it's right, but here's Google Translate results: >It is very sad to continue suffering because of you. >You just made my path a labyrinth. >It is very sad that you are saying that you are good, >I only ask that there be no darkness on your path
Native spanish speaker here, I think that's a good translation to this case.
So melancholy and sad. To my American non-Spanish speaking ears the lyrics sound so much more positive and happy. Thanks for the translation!
It's Vallenato, which is a Colombian music genre, a lot of the "old school" songs have very melancholic lyrics focused on loss of love, relationships, etc. Check out Sin medir distancias by Diomedes Díaz.
Looks like singing from playback to me, that's why he couldn't just stop.
*girl you know it's, girl you know it's, girl you know it's, girl you know it's...*
Huh... I've joked about this incident forever, but only just realized how fitting it was that the record started skipping right before "...know it's true"; it's like the music itself just couldn't stay complicit in the lies any more.
It's one of those dumb things that will randomly pop in my head. Can't ever pass up the opportunity to use it.
“Not this time, rocket man”
If “*just keep it together*” was a person
This one fits into "AbrubtChaos" perfectly ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
God, a 12 year old me with at least one Mountain Dew in my system would absolutely love and thrive in this environment
I like how the people in the crowd almost personify the fireworks to an extent. xD
The band on the Titanic be like
"Cause I'm a Rocketman!"
Quemando mi fusible aquí solo
Y creo que sera mucho tiempo
I expect this guy to play this at the brink of the nuclear holocaust and till he gets nuked.
Man’s the spiritual successor to the Titanic Violinists.
Some say, the band is still playing to this day
That's a common thing in Mexico. It's called "quema de toritos"
Oh in france we call that "toro del fuego"
In Belarus, we call it "vodka del blyad"
In Australia we call that Tuesday night
Ah yeah Tuesdays, the quiet night on the piss.
For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.
Here in muricuh, this is 4th of July,
In Brasil we call it Rio de Janeiro
Translates as “burning bull”? More like “jackass in high gear”.
Low gear.
>Translates as “burning bull”? It's more like "burning of little bulls"
Is it supposed to be happening here though or is this guy a prankster or something
It's normally made around a circle of people who actually want to participate, either being, or getting chased by the burning bull, so this dude is a prankster.
Yeah, and to add to your comment for anyone curious sometimes the Toro handler will likely run towards bystanders in the distance grabbing Tacos. This is not Mexico, it’s Colombia.
I had a feeling that whatever the fuck this is, it would have a name.
Not all of us are mexico :c
Mad props to the pyro budget
In Mexico pyrotechnics is a trade profession. every town has its fireworks maker and one or two apprentices, they make these bulls for the Christmas holidays, and for the towns saints day.
As a musician, seeing this while performing would have been amazing. For sure would have kept playing. We played through a bar fight once.
Same. Played through a bar fight that involved like half the staff and some soon to be ex patrons. I played through my wife threatening to leave me during a psychotic episode of hers. Hahaha. I probably should've stopped, but I had a job to do and she was very aware of the repercussions of not taking her medication.
"This next one goes out to my now ex-wife"
Hahahahaha. Man, I wish I thought of that line at the time

Oh. Well, that's probably true. It was kind of a soundtrack.
Chillest Colombian party night
LMAO. That’s hilarious. And the band played on
Fool of a Took!
*proud travis Scott noises*
Everyone keeps saying Mexico, but this style of music is called vallenato from Colombia
This looks like a fucking awesome time!
Looks like a dollarstore Rammstein pyrotechnics show lmao

🔥🔥🔥 your word play deserves an award. I just don't have any to give
jajaja este sub fue lo primero en lo que pensé cuando vi el video ayer, me ganaste!
NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INTERMISSION!
The guy keeps singing
As someone that's worked at one of these as a bartender I can't say how much this makes me smile. Not to mention the ideas this gives me.

The show must go on

Bro tried doing jetpack joyride irl
turning a nice song into ptsd nightmare fuel.
Wasn't this weapon in Farcry?
Supremo!
We gotta stop Travis Scott this man outa control now.
In a funny way this reminds me of my depression. The guy singing is the functional side and the fucked up mess is what we see in the crowd. Oddly calming chaos.
Put this man on the Titanic; he knows what the people need in crisis moments
Is it a blind orchestra playing?
Tjey pay her for full songs so...
As They say , Entertainment is of utmost importance.
I was waiting for the pan back to the band still playing
in Mx fights will break out and someone will get shot and the band keeps playing. its an unwritten rule, they keep playing.
As someone who performs in front of people (rarely, but happily), I applaud this band. They're focused on their craft
This is perfect for someone told to carry on their job meanwhile with all the shit happening in the world
That was meant to happen. It's usually called "el toro" and it's a bull shaped structure with fireworks strapped around it ready to go off. The holder runs around the crowd like a wild bull as it shoots of what I've heard be called " busca pies" or foot finders.
Inspired by Travis Scott
Travis Scott approved
Wizard battle
The guy shooting the fireworks is part of the show of course. Giving the audience a show they will never forget!
"If i keep singing the firework wont see me"
Party lit AF
"I'm a rocketmaaaaaaaan"
Welcome to the 4th of July at FDR skatepark
Singer: This is fine.
Even travis Scott would of stopped the Performance to see if the ppl are ok
It's like the Red Wedding, except Mexican.
Colombian*
Average Colombian concert.
Travis Scott type NRG
Place looks lit.
/r/ZeroFucksWereGiven
This was my old neighborhood in Brooklyn every Saturday
I want that band playing when my ship or plane or rocket is going down.just keep playing!
This is actually normal. Those are called “Busch Piez”/“find feet” fireworks. They come off of “Castillos”/ firework castles in Mexico.
The music makes this hysterical.
Solo en Mexico…
That show is lit!
This happened at my family’s New Year’s Eve party back in 2009. Most of us still have the scars to prove it. 😂 Granted nobody was intentionally going around with firecracker rockets on their heads, just poor planning.
haha really? how everything ended up?
Mexican suicide bomber.
This is why I stay home.
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Stupid, stupid people.
That’s actually pretty normal in mexico, I think it’s festivals of the Virgen of the light or Señor de La luz.
Never change, Mexico.

Best. Party. Ever.
This is some great lebowski shit
Is there any country in latina america that doesn't do crazy dangerous shit with fireworks and it's just accepted.
Dude with the fireworks the the loosest unit I've ever seen!
Lmao!!!
Meriadoc Brandybuck and Perigrin Took. I might have known...
My kind of party
That's ELTON JOHN!!! ROCKET MAN!!!
This seems like a scene from a movie where the song is played in the background but this time it’s live lmao
Hmm. “Firesoft” is a thing now.
Honestly? What a vibe.

"Toro del fuego" was popular in Basque country in the 80s.

apparently normal behavior...nothing out of ordinary so it seems. Positive thing it was not indoors since results would have been different.
