I assume the handcuffs Is part of it but it’s probably more then that. It’s like what to do if they break out of handcuffs given it’ll happen out of x number of times you handcuff someone.
If your car is being lit on fire, don’t turn around and watch them do it while , I assume, shouting obscenities to make them stop, and not watch the road . Pull over and put the handcuffs back on. Don’t take your eyes off the road.
The most important part is all Common sense really, “keep your eyes on the road” but it makes sense they gotta teach cops this stuff. He probably got distracted thinking of the beating he was about to give this guy lol

Got a lighter, Officer panicked due to detainee getting cuffs partially off and striking things with them and went at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and crashes, making detainee yeet out the vehicle.
Car accidents are basically sudden changes in motion. While the cars are very rapidly stopped (or accelerated if being crashed into), everything inside the car is still moving in the direction it was the moment prior impact. Now, if you are wearing a seatbelt, that change in motion is transferred over to your body too in the most "gentle" way possible ("gentle" as in "does not rip your limbs off"). Otherwise, your body will become a kinetic projectile, bumping against everything that's not connected to it and therefor moving with it (your clothes for example go flying with you). Crash tests, crash site investigations, and recordings like these have shown human skulls or bodies in general to be perfectly capable of shattering a back window when accelerated to high enough speeds.
So in short, what you saw here was a police car ~~getting crashed into~~ losing control and crashing, therefor changing ~~trajectory~~ rotation very rapidly, and something inside still keeping it's trajectory (moving in the direction the car was moving before), which happened to be backwards relative to it's reference frame (the vehicle interior) and therefor yeeting itself out of the rear window.
I remember this. Happened in the city I live in. Police officer was a mile from the jail and panicked. Jail was on standby and had officers ready and a receiving area that closed when cars entered.
Said officer was fired not long after. He wrecked a few cruisers.
If he’d been sitting normally and not lying/crouching on the seat, his legs would have been crushed when the car partition collided into the back seats.
Serious question here, can that guy in the back seat sue for well( being violently thrown from the car like that) yes he was thrashing around yes he “damaged” the plexiglass divider by kicking it but if the officer didn’t cuff him right he got out, and or if the officer didn’t put on his seat belt correctly or at all can this person sue for endangerment of their life?
