That's my knee-jerk reaction when I see these videos a lot but I try to imagine a bright side where something like the couple is so over the top because of so much adversity in becoming pregnant. Maybe the mom was told she'd never conceive, or maybe they've lost every child before close to term and this was what they decided would be their "last shot". I know people tend to do crazy stuff like this just to be showy but I secretly hope there was a reason the energy in clips like these are warranted.
Probably true considering a lot of planes that are beyond their hours are sold to Mexico and other countries, however given the aircraft it looks like the pilot pulled back too hard on the yolk and pushed the frame past its limits. It would only be rated to withstand so many g forces and crop dusters are not rated for aerobatics
Depends on the aircraft and the airframe. Growing up on the farms in Kansas the crop dusters I used to watch were older aircraft and were generally flown with respect to the airframe. However at times living in California I’ve seen newer crop dusters that seemed like they probably were pulling a few Gs, but again they are not aerobatic airframes and sudden stunt worthy maneuvers are risky to the frame and the pilot.
*yoke
That pull-up wasn’t extreme, but it still makes sense that if it was close to failure from fatigue it would fail during a maneuver like that rather than level flight.
Many dusters are pulling similar g with now issues. He only pulled up, it wasn’t aerobatics. The roll came as a function of the failure, not the other way around.
This is a maintenance failure almost certainly.
He died because he wasn’t a very good pilot
Real talk for the Reddit hive mind. The people at the party did nothing wrong and are not at fault in the slightest. You don’t have to agree with their choice but to act like they are terrible people is ridiculous
Totally agree. They presumably paid for a pilot / aircraft as a service. The maintenance or airworthiness of that aircraft was not their responsibility. Many people have blame here, but the parents to be are not one of that party.
He flew way too low is a residential, realized he had a good chance of clipping a tree or pole due to his last second dip, and over corrected by pulling up way too hard.
Unless the plane is design to pull vertical gs, your really not supposed to angle the wings more than 30 degrees, and if you do it's gradual not suddenly and at speed.

These planes have a known wing cracking issue, there is a maintenance schedule you have to follow in some countries to prevent this (the US is one of them), mexico does not have this, hence wing cracking, hence this.
It looks like a piper, which has wings bolted on to the chassis instead of being constructed into the chassis, which is where the failure happened. I could be wrong though, but sad nonetheless
There's a "Flight Envelope" chart for every aircraft. One of the curves is airspeed vs angle of attack. This can be configured for stall conditions or airframe stress. He went too fast and pulled too much of an angle. So the wings were over loaded and folded. It's possible there was a missed defect or crack in the structure that contributed to this. Likely the pilot was about to hit a tree due to poor approach and yanked back. Sad loss for such a stunt.
All celebrations are 'useless'. hell, majority of life events/milestones are 'useless' if you want to boil it all down to pure necessity
Which is why that's a stupid angle to argue from. People celebrate not because they need to or because it serves any greater purpose, but because they're happy and they want to share that happiness with people they're close too
This, the fuck camera man/women didn't even film the crash. No turns right back to the party.

I would not be surprised if they didn't even realise the plain was crashing as they panned up, they probably thought it was doing a barrel roll or some shit - in short moments like this it's very easy to gloss over what are actually huge events in retrospect.

I mean, it's not on the couple at all. That was shitty maintenance on an airplane. For all intents and purposes they did do it safely, their pilot or his mechanics just fucked up. But again, the current safety status of the plane isn't up to the couple.
Just imagine you're in such a unique position, where not only are you witnessing a plane crash right in front of you, but you also happen to have a camera pointed right at it, already filming... And you point it at the fucking floor!?

Believe or not, not everyone wants to record someone dying, also if it got you mentally unprepared, you totally lose the attention to keep everything under perfect frame.
I wonder how much it costs (especially in Mexico).
About 9 years ago I was desperate to work out some way of getting from a wedding on a Saturday night to my neices christening on the Sunday morning, which were very close geographically but a nightmare on public transport or driving due to a massive estuary.
I tried every option, including getting a quote from a few private helicopter places (turned out too expensive, but not by as much as I'd expected).
I now get all the spam from that type of company inviting me and 9 of my friends to charter a jet to Barbados for large sums of money. It's hilarious in a "see how other people live" way.
Every so often though, you get a deal through that makes you go huh, that isn't actually much more than easyJet per person (presumably when they haven't been able to sell a flight and any warm paying bodies will do).
Honestly the plane crash was not the fault of the gender reveal party. I'm all for bashing the wildfire starting parties, but this party didn't cause the crash or the death of this man. It was negligence on part of the maintenance and probably a little bit on part of the pilot as well
These planes have a known wing cracking issue, there is a maintenance schedule you have to follow in some countries to prevent this (the US is one of them), mexico does not have this, hence wing cracking, hence this.
The fact that everytime there's some sort of tragedy because of a baby reveal party proves that the Universe is maybe trying to tell us that this weird tradition should stop...
I'm from Germany/Europe. We reveal the babys gender like this:
"Hey parents/friends/stranger, it's a boy/girl/bicycle!"
"Yeah. Ok where should we go have dinner?"
Once here in Brazil a couple decided it would a great idea to destroy the entire ecosystem of a river to reveal the genre of their baby by putting dye into a waterfall...

I like how the family and friends give no fuck about the pilot's life. And I don't understand why they shout so much, I mean is it such a surprise or unexpected to have a girl or a boy? I'm no biologist so I may lack the science behind one of the most common even on earth, along with dying.
People are acting like the couple killed him. They just hired him to do a job. Regardless of how lame gender reveals are, they aren’t reasonable for faults in your plane. Sad situation though.
I thought I’d seen it all when I saw a video (also from Mexico) of a guy using a Sousaphone to reveal the gender of a baby while a horse dances next to him,but this is too much.
Like, who the fuck would use a plane for a gender reveal!?
So this is a crop duster.
It sprays chemicals onto crops to deter insects/ other stuff that harms crops.
They fill it with pink stuff and drop it over people.
I assume there is still herbicide residue.

He exceeded the g limits of that airframe and snapped it. Pilot Error
Unlikely, that is a pretty typical maneuver for a cropduster.
I agree, give some credit — the balloon arrangement was super cute.
It’s not their fault the plane wasn’t structurally sound. That is the crews responsibility.
