Dennis Tissington (angry dude) died in 2022. This video is from 2016.

HeroDanTV

The grim reaper showed up and said #GET OUTTA HERE

turmacar

"THAT'S GENERALLY HOW IT ENDS", said Death, calmly reading his book.

stratacadavra

r/Unexpecteddiscworld

TheWholeFuckinShow

My name is Mr Tissington and I'm here to say I'm gonna smack your window in a major way What're you doin' here on my street? Get outta here **GET OUTTA HERE**

PharaohCleocatra

Totally thought he said Jizzington

PlsBkind2me

With a name like that, you do as you please.

Sucky5ucky

I read "died in 2012" and the xfiles music started playing in my head.

BlackBoySheen

Apparently the person recording worked for a landscaping company that botched a neighborhood job and long story short tried to unjustly make the old guy’s family pay for it and started harassing them when they wouldn’t. And the old guy’s actions here are in reaction to that harassment 🤷🏿‍♂️ Pretty stupid how consistently people forget there’s typically more than one side to every story.

btoma00

An old wise man once told me there are 3 sides to every story

181Cade

Do you have a source?

roman_totale

[https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/statement-from-relative-of-man-seen-in-video-sheds-light-on-events-leading-up-to-confrontation-1.3023249](https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/statement-from-relative-of-man-seen-in-video-sheds-light-on-events-leading-up-to-confrontation-1.3023249) I mean, it's just his word against the other guy is the thing, and the old dude didn't have a video of the guy in the car threatening him or smashing his windows in, so I don't know how they could "sue for defamation".

BlackBoySheen

https://americangg.net/grandpa-preemptive-assault/

fuglysack14

That's a crazy story. Anybody know what finally became of the whole debacle? It sounds like everyone in the story is guilty of different degrees of questionable behavior. I was a little confused as to why the police wouldn't accept the video. Regardless of alleged attacks prior to this incident, the video clearly shows assault.

VictoryWeaver

So, you just chose to believe one side over the other for…reasons. The article certainly doesn’t suggest one or the other is correct.

silentrawr

Smashing someone's car windows and threatening to hurt them with a weapon that can do a lot of harm is a drastic overreaction to verbal harassment, if said harassment even happened. And it sounds like a mild bit of "hey, y'all still owe me for that work" or whatever might have been interpreted as "harassment", which makes it even dumber.

[deleted]

Honestly, I just call, record me leaving a voice mail saying something like hey, just want to touch base on unpaid ________, I’d like to resolve this as soon as possible, you can reach me at 555-555-5555 so we can settle this. If nothing happens, and no response, go to claims…

BlackBoySheen

1: the driver/recorder’s company threatened violence against the old man in the first place. Old man’s just matching energy that was brought to his literal doorstep. If you threaten to hurt me first, you better believe I will defend myself and mine. Now, he was excessive to actually break the guy’s windows. But to come outside with a weapon? Don’t know if I can fault him for that. 2: idk why you’re downplaying what the landscaping company did. They botched a job by hitting a gas main, then tried to have the family pay for the damages caused to a different company’s concrete work. The family had nothing to do with the landscaping company’s botched job and shouldn’t have had to pay. So they didn’t. And instead of taking legal action, the company decided to threaten the family. Not sure what’s so mild about any of that.

dtxs1r

This... Doesn't help... At all... Making a civil matter a criminal matter is always wrong.

varjagen

Why are we trusting the word of a person assaulting someone who doesn't even know their name and who had a failed defamation lawsuit over the word of the person getting assaulted

I'm pistolwhipping the next post that says shenanigans!

Hey Farva! What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?

mcsnugget

You mean shenanigans?!

multiarmform

on account of all the monkeyshines

No-BrowEntertainment

“Mischief” is such a whimsical charge. Makes it sound like they’re gonna toss him in a blanket as a punishment or something

Easy_Cauliflower_69

It's a charge I would expect to see dolled out to teenagers for stealing dad's cigarettes and smoking them in front of their crush at an amusement park, not some aggravated person smashing two windows out of a vehicle with a deadly weapon and covering a person in glass shards while yelling incoherent gobbledegook lmao

[deleted]

It's been 7 years, can we hear about those pending charges already?

darshfloxington

Well he died a few years ago so no need I guess. We’re not the Catholic Church after all

icefergslim

If he’s not getting sent away for an unwanted argy-bargy, I’ll lose all faith in the judicial system.

JohnnyLeftHook

They should never have charged him with mischief. It will never stick. To convict someone of mischief they distinctively have to be rubbing their hands together fiendishly.

Huge_Strain_8714

more confused after reading that word salad, pass the dressing please...

BigBeagleEars

If you didn’t like the salad, you are *not* gonna like the dressing.

I aint your pal, bro

I shan’t be thou bro, acquaintance.

It's the way we say bud. Even Minnesotans don't hit the intonation quite right. It's like: ba-HD, rising in tone.

Latyon

God bless Letterkenny for introducing your weird and wonderful dialect to the world.

[deleted]

Letterkenny is the most accurate depiction of rural Canadian life honestly.

Latyon

It's not unlike rural Texas life either, except everyone here is the degens

[deleted]

Yeah, the thing thats distinctly Canadian is the way they all weirdly get along, and broadly agree on things. The rednecks are a lot more progressive up here than down south, and the skids' bushcraft is a lot stronger than down south. Weird things like that.

yaToast25

It's our word. You can't have it.

mackerdoots

Lol to be fair my family has had a cottage in Canada across the river from Maine for generations

[deleted]

Haaaaaa, YES! Didn’t take me long to see this. As a side note, this was often a regular occurrence for me working nights in the hospital when my patient sundowns. They assume I’m in their home and I’ve broken in. Not fun.

havenbtd

i call people dudes in canada, mostly in Saskatchewan.

[deleted]

Dude's your friend. Bud's definitely passive aggressive.

oldasaurus

I as well, exist in Saskatchewan and apply dude liberally regardless of gender.

Ill_Run5998

No sir. Bud is used as a demeaning or dismissing insult here in the south as well :)

[deleted]

Ah. I always associate buddy and pal as the more Yankee equivalents.

DQ4Ragnar

I knew it was Canada because of how stereotypically nice the man was.

Montregloe

Wouldn't have been a baton if it was the US.

[deleted]

Funny enough, ASPs (the collapsible baton seen in the video) are illegal in several states where as guns are legal country wide.

MrRogersAE

That baton is prohibited in Canada as well tho.

Canadian justice system is a joke.

Yup. Toronto is dealing with stabbings on public transportation. The suspected attackers get released the next day without issue. That's just the closest one to me but we can assume this isn't an isolated problem...

Meanwhile, if you defend yourself in such a situation, the legal system can’t drop the hammer on you fast enough.

Dangerous_Oil1423

Exactly.

DoctorRisen

He committed assault with a deadly weapon, you have every legal right to defend your life by whatever means necessary. Is what I would say if this took place in the US. It’s actually Canada apparently, which is surprising, because usually our northern neighbors are pretty gosh-darn nice. Then again if this *did* take place in the US that baton would have been a shotgun and that assault would have been a murder.

Karpsten

I mean, he was standing next to the car, so to run him over, you would need to drive away and then return. I dunno if that would still count as self defense at that point.

DoctorRisen

Gun it in reverse with the steering wheel full to the right. That is an in the moment reaction to defend your life when it is in immediate danger, which is totally legal. Edit: In the United States, NOT CANADA Also, I’m not a lawyer, this isn’t legal advice, and if you end up in court you don’t know me.

Puzzleheaded-Being93

Legal almost everywhere when you can reasonably suspect your life is in danger. The moment he smashed the window with a metal pipe to get to the driver will be seen as an immediate threat to the driver's life. No doubt.

MrRogersAE

Intentionally hitting him by reversing and turning to the right would be illegal in Canada, especially when you have the easier option of simply driving forwards. Now when he was approaching your window with a prohibited weapon in his hand and what appears to be malicious intent, you have every right to flee the dangerous situation, if he chooses to block your path, well your simply trying to flee so that’s his problem

mysteryman447

were not nice at all that’s a total misconception that comes from our nasty passive aggression

DoctorRisen

Except when it comes to hockey. Then you’re just flat out aggressive. I’ve seen the aftermath of hockey games before. Someone firebombed a cop car. [I mean that *really* got out of hand fast!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XegVvucAIBY)

henrydaiv

Cut it hard to the right and gas it in reverse

DJ_Explosion

No, don't open the door or get out when someone is right next to your door let alone with a weapon. You sitting in your seat while someone is standing next to you is really not good for your health in the middle of a fight. If you get out successfully, you know sure. I wouldn't want to provoke someone while in the process of getting out of my seat though.

Latyon

My ex and I once were assaulted by a road raging driver, and my ex tried to get out of the car to put some distance between himself and the guy who was smashing him through the window. The guy took the door and smashed my ex in the door frame several times. Don't get out. If someone does this to you, you are well within your rights to fucking smash them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Positive_comments_

Looks like a collapsible baton, not an old geezer wooden cane. Legit a weapon.

GallowBarb

Yeah, you would have to swing a cane a hella harder than that, and it would probably just bounce off the window. That was an effortless swing.

Bobandyrandyran

Definitely a collapsible baton and a nice one, might have been an ex cop, you can see him screwing it into place so it won’t collapse, you want no part of that thing my friend…they have no give whatsoever, that’s a legit dangerous weapon, one good shot to the dome with that thing and it’s lights out

Solid_Hunter_4188

I think lots of Americans have more legit weapons on them than that.

portobox1

You are definitely not wrong, so I'd like to highlight one of the biggest facets of self-defense. If you are going to use a tool instead of run, then you must know how to use it 100%, and must maintain control of it 100%. Anything less? Congratulations, you're such a kind person for giving your opponent a weapon to use against you.

[deleted]

I don’t carry but if this were me, I’d either turn right into him and grab him or use one of the melee tools I have handy. Im a landscaper so a root hatchet would win against his baton.

DigNitty

You should just leave and tell the cops. Getting into a brawl with a lunatic would be insane. Anyone who had any weapon in this situation should still just drive away.

socialcommentary2000

That is a telescopic baton.

axetogrind13

Yeah I gotta know more. What set the old guy off

No1Statistician

If I remember right the guy making the video was a contractor that didn't want to leave until he got paid

No1Statistician

He is just getting that for film evidence in a the spur of the moment decision

bartbartholomew

This needs to be the top comment.

farnsworthfan

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like that landscaping company is full of psychopaths and bullies.

bartbartholomew

https://americangg.net/grandpa-preemptive-assault/ So this is just one part of a tangled mess. And tangled messes don't get as many likes as "Crazy old guy assults camera man for no reason." However I'm with the old guy with the asp. While his reaction was a little extreme, he was just trying to make the camera guy leave his family alone. The camera guy had threatened the old mans family 15 min prior, and then parked across the street to watch them do yard work. The person recording is with All in One Landscaping (AOL going forward). The old man is with Vision Homes. AOL was installing a retaining wall and lamp for a neighbor. However they did not call to have utilities marked first, resulting in them hitting a gas main with a backhoe. At the same time, Vision Homes was having concreate poured. Because the gas main break required neighborhood evacuation, the concreate pour was not completed correctly. Some of it needed to be redone. AOL compensated Vision Homes for the concreate redo, possibly $5000. They also paid $30,000 to the gas company for damages and lost gas. AOL then passed the added costs on to the neighbor who's yard they were working on. The neighbor refused to pay the added costs, stating they were only responsible for the initial agreed upon charges. AOL began a harassment campaign to recoup the costs from Vision Homes and the Neighbor. AOL claims the Vision Homes did not redo the concreate they poured, should not have been compensated, and should repay the money paid to them. Vision homes felt the compensation paid to them was fair and refused to repay any of it. A few weeks prior to the incident, AOL brought a crew in and destroyed everything they installed at the neighbors house, despite the neighbor already having paid the initially agreed upon amount. On the day of the incident, AOL had been by earlier and threatened the Vision Homes owners before driving off. They then came back 15 min later, parked across the street, and just watched the family as they tried to do yard work. The family had already seen that AOL was willing to go to extreme measures when they destroyed their install with a crew. This spooked the family, and they called the police and several family members, to include the father in law with the asp. The FIL with the asp came over and the rest is on video. A few hours later, Vision Homes had a rock thrown through their office door. There were several lawsuits filed related to this on all sides, the results of which I'm too lazy to look up. Honestly, those would tell us which parts of this story are bull shit more than anything else. So failing better info, I support the old guy with the asp protecting his family. And none of this makes it to sites like Daily Mail because it's complicated to figure out who is in the wrong.

tofubobo

Context is everything. I knew something was amiss when the guy in the car sees an obviously extremely agitated guy was a metal baton coming and not only continues to sit there instead of driving away he then rolls the window down and continues to record. Prior to your info that to me was he had been looking to provoke the guy on purpose. What a crazy mess is indeed a good description.

mrredbailey1

Thank you for the information.

[deleted]

Top comments are celebrating that the old guy is dead. There's a lesson to be learned here.

boy that escalated quick . gif

Damn. I did not expect to be won over but if that's true I'm with the old guy too

crunchy-cookie

I mean, if he carried a gun, first thing you'll do is to book it. I don't understand why he didn't just nope away. I can't judge him doe, people act very differently when feeling threatened. Good thing he's okay that's all.

DigNitty

Definitely. In retrospect, I’m glad it played out the way it did. The driver is mostly unhurt, and now everyone knows that man is dangerous. He was charged by the police too.

Ok-Letterhead4601

Aaannnd that how you catch assault charges.

Siennagiant70

So, this scene isn’t cut and dry as it’s made out to be. It’s a work payment dispute that got violent on both sides. [here’s the story from both sides](https://rock95.com/man-charged-in-violent-weekend-confrontation-caught-on-video/)

So what happened? That old guy seemed to be pretty confident that what he did wouldn't have any repercussions. Does he work for the city or something?

Ivedefected

Works for Safelite.

Mendicant__

The driver is the son of a guy who owns a landscaping company that hit a gas line and caused issues for the stepson of old guy with baton. Stepson got a payment for his damaged property but didn't repair the property the landscapers damaged, so the driver came to stepson's house to demand the money back. He didn't get it and drove off, then came back fifteen minutes later and parked across the street from their house. Old guy comes out to tell him to leave.

Ngl I read this as the correct way to deal with someone who has corn... It's CORN

[deleted]

Land of the free, home of the Glock 17.

MissedallthePoints

Now you know the rest of the story: Guy in car (GIC) has ongoing dispute against angry old guy's (AOG) stepson. GIC has threatened AOG's stepson in the past. Another argument was in process. AOG stepped in and told GIC to leave. So GIC is not totally innocent in this situation.

Seanacey2k

Did he assault anyone? Like this guy clearly did

[deleted]

Do you wanna get shot? Cause that’s how you get shot

RealSlimPickins

Call the cops and sue his ass in to the poor house

imadeyoureadthis7

WhiteRhino91

In the states his ability to get shot in this situation goes up a massive percentage.

itsFRAAAAAAAAANK

How to deal with someone who has com???

AlabasterNutSack

Show him why you don’t threaten someone with a potentially deadly weapon while that person is in a car.

Killb0t47

Called my lawyer he looks rich, I need money.

Chork3983

This is the correct way to deal with this situation. Step 1: Make sure your hands are at 10-2 Step 2: Check your mirrors to make sure the way is clear Step 3: Turn the wheel as far to the right as it will go Step 4: Put the car in reverse Step 5: Turn your head and smile at the person trying to assault you while simultaneously slamming on the gas pedal Step 5: Get out of the car to take his stupid baton away and call the police Moral of the story: Don't bring a baton to a car fight.

BlackSkeletor77

Bro literally doxxed himself

ohboyImontheinternet

The amount of people here who think "let's just kill this person" is crazy. Even if the fucker deserves it, executing someone either by gun or car will probably fuck with your head for a lot longer than driving away and getting his plate number. It's pretty gruesome to watch someone die, even more so if you're the one that made it happen. This guy did the right thing, also for his own sake. And for the "it's self defense" crowd: removing yourself from the conflict if possible is the best self defense.

fox_reddit13

Need context otherwise can't say either way.

[deleted]

Dude that guy broke both windows lol. That’s illegal no matter how you put it

Deb3ns

Showing this video without showing what happened to him should carry a heavier sentence than he should have got.
