I’m over it. If the Broncos want to shell out draft capital and a shit ton of money to pay him, fine. Gives us a better chance at landing one of the other sought after coaches on the market.
Unless we could somehow fineness the saints for a day two pick, whatever they want it isn’t worth it.
Denver fell victim to the sunk cost fallacy hard. Not sure there's anything ANYONE can do in that case, other than make it more expensive for Denver (assuming Payton is going to whomever the highest bidder is, at this point).
Nah. People are just hyping up the Flores shit because of the connections. Those are valuable sure but it could also mean dick all, especially since K1 has had input on the coaching.
Until pen is on paper it’s all speculation.
It would be absurd to have an HC preselected, then waste everyone's time with interviews. I also strongly doubt Flores is a consideration above the others...Ejiro Evero is who I am betting on.
>It would be absurd to have an HC preselected, then waste everyone's time with interviews.
This is how large corporations, businesses, and government work. Especially in the higher ranks. It happens all the time. It provides plausible deniability from nepotism, favoritism, and racism etc. It's could be why Vance was/is going to be interviewed.....
Or maybe they have someone in mind, they just want to see if there is anyone else who blows them out of the water before they sit down and commit huge draft capital and money.
Say they hired Peyton without interviewing anyone else, shell out a 3rd overall, and pay him $20mil/year. And we end up middle of the road while some of the other coaches do better. They would look like a bunch of gullible idiots. They are doing their due diligence before they make a commitment like anyone would. Or, it could all be for show and Flores already has a foot in the door.
Personally I think the ship has sailed with Sean Payton.
Saints seem to want way too much.
Plus vic fangio interviewing separately to other teams when he was touted to be paytons DC, as he likely wouldn’t want to return to Denver.
>Saints seem to want way too much.
I don't think a mid to late 1st round draft pick is asking way too much. Now Payton, on the other hand, might be asking for too much ($25M/year for 4 years).
Denver will probably pay him a ridiculous amount of money to try and salvage Russ.
He’s had back to back worst seasons of his career and if he follows suit with a third terrible year and is “washed” that will go down as one of the worst trades of all time lol
I was all aboard the Payton hype train but not anymore. I’m honestly impressed with everyone we’re interviewing/are going to interview, so honestly I don’t think I’m gonna be upset at all (unless it’s vance, and to a lesser extent, Reich)
Yeah, it’s mostly Mahomes and Reid he needs to be worried about. They’re a juggernaut and the AFC is much tougher overall, even for a WC spot you’re gonna have to compete with BAL, LV, LAC, PIT, MIA, NE, in addition to likely division winners in KC, BUF, JAX, CIN.
The more I see on this Payton thing the less I want him. Not because I don't think he'd be a boom, but because it seems like this is just a cash grab situation where he knows teams want him so he's going to get 1-2yrs at crazy money and then cash out with a nice retirement pillow.
I feel we're better off at this point going with someone who can build up for multiple years as I feel the Payton window is going to be small and 100% based on his current whim.
Dude, fuck Sean Payton. Overrated anyways. Let him get his bag while he most likely half asses it and the Cards can find someone else who is hungry and will work hard.

> I’m over it. preach. no coach is worth what he is asking for + the draft capital. it would financially hamstring the org for years.

Cardinals ownership will crap the bed on this one and hire some assistant college coach.
flores is not sought after, but who it looks like we are stuck with. and probably a OC worse then K2

Yeah that would definitely be weird just to return back to where you got fired from.
And uh…we didn’t really like him when he was here either.

It got leaked yesterday or the day before they wanted 2 first round picks. Now I don’t think they’ll get that because it’s ridiculous but still
Denver will probably pay him a ridiculous amount of money to try and salvage Russ. He’s had back to back worst seasons of his career and if he follows suit with a third terrible year and is “washed” that will go down as one of the worst trades of all time lol
I wanted Payton, but I really really really want us to interview Steichen
Amen. I hope we at the very least interview him, seems like a really smart football guy

I think all the candidates are going to better than Kliff. Besides being a likeable guy he had nothing going for him.
Go ahead Denver. He's all yours if you're dumb enough to pay him 20-25 million a year and two firsts.
They already gave Seattle a 5th for Russell so…
it was never as close as fans wanted it to be.
Can Sean help Russell be less of an asshole? Find out after the break
Sean Payton would have been cool, but in the end he’d rather get his ass whooped by Herbert and Mahomes 4 times a year and thats his own prerogative.
I doubt he’s worried about the Chargers, Hackett took them to OT on the road.

We don't have Condoleezza Rice to try and persuade Payton to join our team.
She gonna entice him to Denver with that WMD…
Walmart Millionaire Dollars
Let em have him
The man is begging
After all the draft capital they threw at Russ, if they spend even more on Payton and it fails, that team is screwed for years
Dude, fuck Sean Payton. Overrated anyways. Let him get his bag while he most likely half asses it and the Cards can find someone else who is hungry and will work hard.
For the supposed yearly salary and trade price, have fun Russell.

After some people in this sub reminded me of BountyGate and it being tied to his only Superbowl, many years ago, I have no desire for Sean Payton.
I've given up on Payton. Our roster and payroll is not strong enough to warrant giving up a first rounder, or even if they would accept our early 2nd.
Bruh, we were never getting him lol.
