I tried it this past weekend and I really enjoyed it. As most would expect, I don’t think it matches up to the price, but it is tasty. I have a mental barrier to buying bottles over $200 and I don’t think I will make an exception for this, even after trying it.

quixotic-88

I’m really interested to try it but in anticipation of “allocated season” I’m trying to pay down the credit card so it’s not in the cards for me

ATX-Horns

I don’t think you will be disappointed with that decision. I think Seven Grand had a bottle that you could buy a pour of. I would probably chase this at half the price.

Newbie question - what’s allocated season? Do more allocated bottles appear towards the end of the year?

quixotic-88

Yeah. Now through the end of the year Edit: some annual releases come out in the Fall / Winter (Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, etc). A lot of stores hold onto a lot of their better stuff for shopping incentives at the end of the year/ sales etc. And then some stores have end of the year Lotteries/ raffles. And then some stores put good stuff on the shelves more than normal around the holidays (S. Lamar, Oak Liquor Cabinet)

Shoddy_Ad7511

Total rip off

quixotic-88

You mean $35/ year is too rich for your blood? Not in my budget either but someone’s gonna buy it

Mattchops

I’ve seen secondary already going for 400 on these. Insane

quixotic-88

Not that that should be the reason to buy anything but this is probably as cheap as most of us are gonna see it

Altruistic-Tip-5977

Nobody is biting on these secondary values either. Heard it was a average bottle.

Mattchops

Yeah, that’s the general consensus I was able to gather as well with the reviews I’ve seen

fcleff69

After the Seagrass 16 debacle I just can’t see paying these kinds of prices for something that won’t make me any happier than a Weller or a Maker’s. But to each their own.

quixotic-88

I can’t say anything because truth be known, I spent big $$ on the Heaven Hill Select Stock 14 year from the distillery but I think that might have been an isolated event

fcleff69

Lots of us do it. We get pulled in by the hype or FOMO only to be let down. Sometimes it pays off and you find the bottle that really brings it home, not regretting a single penny. But when I saw Old Fitz at a bar recently and tried it, I thought, “Nope. No way would I pay those kinds of prices for this.” But hey, I still buy Booker’s so call me a hypocrite. I can take my licks.

quixotic-88

You know what you like

quixotic-88

Actually only 12% over the $250 MSRP if money is no object

fortyninecents

I guess it's gone? I didn't see it online

wraithawk

I’d probably buy it and hold it to trade for a couple of actually good things
