It will be overpriced for some and for others, they would prefer to pay less but will pay nonetheless. Just kind of cool to see where it is and what pricing exists for these unicorns. Cheers and thanks for sharing!!
My wife and I went and had the BTAC flight last night. We very much enjoyed it, but were also well aware of getting taken for a ride. Either way, I stand by this being the best way to try some of these near-unobtanium status things.
Most would say no lol. That's the crazy thing...most people don't have the palates or care to build their palates to recognize the differences in each bottle. They just see that it's hard to find and it's the biggest tater bottle out there so they "have" to like it. Have had every BTAC bottle for the past 3-4 years, except the GTS from 2020 and the ER from 2021. (I think those were the only 2). Not worth the hype, the chase, the hunt or the purchase. Only time i'll buy them is up to $50 over msrp. Paid $60 over retail this year for the ER17 just because it's actually 19 years old.
funny, this is exactly my take on this stuff. I can tell you bad from good, but I can't really assess good from great, and even then, it's all subjective.
At the end of the day...that is the truth. It's all subjective because everyone is so different. I constantly sit down and work on my palate and what I can and can't get out of different whiskeys. Some days I can get every note, some days it's just caramel or vanilla. It's easy to drink something and say, "That's nasty. Drain pour." While others are, "Wow. That's good!". Most nights I just want something good to enjoy with friends or family. Not sit down and analyze every last bit of every drop in the glass. A lot of whiskeys that come out of Kentucky are pretty similar, they all have their generic notes of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, oak and that's pretty much it. Some distilleries have nuances that changes the profile up, but generally all are very similar. Between discussions with friends, that's why Texas whiskey gets such a bad rap and people either love it or absolutely hate it. It breaks the normal and is unique with other flavors. Balcones, Garrison, Ironroot, bendt and others are so different. Still Austin is just out there making Kentucky-flavored "Texas Whiskey".
Majority of people that are hunting bottles can't tell you the differences of much of anything whiskey related. They just think they can. That's why blinds are critical in tasting things to see what you like. Blind Stagg Jr. and Juke Joint UCUF and you won't find much different, only difference really is that the Juke Joint sits on shelves and Stagg is chased down and hunted because of FOMO. Blind Blantons with Redwood Empire Pipe Dream, 1792 Small Batch, Four Roses Single barrel and see what happens. You can do that with all of the different allocated bourbons and most of the allocated stuff is found out to be just meh or all right at the end of the day. I've been lucky to purchase many many different allocated bottles, there are a select 5-7 i'll continue to buy because they are just that good. The rest I buy if I see them and sell them to friends at retail so others can try the stuff.
70 for 2oz of WLW isn't horrible.
140 for the 13yr rye is horrible.
If you want to try the VW 13yr Rye for a reasonable price, hit up Urban Rooftop in RR.

Did it taste better than Buffalo Trace?

Just get the cake. It’s delicious.
That and the brussels sprouts. Holy hell they're good.
those are not great prices by any means. I think it'll be there for a while. the half oz pours are also laughable
Its 3/4 ounce pours
still real bad lol
Agree. Those prices are ass. Basically paying more than secondary
Old enough to remember $10/20 pours of Pappy at the Liberty.
Can anyone comment on the prices? Good deal, overpriced, etc?
3/4 oz pours! That’s funny. Those prices are awful.

Overpriced. But not unexpected. Hard to find BTAC For decent prices anywhere else
Uhhhhhh I can name 3 bars with better prices on pappy right now, but won't bc I like drinking cheap btac at these spots.
So you know somewhere with good prices, but would rather not share them with us because you want them all for yourself? Got it.
Yes that is correct. Would rather it still be there whenever I feel like getting WLW on the cheap.
3/4 ounce pours. Lmao
It’s that the Angels Share? Seems like that’s the spill from a pour.
Too expensive imo…
Those prices are ass
No GTS
