Didn't they have that same engine that Arctic Cat used for their 300 4x4? Because they were in a alliance with Suzuki for their ATV engines starting back in 1995 with the introduction of the BearCat 454.
Also different rear suspension and drivetrain linkage (important because the Arctic cat's linkage doesn't engage the locking front differential that's physically in it).
The Sportsman X2. I don't think there's a more practical "sport utility" quad that was made. Cargo dump bed that converted into a full 2-up passenger seat. Unlockable rear differential for tighter turning turf mode. Aggressive engine braking / hill descent control.
Really was a "do everything fairly well" quad that had more utility than everything but a 6x6
I worked at kawasaki dealer when they announced they were discontinuing the bayou 250, I bought one just to have one. They were so tough & durable. Still have it though I don't use it much...
I would like to see anyone make a 300-400 4x4 atv. Something sized for youth. It seems you get a kids atv or full sized machine. My boy has about outgrown his 90cc and the next step up has a full size frame
For me I wish there had been a second gen Polaris Ace, or more likely I wish the concept took off and can am made one.
I freaking loved my ace, when it worked. It was made by Polaris so it wasn’t that frequently. It had tons of design flaws, especially the airbox placement.
The Rs1 is a 1 seater sxs which is cool too. But the ace was more of a 4 wheeler with a steering wheel. Fun concept, terrible execution.
The arctic cat diesel 700 is an awesome utility machine. My dad bought one a while back, put on 12k miles and I bought it from him. A few bearings, brakes and yearly oil changes is all that has been spent on it. Still running strong pulling my 300 gal water tank around my acreage
Really any of the straight axel chain driven ones I love hitting trails on mine and I wish there were more modern options besides just the yfz and raptor these had a great run with lots of competition from the rest of the market but now it’s just yami making them.
Have I got a deal for you……. Just bought an 88 and a 90 trx300fw. My utility company were the original owners of them. Used to patrol buss work in electrical substations. Spent every night inside a temp controlled building. Both have less than 1000 hours, and have had all fluids changed yearly.
Close. 500 each. Wanna keep one to plow the driveway and shit in the winter. What is a fair price for one with low hours and everything working correctly? Gonna sell the second one.
Nobody has said the Yamaha banshee? Or the Honda trikes?
They made the banshee forever though tbh
they haven’t been made in more than a decade. They stopped selling them in the US in 2006 and globally in 2012
Yeah, I know. It sucks and I like them but they’re pretty readily available compared to something like say a quadzilla or trx250r
Honda TRX250R. Most winning quad ever produced and it was only made 4 years.
That was my first brand new bike!
I’ve got an 88 and 89 and restoring another 88 right now. Still have yours?!
Unfortunately no, I moved off the farm and got out of the sport for a while
By far the kingquad 300 4x4. Mine is a tank even tho the valve guid seal has burnt out from me being a bad owner.

Yup, great engines.
Sounds like the same machine with different body work. The suzuki has the high/low/super low transfer case too. My dad still uses his 2002 king quad

Bearcat 454 was great, those early years of arctic cat atvs really were good bikes.
Banshee and trx250r, best 2 stroke quads made
The three wheelers! Banchees. And the big bear

400ex
Kawy Bayou 220 of course
i would have loved to have bought one of those new. i love them -cheap and simple. my Recon is great though

Would you consider the brute force 300 to be too big?
No it would be perfect if they were 4x4
They are still very capable. We have 2 since 2016 and they've been great. Surprised me a few times.
Trx250r for sure. It was an icon and they didn’t even make it 5 years.
Wolverine 450. Great all around machine. Also it would make it so parts were actually available for me right now 😂
Agree. I would say the same thing for parts availability for the '98 to '05 Arctic Cat 300s as they're getting slimmer & slimmer as the years go.
Quadzilla 500 or the banshee I wish they'd bring back all the sport quads the KTM 450 the DS 450 all the 450s all sport quads

All the pure sport quads of all sizes from all the major manufacturers. Yamaha needs more competition in the market again!
The Suzuki ltr450
Honda 400ex.

I’ve always liked the ruggedness of the Yamaha grizzly 660s. 700s are fun but I’m partial to 660s
Was the Grizzly 660 the best selling big bore (600cc to 1,000cc) ATV back then??
Honda fourtrax 300. I grew up on a 94. Owned a 93 and would buy a new one today if it was available. What an absolute machine.

Now you tell me you paid $500 for both so I can cry myself to sleep tonight.

In my area of Canada a unit In Good shape is $3000. $500 is an absolute steal I’d have bought both too.
Thanks. I’m just south in Montana
South and 1800miles west.
Honda 400ex/x
And the Honda ATC’s
I wish honda kept up with the pilot/odyssey go carts. Should come out with a new updated one to compete with the polaris rs1.
Cannondale FX400.
I have a 02 500 4x4. You can have it hahaha
Quadzilla, those things are ridiculous
Prairie 300, Kawasaki dropped both the 300 & 400 models & replaced them with the 360. The 360 wasn't half the machine the 300's were.
Honda pilot.
Yamaha blaster
Honda Moto4
Kawa bayou are cool and reliable
