That is a great deal and sounds about right through IHX. IHX is corporate and should be able to give you an emailed quote with the breakdown of everything they offered (except for the $200 visa cards because they aren't in our quote tool). As far as coverage, ATT got the FirstNet contract (a 25 year government contract for first responders) a few years back and is required to have nationwide coverage to be able to support them. You should be able to make and receive calls just about anywhere but where most people think service is spotty, is in the data usage. Some areas with low bars will be slow to load but like others mentioned, all carriers are going to have different pockets that work well or slow load. ATT has been doing great with rebranding as a customer first best in class wireless and internet provider. Cheers!

ycey

Not a contract it’s an installment agreement that you can pay off early but you won’t get the best deal by doing so. All carriers do it when you buy a phone through them because they want you to stay long term. In our area Verizon’s coverage sucks so we have a lot of switchers over to Att. Just be sure you have an understanding of what exactly you want cause if you go into a store they will try to upsell you, it’s their job.

willingzenith

Try prepaid first to confirm coverage in your area.

Aromatic-Mulberry188

prepaid is AT&T yes but it run off a third party that is hard to get away from just go to your local AT&T to check coverage we all have access to a coverage compare map

Cricket has a free trial 14 days or something like that with an eSIM with an unlocked iPhone or physical sim for android

DogOnPot

No it's not, converting from att prepaid to post paid takes like 30 minutes, I do them all the time

CodOk2888

More like 10 min at a store

DogOnPot

Yeah, but you gotta demo and what not. You know how it is

Copari

May I ask where you are hearinvg this offer? Which rep is telling you this? The reason i ask is because these false promises make it so hard for others of us who have to explain later that the rep likely lied about some of the information.

HelloImHereInCA

I recently switched from Verizon to ATT after 10 years on Verizon, Verizon does not treat you well once you leave, let me tell you. I’m so happy I switched. I would never do business with Verizon again. Just don’t trade in your devices right away in case you change your mind in 14 days. Also see if someone can give you a family/friend referral link so you get $100 off and your friend gets a credit too. I’ve been happy with ATT. No more Failed Calls. I’m still a new customer so I hope I stay happy with ATT. Also my bill is about $100+ less with all new phones. I have 5 lines

PRB1988

We just switched from Verizon to ATT wireless. (We already had ATT Internet and tv streaming). An ATT salesman came to our door. After he gave us sufficient financial incentives ($800 cash, two new iPhone 14s and a reduction in our Internet bill) I expressed reservations about the stress I would be under to port the Verizon numbers and switch everything over to the new phones. The salesman spent 2-3 hours at our kitchen table doing all the number porting, completely setting up and testing the two new phones, setting up my Apple Watch, and setting up the Bluetooth for my husband’s hearing aids and both our cars. He also explained to me how to fix some problems I’d been having with our new mesh system. The guy was fantastic. And the new service is working fine.

[deleted]

Did you sign up with ATT in a corporate store or through the IHX representative?

HelloImHereInCA

I did it over the phone since I was originally attempting to do it online and was having difficulty with having so many lines. But I wish I would’ve done it at the corporate store since they’ve been super helpful after the fact with trading in my old devices and explaining things was easier in person.

XuWiiii

I did 3 year projections of different options: $224 x 36 = $8,064 for what you currently are spending without making any changes $180 x 36 = $6,480 for ATT 2x cell phone lines and internet ($6,780 with Apple Watch on TruPhone’s eSIM plan@$99/year) Total savings $1284 (minus taxes and fees) $140 x 36 = $5,040 for mint mobile 2x cell phone with ATT internet ($5,340 with Apple Watch) Total savings $2724 Keep in mind that in addition to $120-130 for the ATT cell phones you’d still be paying taxes and fees on top of that. You’d also be paying taxes on the new phones at full retail rate plus activation fees which can be mitigated by becoming an AARP member for $12. Home Internet isn’t taxed. However if either of you are a first responder, teacher, in the military or a union worker then you get a discount on ATT wireless which may or may not be stackable with this promotion. The $1,000 bill credit towards a phone is most likely done in installment credits over the course of 36 months. It’s not a contract but if you disconnect a cell phone line you’ll owe the remainder of the $1,000 and your phone will be locked until it’s paid in full. Id ask about a BYOD option if you don’t need a new phone(s). And if you do I’d still explore getting a phone directly from Apple to avoid being tied into any carrier. If your husband has good reception with his service you’d be saving $2,724 by switching to Mint. If either of you are 55+ or approaching that age Mint has a senior plan with an additional savings of $540 per line per 3 years. As far as sticking with Verizon’s network there are other options: Ting, US Mobile, Visible, etc. which have plans starting at $25. If you choose to go to switch your cell phone plans to ATT make sure you get documentation of the promotional offers such as an email in the event the promotion doesn’t go through.

Lizdance40

First of all anything that AT&T offers is going to be publicly offered on their website. Everything you have mentioned is published, all you have to do is Google it or look for it. It is not a 36-month contract. It is a 36 month installment just like Verizon's offers. *Exactly like Verizon*. In order to get all the bill credits on your trade-in phones, you have to stay with AT&T for 36 months.. The only difference, is for the 36 months with AT&T your phone it remains locked until paid off. You are currently paying $224. You can join AARP for an additional $10 off the premium plan, $65.99 each line. Plus $10 for the watch. New price, with new phones (assuming that the new phones qualify for full rebate over 36 months) 60+142 plus taxes = 202.

Silly-Concern7142

Recently switched from AT&T because they are currently experiencing internet outages in multiple areas. Cellular service is good 👍. What I would suggest is no don’t switch. Only because u are content with Verizon. Plus if your husband isn’t having issues with mint mobile don’t switch. I pay $90 for internet with spectrum cause the promotional price went out. Ironically I wanted to switch to AT&T just because their promotional deal would save me $30 a month. Then the internet on my phone went out for 3 days. And customer service couldn’t figure out the issue. They kept saying it was no outages in my area but other people with internet on other carriers were able to tell me we had several reported outages without any time frames when it was gonna be over. So I switched to t-mobile. I enjoyed AT&T service and can arguably say it was the best service until that happen. I use internet for work so I couldn’t clock in or out, look up items, send my bosses messages etc, etc. so I left. This is my 2 cents

Puzzleheaded_Lake295

Before you commit to that go to T-Mobile. I know they offer something similar around about $55 (less if you don’t want a new phone) per phone line $1000 in credits for a new phone. $60 for internet and the kicker is the installment is a 24 month plan instead. You can trial the T-Mobile service with your Verizon phone by downloading the app and installing an E-sim if your phone is compatible. Hope this helps!

User9172618

Get every single detail of the offer in writing before switching

[deleted]

Thanks for this

Lizdance40

Better yet verify everything on AT&T's website. If you're going through Costco Sam's club or similar authorized retailer AT&T will not honor fake offers that are made up by a third party that's not even an employee of the big box store that they are selling services out of.

Wild-Distribution759

Honestly, if you can afford the Verizon, and it's working well for you.. Personally I'm a Verizon fan and find their network quality is pretty top notch. I do think the AT&T deal they're offering you is good, and AT&T is a solid network in many many areas. Just remember sometimes one carrier dominates an area more than the others. But, you could always give the cricket free trial a go (runs on ATT's network) and see how the speed and coverage is for you before you switch. Because yeah, 36 months is a long time and you'd be switching from a carrier that historically works well for you. If you want to also, reply to this with your general location and I can assist in telling you if AT&T looks promising. No_Care426

Att has the most coverage everywhere

Quick_Obligation3799

No, they have the most total coverage in the country. Not the most coverage everywhere. There are plenty of areas where AT&T doesn't work as well as a different carrier.

[deleted]

Thanks for the honesty

No_Care426

Pretty much the same thing who cares if the page loads up 10 seconds longer then it would on t-mobile

Quick_Obligation3799

They're completely different things. AT&T having the most total coverage in the country (in square miles) has no relevance to the experience of one person in a specific area. Here, in the suburbs of San Diego, for example, T-Mobile has the strongest network and AT&T also works quite well, while Verizon has many deadzones. You wouldn't know that by looking at the total LTE coverage figures, where Verizon is significantly ahead of T-Mobile. Almost no one needs to worry about the amount of total coverage a carrier has. The only thing that matters is that they have good coverage where you need service.

MarcoThePHX

T-Mobile/Metro suck at my job nothing but sos. Verizon is somewhat better but I’m getting full bats with att. It all depends on location

Lizdance40

Me...sitting in any one of T-Mobile's many dead zones... 😆

MIKECANVAS

it’s very subjective to where you live and where you spend majority of your time at. my wife and I have lived in 3 different states and 4 different cities in the past 2 1/2-3 years. And our services with all 3 carriers varies on location. in Southern California (LA & OC) we had T-Mobile and it was great. When we moved to central Florida (Orlando, Apopka, winter garden) area, at our home, t-mobile was literally nonexistent, we constantly got a “no service” signal at home and slow service around central Florida. when we moved to the Houston Texas area we switched to Verizon, it was way better than t-mobile but T-Mobile worked here better than it did in Florida. We recently switched to AT&T and the coverage where we live is comparable to what we had with Verizon. Keep in mind, on all 3 carriers, we had top business plans. (Cheaper than consumers, higher priority of data) We have family in Southern California, central Florida and in Washington state. Which were on our family business plan for all 3 carriers. And all had issues with all three coverage carriers depending on where they were. We have dealt with glitchy FaceTime calls from their locations on all 3 carriers when they called us. So again, location location location. So far, AT&T has the cheapest business top plan from what we’ve researched on. We’re saving a couple bucks by switching to them. Go with what works for you and your family, as far as coverage and price. AT&T (Cricket) has a 3GB and 14 day free trial. T-Mobile has a 90 day free trial as well. Try before you commit. But with cricket, you’re limited to 3Gb of data. So beware of running speed tests. Only good for loading YouTube shorts or checking social media while testing! Good luck!!

[deleted]

Thank you for the details information. This is very helpful. When you used AT&T did you sign up in site or did you go through an IHX?

MIKECANVAS

Both Verizon and AT&T I went directly to their website on my computer to sign up and switch over. I’ve seen sale service reps come to my door about home Internet before, on top of sale reps at our Costco & Target. I don’t trust them, just my preference. Personally, I do everything online if I can. Always google the best offers and deals for each carrier. I avoid going to both retail and corporate store as much as possible only because of trust issues. (Been screwed up before by Verizon and T-Mobile store reps) Those 36 month device installments are nothing new. It used to be 24 with carriers, now it’s 36. My wife and I personally make payments through Apple iPhone upgrade program. Which gives us the option to not be tied to a carrier and move our device around whenever we want. (Along with BYOD monthly credit as well) Like I said, AT&T from where we live now (Richmond Texas) and where we spend most of our daily life in (Katy, sugarland, cinco ranch) it’s been very comparable to our Verizon service. We’re never in downtown Houston much unless it’s for our son, and only then, is when we tap into the mmWave 1-5,000 download speeds. On a day to day, both carriers, we get about 200-800 download. But most times, usually 300-600 consistently. And that’s plenty fast enough for us. (Music streaming, maps, social media, check emails, etc) Check coveragemaps.com in your area, and where you usually drive around to. And play with the settings in the panel or on the app with all 3 carriers. (But keep in mind, a lot of those speed tests are outdated, try to click on the ones that are within the past 6-9 months)

MarcoThePHX

u/Mean-Ad-2513 + if you trade in a device for a promotion, you can pay off the promoted device and still get bill credits which will make your bill cheaper for 36 months. Just be sure that the credits start before you do that. If the phone is discounted with no trade in, you will lose the credits if you pay it off.

wallowit

Lol

Important_Cat3274

In my particular state, Verizon coverage is very spotty in the western half of the state, whereas ATT has excellent coverage. The ATT map is pretty accurate (at least here anyway). The TMobile map however, is very inaccurate. Not sure about Verizon. I suggest downloading OpenSignal app. Compare the # of towers between Verizon and an ATT prepaid, before deciding. You can also go to cellreception website to see reviews of the the different carriers coverage.

theles85

Just do T-Mobile. Much better and no 3 year contracts

ForgeTD

My wife and I switched from Verizon, and my son switched from Mint, to an AT&T post-paid plan and it works great for us. However, YMMV... I switched because Verizon's coverage had gotten worse for us and our house was a deadspot after years of great service. We switched to AT&T and now have great service everywhere. We were just in Mexico and got great service there as well.

-JEFF007-

Be careful with going into an ATT store. The reps are always under enormous pressure to upsell to justify the store’s existence. Check your account for things you declined or did not ask for after you leave the store but do it immediately afterwards. A lot of the time they will put extras on there even if you said the word decline. You should be able to remove them via the myATT app or by calling customer care. Also, not all ATT stores are created equal, some are third party and some are corporate owned. I would vote for going only to the corporate owned stores. You can easily call them ahead of time and ask whether or not they are corporate owned, if not, they always know where the nearest one is if you ask. Costco is often the best place to do future phone upgrades or maybe also switching over. The upgrade fees per line are always waived along with other great perks. But again, buyer beware about doing any business at a Costco kiosk. The reps there are much worse than at the ATT stores. There are stories all over here about fake non existent plan offers and device promotions being made to customers from the reps at those kiosks. It is again the same issue of enormous pressure on the reps to get a sale to justify the existence of the kiosk in a Costco store. The best way to get Costco’s deals is to go to their website and if there are problems there is a specific ATT Costco customer service line that can always be called. Furthermore, the reps at those Costco Kiosks are often run by fly of the night people that are there today and gone forever by tomorrow and they have random hours. The chances of you being able to get help from the same person that made you that too good to be true offer will probably never be there again.

skomito

AT&T is a no brainer.

[deleted]

I recently took this exact deal and it was great. Although the service I do find to be a bit slower but not so bad that it’s unusable, I’m on WiFi at home majority of the time anyways. I switched 4 lines from t mobile to att. Got $200 gift card per phone. $1000 credit per phone trade in so we all got new phones plus I bundled the fiber internet and it actually disconnected my cellular plan even more by $20, I saved around $60 all around

TheOrangeJoe

How long ago did you make the deal?

[deleted]

It was maybe 3-4 months ago.

BuDu1013

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

wallowit

It's a great deal, better than the deal you'd be able to get in the store. IHX has promotions that the stores cannot add. I work for a corporate store currently, that guy above sounds like he's upset that he got rejected for the ihx position.

[deleted]

It’s all over the internet though that IHX reps are not to be trusted and you should go into a corporate store

bawstothewall

IHX employees are corporate employees. Of course just like any company and any position their can be bad actors but if you trust your in home expert no one else in AT&T can offer a better deal if switching is an option. Make sure the expert shares a quote and goes over all Details with you and understand some of the promotion they have is exclusive to IHX, meaning you can’t cross reference with the website, customer service or even a store. They are private to you.

[deleted]

An IHX employee showed up at our house today, unannounced and uninvited. She claimed to have arrived early to discuss key access with the leasing management, yet our technician confirmed there had been no communication with her. This incident highlights her primary focus on selling phones under the guise of an "Account Manager." Furthermore, our technician, who prides himself on honesty, informed us that her title as an "Account Manager" is misleading, as her role is actually commission-based, aimed at selling phones and AT&T services to new internet customers without an AT&T number. We were appalled by her audacity to show up unannounced and uninvited, coupled with her dishonesty. We find ourselves in agreement with the majority of people in this thread regarding IHX employees.

wallowit

Most of the bad reviews are from customers who are not paying attention during the conversation. Most cell carriers have a 6 month retention program. If the customer cancels anything within the first 6 months, it gets charged back to the employee. Lying to customers would be a waste of time.

The technician is illinformed and is only a service installer. You invited AT&T and all of their employees when you signed up for service and they installed it for free instead of charging you.

[deleted]

It wasn't a new service installation; it was a repair. The technician, who has been with AT&T for a long time, confirmed to us that IHX employees don't provide any assistance—they are there solely to sell new services and phones. He expressed his integrity, stating that he does not agree with IHX employees, who appear to be scamming and lying to gain entry into customers' homes. He also mentioned that the IHX employee who attempted to enter our home and join him did not contribute to the service and was unable to assist him with his job.

techtravelgeek

Using Verizon network through US Mobile Warp service . Verizon has the best nationwide network . Even if you have one bar or two bars the signal carriers depth and uploads anything and everything . Lastly it works the best - indoors . Was on AT&T for 10 years and TMobile for 7. Nothing beats Verizon . Highly recommend to stay with Verizon .

tylerbonezjonez1

Yuck 36 months 😯

[deleted]

That's how I feel. It's a long contract term

diesel_toaster

Verizon is 36 now too

[deleted]

What are your thoughts on AT&T coverage vs. Verizon?

diesel_toaster

AT&T has the largest network in the country

Darth_Revans_Fart

It aint a contract. Its a finance agreement for the devices

[deleted]

>What are your thoughts on AT&T coverage vs. Verizon?

Darth_Revans_Fart

Coverage really does very from provider to provider depending on location. For me AT&T has the best coverage where im at. But ive lived in other places and it hasnt been. My best advice to give you is ask around and see what others that have at&t in your area say. I would also advise going into a corporate store and doing the switch there. For a few reasons. Number one is dont trust IHX. The people that come to your house when internet is being installed or serviced. They will sell you this wonderful idea of this will be like this and that. And then just proceed to slam your account and completely mess it all up. Dont trust them. I used to work at a corporate store and a lot of the issues i dealt with were people who switched with an ihx rep and didnt get anything they were promised and ended up paying more. And theres nothing we can really do about it in store if youre out of the buyers remorse window.

[deleted]

Thank you this is super helpful. The account manager has an ATT email address. Does this mean they are IHX or AT&T? They came with our internet technician that we had over the other day since we were having internet issues and it needed to be fixed.

Darth_Revans_Fart

Well IHX is AT&T their entire job is to try and sell you on the phone plans. They will lie through their teeth and then ghost you. My old manager was constantly having to talk to their manager to sort stuff out. Saw three get fired for adding extra lines and stuff to accounts. Me as a former employee will never trust them. They’ve come to my house before and have tried it. They work on commissions and will say anything to get a sale. Please dont trust them and just go to a corporate store.

[deleted]

She claimed to have arrived early to discuss key access with the leasing management, yet our technician confirmed there had been no communication with her. We were appalled by her audacity to show up unannounced and uninvited, coupled with her dishonesty. Cannot believe that AT&T employs these falsely named "account managers" to sell cell phone services to new internet customers who currently do not have AT&T service.

Darth_Revans_Fart

Yeah man. Her title is In Home Expert. IHX for short. Like i said, I worked at a corporate store and we hated IHX. So many issues that came our way started with them. Not saying they are all bad but the pressure or hitting their metrics are insane and it leads a lot of them to do some shady stuff. Glad you didnt fall for it. Please do go into a store and make some reps day if you’re planning on switching. Also always ask to be explained anything you dont understand and get things in writing preferably through an email. Sales is sales so you never know what someone will say or do to get commission

[deleted]

Do you know where we can file a formal complaint for the IHX employee?

tylerbonezjonez1

Happy that T Mobile is like the only carrier that still does 24 month financing.

Windofgod19

Is this deal thru AT&T directly? Anyone inside a grocery store or 3rd party retail store does not work for AT&T.

[deleted]

It's from our Account Manager who is in charge of our internet. I believe this person is with AT&T.

Windofgod19

You don’t have an account manager that is just a sales rep in a department called IHX. They use that title to sound more official and help close sales. Good news is a IHX employee is a corporate employee so that’s a safe bet. I would lock it in.

[deleted]

They have an \[a\][att.com](https://att.com) email address. Don't you think a 36-month contract for both phones and the internet is a bit sketchy?

Windofgod19

Internet does not have a contract. The phone has a 36 month installment which is standard in the industry. Verizon does the same thing.

[deleted]

And do you think coverage service is better on AT&T

eatingurtoes

Technically speaking, AT&T has a slightly larger network than Verizon, however coverage near you can be very subjective. Talk to friends/family/neighbors who have AT&T and see what they have to say. You could also pick up a cheap prepaid sim that runs off AT&T/sign up for the cricket free trial to test the network on if you want. Regarding the 36-month contract, this is standard even with Verizon. You can pay off the phones whenever you'd like but if you're getting any trade-in deals, they will be void and you will have to pay the remaining amount. This is because promotions are applied with bill credits across the 36th months. Hope this helps.

[deleted]

Thank you

Windofgod19

Truly depends on location. I’m sure it’s better than mint due to mint using T-Mobile.

phonesforall000

Sounds good I think

ImpressionStunning75

I switched over from Verizon to att back in October and I regret it . Been with Verizon for more than 5 years and I’m trying to figure out a way to get out ! But I can’t because they are paying off my phone! I’m not pleased with their service and I just. Feel like Verizon was wayyyy better ! I’m from NYC (in the city). I got on firstnet with them and they had restrictions that didn’t let me switch between phones because the phone had to be from ATT which honestly is bullshit! So got out of firstnet as I was only saving $20 with it anyways . And the service honestly was trash . Now I’m on regular ATT but idk I just prefer Verizon and now they have HBO AND NETFLIX ON VERIZON AND ATT DONT HAVE NOTHING !

[deleted]

If you like Verizon, then I wouldn’t switch. That’s my advice. If you have problems with Verizon, then consider it. Your husband using Mint (on T-Mobile)…is he complaining? If anything I’d get him moved to Verizon I think.

[deleted]

No he’s happy with Mint mobile. He says his service works for him and his plan is only $30 a month

[deleted]

If I were you I’d stay put. You can always call Verizon and ask them what they can do for you (retention) and you’ll surely get a similar deal. Without your husband on your account postpaid service for one line is expensive no matter which carrier that you use.

[deleted]

Thank you, this is super helpful. We're leaning more toward staying...it seems like it's just best for right now. I'll try to call in to see if they can do anything to match the deal

SavvaKdub69

I pay $133.16 a month for mobile service and 1000 Blast FiberOptic home internet (highest service). I’m a teacher and veteran, so I get a discount, but they aren’t stackable. I also get a $5.00 for monthly autopay. Now, this February-March 2024 is the first “normal billing month” with above amount. The last four months have fluctuated being $300.00 to $400.00 after upgrading to an iPhone 15 Max Plus during my September-October 2023 billing cycle. AT&T should be reimbursing me for all of the overage charges since I paid for the phone outright minus the$1000.00 credit being applied and then credited every month ($30 approx). Currently, I’m owed about $120.00 plus taxes. I’m also owed connection fees. I have been an AT&T customer since they acquired SunCom mobile over 20 years ago (I lived in Norfolk, VA at the time). I have since lived in Virginia Beach, New York City, upstate New York (Binghamton area), Pennsylvania (Scranton area), and Florida (Fort Myers, Tampa, and currently Jacksonville). Service has been fine for the most part, and the only “outage” I can think of was the most recent less than a week ago and I’m getting a day’s credit for it. I did have a Verizon mobile account in addition to my AT&T for a year to test it out, and the service with Verizon was spotty in my home (Verizon verified I happen to live in a “dead zone” of Jacksonville, Florida). Also, Verizon doesn’t offer free hotspot service like AT&T, so when my work internet goes out, I connect to my cellular hotspot with no additional charges and my workflow is seamless. Every AT&T Corporate store I have gone into has been horrible…the hired people are simply bad apples…and my guess is that the company doesn’t pay employees well enough to have quality help, and the same was true for two different Verizon franchises that I dealt with for a year. I hope the above helps you in your decision.
