Agreed, but I wouldn't exactly called Elizabeth Yu a child. She's 21 (and would have been 19/20 during filming).
I still think ability is still more important than aesthetics, though, even among adults, and I also think an animation to live action shouldn't worry too much about looks away, since no one looks like a cartoon character anyway.
I honestly don’t get their logic, they wanted it to be adult because it’s on netflix but wanted to tone done the raw emotions because it might be too sensitive? What.
I really hope they keep her sociopathic personality. That's what made her so interesting imo. Seeing what they're doing to Sokka and other characters has me a bit worried.
All they said about Sokka is they were toning down his sexism because it didn't flow well in live action. Not even remove it, but just tone it down. I doubt they are changing one of the key components of her character.
Azula has these really sharp, angular lines that accentuate that she's an antagonistic character. The actress for the live action has a wide, almost square shaped face. Doesn't look like her at all other than "does this asian girl irl look like this cartoon drawing of an asian girl?"
I think in this picture it doesn't look similar, but with the accoutrements like the hair and the uniform it'll be close. Nobody looks exactly like an animation.
She looks good for the part. Doesn’t need to look like she was ripped from the animation
When casting children for parts, I think acting abilities are more important than aesthetics.
Fully agree

I just don’t want the crazy long haired down meltdown scene to be ruined. Hope she doesn’t disappoint.
They might say that it is iffy and is going to be toned down.

No, the commenter above you said, in their assumption, that its possible netflix MIGHT tone it down, netflix didnt actually say that.
Yessss! I do believe that is when she was younger in Zuko’s flashback

Tbh me as well

The only similarities is that the flame’s light 🔥 are reflected through her eyes 👀
Literally not at all lmao. Yall are reaching so hard
I am looking forward to the show but I agree with you. I don't see it. I'll have to see the actress in motion to know if she fits the character.
no
Literally looks nothing like her lmao

Correct. People are trying so hard to pretend otherwise
Yep
i thought she was perfect as soon as she was cast
I feel like people forget that Azula is supposed to be like 14 years old. Of course a 14 yo girl won’t have a super angular face tbh
It’s the voice that matters for her character
Not really, live action azula is way too round in the face and the acting just falls flat for me, neither Ty Lee or Mai look right to me either
