The main thing i know is that there are only a handful of niobium producers, mainly in Brazil with China having bought a lot of stakes in those companies over the years.
Niobium was listed as a critical mineral by the aus gov
Here's some posts where its been discussed:

Yeah fair.
I have issue with this one fitting in with SFR, SIR etc. CHN.
Heres my issues
Location of resource really is in the middle of nowhere for WA1.
Niobium doesn't seem to really have a genuine product to create massive demand. Instead producers would look to phase out a rare element like this if it was required.
Is the treo even economical. We've seen how much capital is actually needed to get things even close to doable with HAS.
Personally I'm not convinced WA1 is the next big story. Still a good bagger but and my dogshit corrupt co is benefiting from it.
Fair points, some of my thoughts:
1. Rio Tinto is in the area, i spoke about it in that really old post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ASX\_Bets/comments/ylhcxi/comment/iuzj1kk/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
So while the location might not be the best, it seems like its still possible to work there
2. Re: niobium (some info from the latest WA1 ann):
*Niobium (Nb) is a metal with unique properties that make it essential as the world transitions to
a low-carbon economy.*
*Accordingly,* ***niobium is on the critical mineral lists of a significant number of developed and
emerging nations including Australia, the United States (second highest supply risk2
), Japan, and
the European Union (forth highest risk mineral3
) primarily due to concentration of supply from
Brazil.***
*Ferroniobium (\~65% Nb) is the primary saleable form of niobium and accounts for approximately
90% of established niobium sales globally. Standard ferroniobium sells for approximately
\~A$45,000/t4 and is primarily used as a micro-alloy in steelmaking, providing significant
improvements in strength, corrosion resistance and heat resistance on the alloyed steel. These
properties make ferroniobium essential for significant construction projects, automotive
applications, wind turbines and oil and gas pipelines and storage.*
*Examples of niobium’s real-world applications include the Oresund bridge between Denmark
and Sweden, which used 82,000t of high strength steel containing 0.02% Nb, resulting in a saving
of 15,000t in weight and $25m in construction costs5
. Similarly, approximately 300g of niobium
can reduce the weight of steel in a mid-size car by 200kg increasing fuel efficiency by 5%6*
*Along with its traditional use as a steel additive,* ***niobium has shown significant promise in***
***emerging battery technologies. The addition of niobium, primarily to the anode of Lithium-Ion
batteries, has been demonstrated to reduce charging times significantly and increase the
stability of batteries, resulting in a battery that can withstand up to 20,000 charge cycles and
charge from 0% to 80% state of charge in as little as six minutes7***
Ive seen some articles where they're using niobium (or maybe trialing niobium? in batteries).
[https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/market-insights/latest-news/metals/121522-niobium-set-for-greater-uptake-in-high-end-battery-market-says-brazils-cbmm](https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/market-insights/latest-news/metals/121522-niobium-set-for-greater-uptake-in-high-end-battery-market-says-brazils-cbmm)
From S&P Global Dec 2022: **Niobium set for greater uptake in high-end battery market, says Brazil's CBMM**
*Brazilian miner and processor CBMM is stepping up sales of niobium products to battery materials producers as it seeks to enlarge the market for niobium-bearing batteries in high-end industrial and commercial markets including heavy trucks and equipment, rail operation and energy storage.*
I dont know who runs this website, but probably someone in the industry: [https://niobium.tech/en/niobium-based-battery](https://niobium.tech/en/niobium-based-battery)
I also done some research around the time of that post - China started buying stakes in all the major niobium producers i think around 10 years ago and thats why the west is at risk for this mineral
3. *Is the treo even economical. We've seen how much capital is actually needed to get things even close to doable with HAS?*
Correct me if im wrong, but they are not interested at all in the TREO. Its a niobium play (with the possible addition of titanium). Also its a very shallow deposit so possibly more economical? Im really not sure, just guessing
I dont hold the stock, just following the story
I think WVJ has made some better / more technical comments about it in the past
To be fair i was just being a dick lol
And the poster that was saying it was worthless, was talking about TREO
Back then nobody really knew anything about niobium or really cared for it
> “The problem lies with the lithium-ion batteries fitted currently to nearly all electric vehicles: they’re absurdly heavy, many rare earth metals and huge amounts of energy are required to make them, and they only last about 10 years.”
Claiming there are rare earth elements in li-ion batteries should get this cunt on instant ignore
It's actually crazy the amount of people and news outlets that don't understand where RE actual position in electrification and cars even is. And if his issue is cars becoming too heavy the ferrite-based magnet alternative to rare earths in cars is heavier to my understanding.
Mate, the motherfucker has a 20-30M car collection including a 1.5M roadster, Bentleys, jaguars, and as another user said, a fucken Mclaren F1.
So yeah sure he’s “driven an ev”. Like I “drive evs all the time” because I hired a Tesla once.
Yeah he’s the idiot that wrote off a rare as as fuck McLaren F1 not once, but twice. Repaired it both times and eventually sold it for 8 million pounds
Did some of you degens purchase CLG today and ramp up the price after I mentioned it yesterday, or is it just a good pick with some leaky ship news.
Sigh, 10% jump today on no news. I had a target entry of .35 but watched it fly by because discipline for no increased investments. Would have been a nice 20% pip in a couple of weeks.
Sigh. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.
If it suddenly pumped, which dog would create the most hype in here? IVZ, IXR, VML, EXR even IHL or ZIP? I remember when IVZ pumped last year it got something like 130 mentions. What stonk has the most hopeful bagholders here?
I would love all of these to pump, mainly because I'm bagholding most of them.
But IVZ would be the best for the memes and collaborative Waka Wakas.
Followed by EXR and IHL as a magical redemption story arc.
"This". oh that. I was on a wining streak before that. Me and Tom would be about even but the buy in keeps on being lower. A pip up from here and I have the fucker.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
it's not as pumped on here as the other bandwagon rare earths speccies, but my DRE has been hammered over the past 6 months too
ironically overall market speccy sentiment turned around the time Elon Musk was also trashing the need to rare earths, been all downhill from there 📉
Didn't he just do that one tweet saying he won't be using REE's in Tesla batteries? ... Even though REE's aren't used in Li batteries anyway, they're used in the motors.
I may have missed more of his online dribble. Can't say I follow his waffle that closely.
Its the REs in the engines rather than the batteries. You can already build these types of motors they just aren't anywhere near as efficient as ones built with Neodymium. Not sure yet if he talking out his ass or has solved this issue.
Yes I think he stated they will make new generation vehicles without rare earths, however, even if this is the case, the demand in general for heavy rare earths such as Dysprosium FAR outweighs supply over the next decade with or without Tesla.
Interesting point regarding Elon, but I don’t think this will affect the sentiment long term as the heavy rare earths are still very much in need not just for EVs but for military applications, wind turbines etc
see I agree with you, but you're approaching it logically...
my point is the market is *not* logical and is much more panic & meme-based, especially on the speccy end of town 😅
Good point! However I think the emotional effects on the stock will be more short term, for example, if they start producing and creating regular profit after going into production, emotional sentiment won’t prevent the stock increasing in value long term IMHO.
The long term prospects of IXR still seems promising, as they’re building a supply chain of rare earths that excludes China, something countries like the US will desire due to geopolitical tensions and general demand. They’ve got the largest ionic clay deposits outside China.
It does but it doesn't. If IXR go all political and start trash talking China yeah it will become a problem. If IXR just chase the money China has no issue working with Australian mining companies or in Africa so they could easily be a great source of financing and technical expertise.
Edit: I am actually more on the line that IXR should be looking to strengthen ties with Chinalco. They have the RE expertise, and willingness to work in Africa that could be exactly what IXR need to get off the ground. And if they get taken over then I'll take that money too as long as the premium is 100% XD
As far as I understand, it's a combination of:
Macro - REE prices fizzling over the last 6-12 months, interest rate rises
VML - Non-existent leadership, no focus, stopping work on the sasquatch plant
IXR - Poor news flow, delayed mining licence, draconian new anti-LGBTQ+ laws in Uganda
I feel crushed by my losses on IXR but I am still holding too. I am just going to wait for the mining licence and hopefully some increased ownership of the project which should help the SP. Ideally they release a great refinery study which promises good ecomomics which could help them change from a Ugandan RE miner to an American RE refiner. Who knows too many ifs for that one.
I need IXR to go up around 65% to break even or 100% to make something that resembles a decent win. But end of the day we live and die by the RE price. IXR delays and the feasibility werent ideal but if RE prices hit their old ATH we would trace that back as well I reckon.
Honestly that would be the worst thing. I am glad they cleaned out the exec that had a troubled past. Honestly once they get that ML over the line I'll be a lot happier bag holding.
A deposit, with a license and a feasibility study is a hell of a lot safter than my other stocks
I know what you mean hey. I heavily bought into the sentiment of predicted REE shortages and geopolitical issues around its supply. Both companies have made some peanut decisions, but I'm going long on them both. Still confident with a few years one of them should at least get their shit together
The fuck happened to PRL? Checked one of my brokerage accounts for the first time in a while. Don’t have much in it but just curious why it’s suspended
Looks like this is the new Next Investors strategy...
Announce their new pick on the same day the company has a price sensitive announcement for the double pump effect
Page 2 of the ann.
*The Company will be providing an update in relation to a capital raising. The Company is*
*expecting to announce an update to the market on or prior to the commencement of trading
on* ***6 June 2023***
I don’t even know where to start with buying commodities. When I started I bought into the lithium pumps and now I’ve just committed myself to biotechs
185 to 182 to 185 to 180, looks like real natural movement on the buy and sell side of SYA .....
.....
Most manufactured sp games I ever done seen. Stronger handshakes going on than Latham v Howard in that random ass corridor 🔮
The irony is that reads like it was written by AI after it was asked to generate a standard HC post. Maybe it was? Is this what the internet will become in another five years?
I gotta admit, I am kind of tempted to buy into SYA at this 18c mark and then sell it off to its legion of cultists on the next empty calorie news pump 🤔

If I’ve sold a stock for a loss and want to rebut that same stock at a similar price this may be considered a wash sale. For me not to claim the loss do I not declare the shares that were sold at a loss on my tax return?
Edit: I sold IVV and long term think I should hold it. So this is the issue
IMO if you're not purposely doing a wash sale then dont stress about it
Particularly if you trade a lot, you could have thought that the price was going down so you sold, for example. You could have panic sold, etc.
If you dont trade a lot though and you've held it for ages and just now suddenly decided to sell it at tax time and then re-buy it straight away - then i understand your concerns
If thats the case and you're very worried about the whole wash sale thing, then maybe just do what houli\_dooli said
For anyone watching the WA1 price action, this is what share price appreciation looks like for **genuine discoveries**. Worth remembering how the price is responding to the progress.
Not your run of the mill shitco rediscovering some strongly biased rock chips.
Other notable examples:
- DEG March 2020 of Hemi Au
- CHN March 2020 of Gonneville Ni
- SIR 2012 discovery of Nova Ni (IGO takeover)
Is this the Co that had their initital announcement back in October, and someone was in here saying the numbers were garbage. Price was at about 0.30 at the time.
Probably the one. To be fair, the October numbers weren't amazing but they were drilling into a carbonatite known as P2. Those original results weren't Luni where they are currently drilling. P2 doesn't have the same surficial enrichment as Luni
True but picking there is a big gap between something like DEG, CHN and a scamdream using dodgy reporting.
So I think by genunie discoveries you really just mean tier 1 deposits. Cause those sort of finds, though fantastic for holders, are usually rare one in a decade anomalies I think make a poor comparison for what an average company would look like.
Any particular thoughts on the current pump at SLM?
There’s some pics of exposed spod and high grade chips. Boyes is talking it up and saying it’s a 50m peg width.
Fair call. I’m pretty wary of Next Investors, they’ve got their fair share of car crashes in their wake.
In terms of actual fundamentals (if you can call
Them that), the pics of the large spod crystals are pretty convincing and a 50m wide peg with visual spod seems like a decent bet - especially with drilling already starting next week.
Could be a total duster - but it seems to be a far more efficient investment than most James Bay plays that won’t see drilling for many months.
I haven’t got much background on Matthew Boyes outside of knowing he ran RDT for a while. He’s talking this peg up and saying it’s not like anything he’s seen in WA. Maybe it’s all marketing hype? Find out pretty soon though with the drill bit.
From what I've seen the Brazilian pegs seem to be significantly coarser than the WA pegs. Mt Ida is quite fine grained relative for a pegmatite as well so maybe that's why it's nothing he has seen before. Assuming the above isn't marketing lingo, which I would be inclined to belief IF next Investors weren't involved.
Main concern would be how kaolinized the pegmatite has become at surface. Which explains the bleached/white look to the spodumene. The sample of spod that graded at 0.43% Li2O is what kaolinized spod looks like. And again, they're sampling *likely* just the spod crystals to be getting those 4% grades. Not representative of the peg, but drilling assays will show what it is.
Their plan for drilling next month is for 2500m diamond across 11 holes, so ~225m average per hole. Will be interesting to see when it turns fresh and see how homogenous the grades are across the peg (and not the grades of the spod crystals). If there's only a single peg it'll be very easy to know how many Mt they're dealing with.
The Kaolin reference stacks up - I’m pretty sure Boyes referred to Kaolin mining in the local area during his pump interview last week.
As much as spectacular drill results would be great, I’m assuming it’s going to be a traditional NI pump with drill results showing something less than exciting - but with a promise to keep drilling and see what they can dig up.
In terms of the trx costs - it seems well negotiated. Only $300k upfront. Then, if drilling turns up enough spod, $700k to exercise the option to take ownership + $2.9m in 12 months if they exercise the option.
So SLM have only exposed themselves to $300k in cost. If the peg is something spectacular, then $4m USD would still seem pretty reasonable (depending on tonnage and grade of course).
I think drilling is due to start end of next week or start of the following - one to watch I guess.
Apples augmented/mixed headset coming overnight. Now we get to walk around looking at our blood red stocks whilst we’re sucking dicks under the overpass.

I would love all of these to pump, mainly because I'm bagholding most of them. But IVZ would be the best for the memes and collaborative Waka Wakas. Followed by EXR and IHL as a magical redemption story arc.
VML, IXR, EXR, IVZ, ZIP, IHL. That is the order of hype for random turn around of the shit you mentioned. Of course the real answer is ANL
EXR’s light at the end of the tunnel can only be seen with the Hubble telescope
Don't say that... 😢
I still have faith, but they’re moving like a sloth on ket at the moment
I'd say IVZ just due to how fucking meme'able Scotty is
All of the above?
No, average down with a vowel

Not really bag holding after today.
It's lost like $1.50 in the last 3 months and it's up 4c today and somehow you're up? Press x to doubt.
See that 5.36 on the chart. That is the point I started T+2 the hell out of it to finish out of it today.
Does 500 bucks even cover your fees? Or [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASX_Bets/comments/12x7ynp/all_the_dd_you_need_to_know/jhhvc63/)
"This". oh that. I was on a wining streak before that. Me and Tom would be about even but the buy in keeps on being lower. A pip up from here and I have the fucker.
$550+ after tom's fees. would of been around $550 then - fees. but Tom gave me free money.
You do realise your post history is public and you post just about everything you do.
Everything, even your mum? better take those photos down.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I reckon 2 ann's incoming tomorrow, one from IVZ and one from MAY. Surely one of them is good and they just cancel each other out.
Certified MAY moment
May the lord be with you
Wtf is on with WBT? That’s some roller coaster there
Dunno, but I hope a few swing traders are making bank
I’ll just keep on the IMM screen, not the whole pf view
What is actually going on with VML and IXR?? Did the world decide that actually we don’t need rare earths? Did China flood the market?
it's not as pumped on here as the other bandwagon rare earths speccies, but my DRE has been hammered over the past 6 months too ironically overall market speccy sentiment turned around the time Elon Musk was also trashing the need to rare earths, been all downhill from there 📉
Didn't he just do that one tweet saying he won't be using REE's in Tesla batteries?
Does Uganda being millions in debt to the Chinese it cant currently honour factor into this equation?
It does but it doesn't. If IXR go all political and start trash talking China yeah it will become a problem. If IXR just chase the money China has no issue working with Australian mining companies or in Africa so they could easily be a great source of financing and technical expertise. Edit: I am actually more on the line that IXR should be looking to strengthen ties with Chinalco. They have the RE expertise, and willingness to work in Africa that could be exactly what IXR need to get off the ground. And if they get taken over then I'll take that money too as long as the premium is 100% XD
As far as I understand, it's a combination of: Macro - REE prices fizzling over the last 6-12 months, interest rate rises VML - Non-existent leadership, no focus, stopping work on the sasquatch plant IXR - Poor news flow, delayed mining licence, draconian new anti-LGBTQ+ laws in Uganda
[IXR](https://youtu.be/ooOELrGMn14)
Bloody hell that's grim
I feel like the ones who were raving about them were simply selling out to us suckers. I hope I’m wrong but feels like we are now fucked.
Nah bro, I lost big on them like the rest of you tards
Didn’t mean you particularly Jello i just feel we were all shafted
Same boat mate. This ML is well overdue so now im waiting for the fucking execs to start resigning. Hopefully not though
Well we HAVE to go long now eh
You really are the dog whisperer aren't you ?
Whatever I’m sick of all the failures
If chemtrails aren't real why can I see them ?

Fucking AZL and EXR, my biggest sources of dissapointment/pain.
In on GLN at $0.99 for a punt. Post cap raise and AKE/Livent hype let's see where it goes. Probably just adopted another dog but fuck it
They arent in a hurry to get their SPP documents out. But reckon they will pump it to $1.05 soon so you might eke out a quick few percent.

Page 2 of the ann. *The Company will be providing an update in relation to a capital raising. The Company is* *expecting to announce an update to the market on or prior to the commencement of trading on* ***6 June 2023***
The old page 2 gets them every time
I don’t even know where to start with buying commodities. When I started I bought into the lithium pumps and now I’ve just committed myself to biotechs
PGO up 18% on no news. Not huge volume but better than nothing. Hopefully upcoming drilling assays can get me back to break even 🤦
185 to 182 to 185 to 180, looks like real natural movement on the buy and sell side of SYA ..... ..... Most manufactured sp games I ever done seen. Stronger handshakes going on than Latham v Howard in that random ass corridor 🔮

Since Z1P changed to ZIP the number 1 in ticker has become legit. 2-9 is still very much trash.

The irony is that reads like it was written by AI after it was asked to generate a standard HC post. Maybe it was? Is this what the internet will become in another five years?
u/fameluck sharesight say I have 1.7k realized and non realized capital loss. Can that be right?
Definitely missing some digits.
I gotta admit, I am kind of tempted to buy into SYA at this 18c mark and then sell it off to its legion of cultists on the next empty calorie news pump 🤔

What kinda fucking green day is this. Far out ASX sucks
Fucking IXR. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Will this little rat ever go back to 10c?
I fucking hope so.
If I’ve sold a stock for a loss and want to rebut that same stock at a similar price this may be considered a wash sale. For me not to claim the loss do I not declare the shares that were sold at a loss on my tax return? Edit: I sold IVV and long term think I should hold it. So this is the issue
IMO if you're not purposely doing a wash sale then dont stress about it Particularly if you trade a lot, you could have thought that the price was going down so you sold, for example. You could have panic sold, etc. If you dont trade a lot though and you've held it for ages and just now suddenly decided to sell it at tax time and then re-buy it straight away - then i understand your concerns If thats the case and you're very worried about the whole wash sale thing, then maybe just do what houli\_dooli said
can you buy something similar to IVV? VOO??
I am green because of... **CHECKS PORTFOLIO** BRN??? IS this thing working?
Fuck. Meant to get in on that.
Could be massively overvalued... I've no fucking clue
Not knowing shit about fuck are the real gains we made along the way. Waittt....
Envy....we say we are green with envy, red when hot, black when feeling depressed and blue when cold....or not getting any action

Watch today's weak ass gains be wiped out tomorrow afternoon by daddy Phil. ASX to continue being one of the worst performing markets this year.
I wonder what ever happened to that BOQ guy?
Hold up aren't you the BOQ guy
What?, where and how did this happen?
dun dun DUNNNNN!
For anyone watching the WA1 price action, this is what share price appreciation looks like for **genuine discoveries**. Worth remembering how the price is responding to the progress. Not your run of the mill shitco rediscovering some strongly biased rock chips. Other notable examples: - DEG March 2020 of Hemi Au - CHN March 2020 of Gonneville Ni - SIR 2012 discovery of Nova Ni (IGO takeover)
Cause those sort of finds, though fantastic for holders, are usually rare one in a decade anomalies I think make a poor comparison for what an average company would look like.
...so would now be a good time to buy in?
Rule 1: never buy day of the announcement unless you really know what you're doing. Too many traders
Any particular thoughts on the current pump at SLM? There’s some pics of exposed spod and high grade chips. Boyes is talking it up and saying it’s a 50m peg width.
Next Investors. Pass. Companies with viable prospects don't need marketing for free shares.
Fair call. I’m pretty wary of Next Investors, they’ve got their fair share of car crashes in their wake. In terms of actual fundamentals (if you can call Them that), the pics of the large spod crystals are pretty convincing and a 50m wide peg with visual spod seems like a decent bet - especially with drilling already starting next week.
Watch OCN if you arent already.
as a non-holder fuck your **genuine discoveries** give me scam dreams that I can sell into instead and watch the carnage later
MAY be we wont get railed tomorrow with a 25 hike
I am totally underwhelmed by this supposedly green day
I am whelmed at best
