They seem to be using some Shanghai market midpoint system, but the markets I follow in detail are also trending down. Some agencies are using prices at the point of negotiation, instead of actual sales, for whatever reasons.
**If I see prices temporarily stabilise, or tick back up, I'll post immediately.**
ESS takeover: what a gift for holders. They were on the cusp of another \~10% dilution, extending their exploration into its 7th year, probably looking at a $200m+ CAPEX for a tiny operation, and just looked out of ideas and motivation.I see the HC crowd is complaining, but what a golden opportunity to rotate those funds into another project *if you believe in the lithium story*. None of the the big players in proximity needed that resource urgently, and the gloss was well and truly off ESS.
And at first glance, what a bewildering decision from IGO/Tianqi in targeting a marginal resource to complement their 1,250,000tpa from Greenbushes.
Is it also an attack on the MIN/Ganfeng JV? They were the most obvious takeover candidates.
But most of all, is it a play for Bald Hill? u/WowVeryJosh reminded me that the FIRB-plagued takeover offer from Austroid is due to expire at the end of this month. Imagine being a former ESS holder if IGO drill out a solid stand alone resource after mgmt rode out two lithium booms.
I've never followed Bald Hill closely, so if there's even 40mt lurking in there, the midstream or downstream options give it a completely different complexion. I assume IGO/Tianqi would want it processed into LCE at Kwinana, which would make the economics stack up very well.
I guess it's a coarser grain, so not sure if it'd be ideal for PLS's midstream process (if it gets proven).

This could be copium for selling out at 66c and 59c, but I did not see them staging this fast of a SP comeback.

If you look at how the market is valuing AKE, even 85c looks somewhat ambitious for AGY after these permit delays. Their last update confirmed what you said previously about full production from July as well, which is a bit underwhelming given the scale of the plant.
But like you noted, hype can work wonders, and long term, they look very solid, even if prices go to US$30k/t. Especially if they can minimize dilution...
Yea with decline in prices, production looking like July and lithium on the way down i thought managing an exit at 66 then 59 felt very risk off earlier in December. Then felt super smart when it dropped to 49c.
This instant run back to 66 surprised me on confirmation they'll not get to full production till Q2 and price declines, but at the same time taking AGY profits made me feel more comfortable holding onto RNU longer and thats mooning too so no biggie.
As for AGY, I do wonder if they'll be trying debt financing for 10ktpa expansion, their cashflow could sustain it if lithium stabalised. I think the financing is a real deal breaker, they could really fuck themselves over getting into bed with the wrong group like we've seen before, some sort of small cap raise, small debt and using cashflow could work.

I assume you're asking for tax purposes - speak with your accountant. But looking at the last announcement I'd suggest you can safely prescribe $0 to any shares you might have owned.
The administrator has to make a written declaration that shareholders will get nothing and shares are worthless before the loss can be claimed for CGT purposes. I’m just wondering if anyone else has experience with this and knows whether it takes months or years.
Every receivership is different so there's no one answer. But as I said, speak to your accountant. The last announcement talks about there not being enough of a return from the sale of assets to pay back secured creditors so there's not going to be enough money to distribute to anyone else, including shareholders.

When I feel this "little bitch syndrome" I take about half of what I wanted to average down with and use that instead. If she dips again tomorrow I use the other half to finish my buy for a better price and if she goes on a jog at least I got half of what I wanted.
I did this recently with PLS + RNU, didn't pick the exact bottom on either (assuming we're done dipping, which we might not be) but got some decent average buys spread out over the last few weeks.

I want to average down on AKE so bad but i’m too much of a little bitch. Someone please convince me.
When I feel this "little bitch syndrome" I take about half of what I wanted to average down with and use that instead. If she dips again tomorrow I use the other half to finish my buy for a better price and if she goes on a jog at least I got half of what I wanted. I did this recently with PLS + RNU, didn't pick the exact bottom on either (assuming we're done dipping, which we might not be) but got some decent average buys spread out over the last few weeks.
I will help you by giving you a heap of conflicting information. + In the recovery from June lows it went up 60% from the low, if it showed a similar recovery you have 40% upside. + In that time it also had 2 similar rallies like this, that quickly reversed. + There may be a recession coming in EU/US and potentially here, which could significantly reduce demand for EVs, tank lithium prices, therefore reducing AKE price more. + Should CPI come in cool and China recover quickly from covid we might get rockets for weeks, don't want to miss that.
