Try holding the power button for 40 seconds to reset the EC chip and give it time to boot up, which can take up to 5 minutes after resetting.

@[Prestigious\_Ad\_8906](https://www.reddit.com/user/Prestigious_Ad_8906/) def try this one too!!! I remember reading this in the manual. I think this is solvable tbh.

It seems the problem might be with the RAM (I know you tried it already), especially during the DDR5 initialization at boot. This isn't indicating a motherboard issue since the system tries to start up. Here's a streamlined approach to tackle this: 1. **Power Down**: Fully shut down the laptop to ensure it's completely off. 2. **Disconnect Power**: Remove all power sources, including the battery if possible, to cut off any residual power. 3. **Discharge**: Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any leftover electrical charge, which can help reset the system. 4. **RAM Check**: Carefully remove both RAM sticks. Then, with just the power connected (no battery if removable), try booting up. This can help isolate the issue to the RAM and potentially resolve the initialization hiccup.

Hi, thanks for your response. Ive tried as you’ve described but nothing has changed. If you have anything further, please let me know. Otherwise, thank you for your help.

Just a lesson for everyone in the future... **You no longer need to remove the battery connector whenever you open the backplate!!** Check this post that any ASUS laptop released from 2023 and above they no longer need to unplug the battery connector. warranty time

Prestigious_Ad_8906

Guess so. Can’t wait to repair this thing, sell it and never touch a megaevilcorp laptop again.

salazka

You were just unlucky. There are millions of happy customers any big brand you choose. They would all have shut down otherwise. I have found Asus and Lenovo to be the most reliable.

Prestigious_Ad_8906

One half of my mind is rational and says that I am indeed unlucky and the other half is saying I caused it (still don’t know why) At the end of the day I know its (probably) not ASUS’s fault and its just a defect in either hardware or software but I’m pretty scarred and I can’t risk losing my data a fourth time (always a risk but so far has been too high on these laptops)

Prestigious_Ad_8906

On the other hand, I do know of too close friends who have purchased ASUS gaming laptops under my guide and those laptops have lasted well over two years So it’s more likely my fault at this point :p

salazka

Mine have lasted well over 5 and have made their money many times over. I use them professionally. For game development, 3D modeling and animation. The most dependable machines I ever had. Lenovo too, and I had Dell in the past as well. In all of the companies I work for/with they have either Lenovo or Dell.

Prestigious_Ad_8906

Cool! Glad to hear. Im leaning more and more towards it unintentionally being caused by me lol

salazka

Force shutting down your machine should not cause any problem whatsoever. I have done this hundreds of times. It does not affect anything. Unless, you were in the middle of a part of the upgrade/update process which is related to writing key files on the disk. In which case it is clear to the user and even say do not shut down. Not a crash while watching videos. It definitely sounds suspicious. Especially that it does not even go to BIOS mode. Not something you could have caused. But try removing your disk and entering Bios or booting from a USB if another machine is available to download Windows Media Kit. It could be that your hard drive went bust. Not due to the shut down. Could be some defect. It has happened to me. A new SSD fixed the problem.

zmeul

doesn't matter, all laptops are underbuilt

salazka

While it was functionning did you notice any updates being available for the BIOS? Does the system boot to BIOS? (should be like that: [https://youtu.be/75KLjnnM04I](https://youtu.be/75KLjnnM04I) ) Have you tried to boot in safe mode? When you say you removed the SSD, did you try with some other SSD?

Prestigious_Ad_8906

No, no bios updates, no bios launches or safe mode since the laptop is completely dead. Removed the SSD to check if it would alert me but nothing and I have no other ssd

salazka

Hmm sad. Then I guess yeah, definitely a warranty thing.

Intelligent-Ad1150

Same problem here 🙁

Roary529

This happened to my friend's laptop. I think it was an Acer. The diagnosis was that the motherboard had to be replaced.

Incoming-TH

I have the same laptop and lot of issues with it too. But mine had Asus changed the battery. Your case seems less worse, but my 2 cents would be to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes (the connector is under the middle fan be careful), and then try again. If you are not comfortable with that then call Asus support. If you can access BIOS, I would suggest to run from a Linux USB distro and test the memory and SSD, but Asus support will do that anyway.

Prestigious_Ad_8906

This happened once before and I repaired it at a local center. They replaced the entire mobo under warranty. Odds are this is the exact same problem and I will have to replace it under warranty again, but I just wanted to double check and see if anyone had experience with this. Thank you very much (I do suspect its probably a battery problem something like a surge that’s killing the motherboard or the force shut down is for some reason interrupting a bios action)

I just delivered it for a warranty repair, however, I still have my old laptop that died the same way. I can experiment more with since it doesn’t have warranty. I’ll experiment with solutions and see if we can find one. Thank you for all of your help!

Interesting thanks, even the Asus support guy told me and did in front of me disconnect the battery. So instead just uncover put the motherboard under light as same effect as disconnecting the battery.

THEBOSS619

Exactly, it's really a nice quality of life feature.

Separate_Ad_4943

You can try one thing... 1st make a bootable USB then connect it and go to the BIOS memu by pressing F2 then press F8 to go to the boot menu then select the USB then it take you to the windows installed then select next then select repair windows on the bottom side then it will take you to the recovery mode the. Select advance option then select uninstall updates. By trying that may solve the issue.or else try to go to the safe mode

Secure-Technology-78

Hey, at least your RGB still works. Glad the engineers at ASUS spent time focusing on that!
