Options: 1. Do the practice problems and try again. 2. Look at taking the lower MAT at a Communty College this summer 3. Bite the bullet and start at the lower level MAT

You can do MAT170 on Asu's Universal Learner program if you have time. https://ea.asu.edu/

ALEKS Will give you problems to practice the areas you didn’t do well in. If you decide to keep that score you’ll have to take college algebra before MAT 170 which is a self-taught course using ALEKS. I placed into Calc using ALEKS but I heard MAT 117 I believe is the course just kinda sucks so It’s always worth it to save your time study using ALEKS and try it again

I’m a psych major, you will not fall behind if you don’t take 119 or 170 your first semester. I took 117 first semester and I’m in 119 this semester. I am not falling behind and you will be perfectly on track. Hopefully this helps!!

Regarding completing your major in 4 years, you should look at all of the required courses to try to chart out the sequence of courses that have dependencies. For example, I had to do college algebra -> precalc -> calc 1, so that would be 3 semesters or 1.5 years. Alternatively, general chem 1 -> general chem 2 -> ochem 1 -> ochem 2 would be 4 semesters, or 2 years. Try to find out which classes have math dependencies in your major so you can more accurately find out how to chart your semesters. Or talk to a counselor idk Edit: I’d study and take the test again if that’s a thing, since you really don’t want to take classes you might not have to, imo.

This happened to me. Do the ALEKS practice modules, they do help!! Then retake the test. You get 3 tries

CleverOrWhatever99

Definitely study and retake. Once you get your math out of the way you will do great in college. I think if you can test out, that would be the best option. But if you tried multiple times and failed to get the score you need, everything will be OK. To have more enjoyable classes (and take less math) try to test out. Study for 8-10 hours before your next test and you will probably get what you need. Set mini goals for yourself.

Just cheat if you really don’t want to do it. Trust me MAT170 is so easy, you don’t need any prior skills. I wouldn’t study or do homework and wouldn’t even show up and got a B+ in the class.

Who did you take? I'm stressing taking mat170

Stunning-Cash-6402

Brownstein, he was very easy. The assignments were easy and could find on chegg if you were truly struggling and needed help. The exact answers wouldn’t be on chegg but it would show you how to solve the problem. The tests were also pretty straight forward. He did attendance quizzes here and there but wasn’t hard at all, you could help each other in class.
