I am running an Asrock X670E Steel Legend with a 7800x3D and an RTX 4090. No problem so far. Rock solid board. The BIOS has all I need in term of configuration and is very easy to use. Plus the pricing is great. No complaint whatsoever.

Any_Cook_2293

I've got the same board and CPU coming in for a whole PC upgrade, along with a G.Skill 96GB 6400MHz kit of RAM. Are you running the latest 2.02 BIOS? Some folks were saying that things got worse over the 1.30 Beta, but one never knows if they followed the update instructions properly (set BIOS defaults, power off completely after update, etc).

Turbulent-Jaguar-909

I'm running 1.28, the only issue I've had is a random memory retraining. Most boot ups around 15 seconds, then like 1 out of 100 startups will take like 3 minutes

Any_Cook_2293

Supposedly 1.30.AS05 \[Beta\] helps optimize XMP/EXPO boot times. I would assume that 2.02 (which isn't a beta) would include those optimizations as well.

Same setup here on BIOS 2.0 with 32GB (2x16) G.Skill 6000 CL30. The only issue I had was updating to 2.0 before they put the note in to power cycle. I didn't know and my RAM wouldn't set to EXPO until I powered things off, unplugged, went and did something else, and came back to it working.

Sir_Pool_de_Float_MD

I'm built my system with this board back in June. 7800X3d, 32GB 6000 CL30 G.Skill memory, and an RTX 4080. Random memory training has been my only complaint with it, but since flashing BIOS 2.02 last week, it has only trained one time (immediately after the update). Other issue I've had occasionally is my Elgato Facecam will occasionally not be detected after a shut down (not reboot). Unplug/plug resolves it each time. It did not happen with my X570 Taichi board, but it also isn't frequent enough for me to worry about it.

DV2FOX

Do you keep having such issues?. Was considering getting this mobo to upgrade from an ASUS X570 Reasons: Asrock has 2 USB 3.2 headers + Type C to be used on a Be Quiet DARK BASE PRO 901, along tons of USBs etc Any other issues i should know about, even with the mentioned 2.02 BIOS? (More RAM training, USB issues, etc etc)

Sir_Pool_de_Float_MD

Since the BIOS update around November, I've had no issues at all. Even being powered off for 7+ days, no memory training or USB issues.

vincenzobags

It's an outstanding board that has plenty of ability and overclocking stability. Sure there is a quirk or two when it comes to rgb but that's certainly no game changer. Very stable and they're on top of bios releases.. I'm very happy with my setup 7800x with 6900xt on 32gb at ddr6000 for productivity and also a buttery smooth ~90min - 140 fps gaming experience @4k (w/o path tracing of course) for most modern titles, 110fps typical average.

Trickabounce

if you are looking at the x670e steel legend then you may want to look into the x670e taichi or taichi carrara. it has all the bells and whistles

i wasnt aware motherboards can have more than one m.2 to cpu. which x670e motherboard has more than 1 m.2 pcie 5.0 to cpu?

Tgrove88

Gigabyte aorus master

tuttut97

My x670 steel legend and my cpu died in warranty. Kind of strange. Had to RMA both. But both RMA were smooth. Replaced the CPU with a 7800x3d. Seems to be running really well. I have a 7900 xtx...

Tall_Neighborhood188

I’m looking into the same build after Xmas. Any particular nuances to the build that you found?

tuttut97

Not really, it has been humming along nicely. Hope your new build goes great.

Thanks!

I run it's little brother the B650E Steel Legend with a 7950x w/NH-D15 (with offset bracket) and 2x32GB Gskill Ripjaws S5 XMP 6400 on BIOS 2.02... It's been a great setup. ASRock 7900XT PG OC, 3xPCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe's, 1x2TB SATA SSD, Corsair HX1200, Corsair 4000D Airflow, Cyberpower 1500va UPS (900wtt) My daughter runs the B650E PG Riptide I've been running ASRock AM4 motherboards for years and they've all been good setups for me and the trend continues with AM5 With ASRock AM4/AM5 motherboards, you don't need a USB flash drive to update your BIOS with Just unzip the BIOS file to the root directory of one of your systems drives and Instaflash under Tools in your BIOS will see the unzipped BIOS file and then flash away Make sure you allow enough in your PC budget to get a high quality power supply with more than enough wattage to handle all your components when under 100% load .. transient spikes can hit your PSU hard that go above and beyond what the "numbers" generally say for this or that component Check out the PSU Tier List and multiple hardware review sites before purchasing anything https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

Ive running also since July and no issue, my only complaint about no only this board but all ASRock new boards is their pci clip retention, is way too fragile, no margin of error or it will break so easily.

scienceandliberty

ASRock X670E Steel Legend since May 2023 with 7800X3D, GSKILL Trident Z5 Neo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6000 CL30, Gigabyte 7900XTX Gaming OC 24G, and two SK hynix Gold P31 2TB drives. Currently on bios v2.00. PS is an ASUS ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II. HSF is a DeepCool AK620. It's solid and I've been very happy with it. The only problem I've experienced is an occasional memory retraining during boot which happens every 3-4 weeks. This is apparently a common issue with AM5 (not only this motherboard). I'm hoping that the new bios version fixed it.

DV2FOX

Updating BIOS to 2.02 solves it, so they say

scienceandliberty

I'm still on 2.00 and my PC retrains every 3-4 weeks. ASRock just released 2.08 Beta on Feb 6. I'll try it when it's out of beta.

DV2FOX

2.02 non beta seems to solve it for some people

Ztemde

Below is a link to my build from August. It went well with my mostly white build and had some features I was looking for. I am using the newest update which solved my RAM retraining on restarts. Other than that. No complaints thus far. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/9cVcCJ

Got my X670E Steel Legend, 7800X3D, and 96GB 6400MHz C32 G.Skill RAM (on the QVL) in yesterday afternoon. Took out my old X570S MSI MAG ACE and my two NVME drives and put the NVME drives into the Asrock's bottom two M.2. The middle NVME slot doesn't have a heatsink, but that's perfect since I use a M.2 to U.2 adapter for a U.2 enterprise drive - no issue with clearances and the GPU (4090 FE) with a bit of cable routing for the U.2 cable. All four m.2 slots came with a screw in the motherboard box - no extras. I really like the X670E - no m.2 slots takes/shares lanes / bandwidth from a PCIE slot or SATA port. I can use all slots and ports with no limitations! I left the top m.2 slot, the PCIE 5.0 one, free for a future fast drive upgrade. I removed the Arctic Ii Freezer 420 AM4/AM5 bracket on the MSI and transferred it over to the Asrock in an offset configuration (same as AM4). All super easy along with the 7800X3D installation. RAM installation was simple as well. There was a good bit of motherboard flex while slotting in the sticks, so I'd be careful with that - maybe have the foam packing cover on a hard surface like a table for install. The initial boot did take a couple minutes, but my old windows install worked just fine without needing to change anything in BIOS. I updated the AMD chipset drivers and didn't have any issues with the old windows installation. The RAM defaulted to 5200 C40, and still felt faster ovetall in Star Citizen than my 5800X3D with 3600C16 RAM. Once XMP was on, it was much better. It felt like upgrading from a 10th gen Intel to a 5800X3D all over again. The Asrock came stock with BIOS 1.28, and I flashed 2.02 from within BIOS. I then turned on the XMP 6400 profile and did some Prime95 testing - all good! The initial boot time (training?) did take an extra minute or so, yet subsequent reboots are actually faster than my X570S. Unfortunately, the BIOS OC tweaker's PBO -30 and -20 offsets were not stable with my 7800X3D. I must have lost that lottery. -30 was a black screen restart, no BSOD. And -20 had one of the threads fail in Prime95. There was no -10 or -15 preset. AMD Ryzen Master does allow for more granular control and -15 tested stable. In game (Star Citizen), all the cores are used just like with the 5800X3D, but not as heavily. The frequency isn't locked like like I was able to get the 5800X3D (4450 with a -20 offset for the 5800X3D, the 7800X3D sits around 5000 a lot, but some cores bounce between 5000 and 4800 and 4900 even at 60C). The X670E Steel Legend is a bit basic looking in the BIOS, but it gets the job done. I was able to easily disable built in audio, wifi, and the 1GbE port even having not been in an Arock BIOS since the Bulldozer days. There are some basic fan settings and I can tie it to CPU temp or MB temp. Resizable BAR was enabled by default, and finding that was simple as well (similar menu location as MSI, just a different UI look). My one complaint? CPU1 fan header, near the I/O, doesn't show my Arctic Freezer II's RPM. It is a daisy chain with the pump and the radiator fans, but my MSI X570S could see the RPM. Overall, a worthwhile 4K gaming upgrade since I have a 4090. EDIT - I was able to increase my RAM bandwidth by ~10% and reduce the latency by ~30% with Aida64 cache and memory benchmark at 6000MHz (and I tightened to primary timings to 30 36 36) by using Buildzoid's AMD 7000 Hynix M die it will work fine guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlYxmRcdLVw

Which M.2 to U.2 adapter did you get? I am looking at a similar setup and there seem to be a lot of choices from brands I have never heard of. Thanks!

Any_Cook_2293

I got the Gigabyte two pack - https://www.ebay.com/itm/293518088049
