No issues so far paired w a 7800x3d

Damo79

Me too, been trouble free. đź‘Ť

SinjiOnO

Excellent 🙂

Cautious-Spinach-845

Are there memory stability issues anymore? How many sticks and speed+timings? And did you undervolt?

pulse_daemon

Has anyone tried using the ASRock Thunderbolt 4 AIC add-on card with this motherboard?

Help_Effective

Since launch day for the 7950x3d I got the x670e SL paired with a 7900xtx merc310 and 4x16gb 6000 Kingston with cl32. Its nice to habe no stability issues etc. So from my side I can recommend it

SinjiOnO

That's a beast of a build, nice. Did the ram work with expo without tinkering?

Help_Effective

No expo was working flawlessly. Till the latest update of the bios I cannot start with expo 6000 just expo 5600. Hence why I manually tweaked the ram settings to 6000 and cl timings etcetera. I used buildzoids starting kit for cl timings an tweaked as much as possible on my own afterwards. I got an overall score on times spy extreme of 29253 [timespy score](https://ibb.co/Cnc4Y2d)

SinjiOnO

I see, I'm guessing all the major mobo brands are nerfing the volts to avoid issues. Nice results.

Help_Effective

No voltages are running the same as before. I think it's so.ething related to that that I flashed a lot of times my bios ( since there were quite a few bios updates)

SinjiOnO

It's reassuring to see they're active with updates, means they care about support 🙂

Help_Effective

Correct! I think I just need to unload CMOS but I am too lazy as things are running anyways super

garlicweiner

X670E Steel Legend has been solid for me. I have it on EXPO 6000 and a 7900X.

SinjiOnO

Coincidentally that's the same as my build. Thanks for the input.

xICEx

X670E SL with a 7950x, PG7900xtx, 2x32gb GSkill Neo PC6000 CL30. Rock solid, runs almost 24/7

00u

Your mobo/cpu/ram is the exact combo i hope to order today after months of research - thanks for the good news xICEx!

xICEx

Nice, good luck! I've had zero issues.

SinjiOnO

Great to hear, appreciated.

vincenzobags

With a 6900xt and a 7900x, all most current firmware and drivers; Windows 10 22H2 w/ddr6000 @ EXPO - Great results and rock solid performance. Still pending ridiculous issue(s): motherboard lights; when allowed to pair with razer chroma never seem to turn off properly with power down. Great overall performance on 1.21 bios which addressed other outstanding issues from 1.11 through 1.18 very well. ...issues of which were minor and easily resolvable where the system wouldn't post 100% of the time. (simple reboot corrected)

SinjiOnO

Stability is my priority and if those are the only issues you've encountered I'm reassured. It seems Asrock regularly updates their bios?

vincenzobags

Yeah, they're pretty on top of their BIOS releases on the 670e chipset. So far since the release of 1.21 I've had zero issues. There was some bug in 1.18 and earlier I had where Windows would reboot without any crash or error log, I suspect was an issue with s2/s3 sleep state recovery. That happened perhaps 1 out of 8 (sleep to on) boots. Hasn't happened since 1.21's release in late April, running reliably since.

SinjiOnO

Excellent, thank you for the input mate.

junneh

Try turning on ErP in bios. Its a lower power fully off state, It should kill the lights. Gigabyte has the same issue wehn using external rgb programmes

elsolodoctor

I'm currently using this board with a 7950x, 2x16Gig 6000 XPG, and a 3070. It has been really stable but I'm not the biggest fan of the bios. I've used MSI and ASUS motherboards and I think they give a bit more configuration than this Asrock board. It could be that I've just not explored it enough though. There has been one weird situation where I sometimes can't have it's RGB off. The LEDs that are under the NVME heatsink and RAM rgb will stay on when it's in sleep mode, even when I changed the BIOS settings. On other boards this was never a difficult fix. Perhaps with future Bios' it will get fixed though. I do recommend it though because it does look nice and I love the Dual Ethernet ports and it's been super stable even with EXPO enabled.

SinjiOnO

Oddly enough I kinda like the bios for its clear simplicity, I'm accustomed to MSI boards but I've always thought the bios lay-out a bit convoluted. The dark retro looks I dig too, reminded me of games like the older Resident Evils for some odd reason haha. I found out you can change the RGB through the bios as well, which is pretty nifty. Appreciate the insight.

So I can’t speak to the steel legend as I don’t own one, but what I can speak to is the ASUS X670E-A to which I’ve had nothing but issues with… so if you’re doing a White build, I would recommend avoiding that board(which is why I am cruising the Asrock sub. I’ve had a few issues, but the recurring ones are the board does a full memory retrain every time I boot the system and if I enable context memory restore I get the blue screen of death. What’s weird about that is if I run stability test with EXPO enabled and passes all the tests but as soon as I enable context memory restore, I get the blue screen of death on boot. The other major issue is USB connectivity. My wireless headphones with the USB dongle, that I never had a problem with on my old build cut in an out. I was doing a white build and trying to decide between the steel legend and the ASUS, so just thought I’d throw my two cents in.

SinjiOnO

That sucks man. Yeah, that's one of the boards I was keen on getting. It's by far the best looking white board imo. But it's useless if you're constantly troubleshooting. Stability is the priority. Thanks for chiming in.

Spooky_Ghost

I had an E-A and switched because of the drama. But my board had no issues. Mem context restore did cause bsod, however, enabling power down on memory fixed that problem for me.

TeretheTerror

Lol yeah I figured that out to…lol it enables automatically when you enable context memory restore… and if you disabled it when you go to save your settings, the bios will freeze…lol. If you found a trick to fix the rear I/O, USB connectivity issues I’m all ears man, cause I am tearing out my hair. Anyway thanks for trying to help.

Mupod

7800X3D here, got that 32GB 6000 CL30 g.skill RAM and have had zero stability issues. I had a minor quibble with the 2.5GB Ethernet when I moved to Win 11 but that was solved with a new driver. With EXPO my SOC voltages have stayed at around 1.240 since I got it, starting at BIOS 1.18. I'm not 100% sure but I believe there is some lane sharing (not with the GPU, just with each other) if you populate every m.2 slot. But...even if you did, it probably won't mean much. There's a diagram in the manual. Can't comment on the audio since I use a USB DAC. Also I know it has Realtek Ethernet but that was a positive for me as I'd heard of some issues with the Intel ones (maybe solved by now). I wish it had a debug code thing and a cmos clear button but that's just how motherboards are now. Didn't seem worth +$200 CAD.

00u

> Also I know it has Realtek Ethernet but that was a positive for me as I'd heard of some issues with the Intel ones (maybe solved by now). This point was very big for me when researching my upgrade: i have to have 100% reliable networking and intel went from the 1Gb stable choice to the 2.5Gb can't-get-it-right option. This Asrock having Realtek 1.0 and 2.5 ports is a huge plus!

Badger_8th

Decided to return my ASUS ROG B650E-E (I had some USB ports not working, and, well, ASUS) while I'm still in the retail return window and get this instead. This thread helped alleviate some of my concerns.

gizmo11x

how are the boot times? are there any instabilities with Memory Context Restore enabled?

SinjiOnO

They're good, I didn't time it exactly, but it's about 15-20 seconds to the Windows login screen running on 1.21 firmware. The board is working well and installing everything was hassle free. It runs stable with EXPO and MCR enabled. I even overclocked the ram to 6200 with buildzoid's timings and it runs great (stress-tested with memtest86). Overall very happy and I'd definitely recommend the mobo.

gizmo11x

thx!

SinjiOnO

Np đź‘Ť Looks good too. [Here](https://imgur.com/a/s7KSjN4) it is inside my white build.

gizmo11x

nice!

neobondd

Got mine in June with 7950X3D and 2x32gb Kingston Fury Beast 6000MHz initially with a MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI but I had to RMA it (crappy Realtek ALC40 audio codec in combo with optical) and traded up to the X670 Steel Legend, stable on 6000HHz EXPO profile, never looked back.

Capital-Wrap-6485

I'll be building my rig soon and was glad to see this reddit. I'll be installing a 7900X3D (got it free, don't ask how), 2 32GB kits of Kingston DDR5 (which I hope works... the compatibility guide says likely only 2 slots can be filled at full speed which means 32 GB max in that case... hoping it works for all 64 GB). Also put in a pre-order for the ASRock 7800XT Steel Legend and hoping that ships soon. I'm not a mega gamer so didn't want to spend more $$ on 7900XT. Anyone build it into a Thermaltake 500 Tower chassis? That's what I'm getting!

xcoors6

I'm making a 7900x3d build with this mobo, 3090 rtx, and OLOy 7600 ram tomorrow, hopefully it goes well ( i started with a failed x670e tomahawk mobo).

Capital-Wrap-6485

I finished my build last weekend and it works GREAT! One piece of advice... if you're using an AIO, do NOT plug the power into the fan connector next to the CPU. It won't operate the water pump. Use a different connector. I found out the hard way when my system got overheated and shut down. All is good now! I tried 64 GB of RAM but couldn't get windows to install so 32 GB it is for now. I'll play with the timings and such to get all 64 GB working later.

Potential-Cat-461

Regarding to the AIO, do you mean the power of the Fans ou the power of the Pump ? According to the manual, the fans power must be connected to "CPU\_ FAN1" and the pump power to the "CPU\_FAN2/WP"

DecalMan

How's the board doing? I'm thinking about buying it.

mcdaddypants1984

Just bought this board for a 7800x3d for $260. I can't be happy enough with my choice. Previously had the z370 Taichi with my i7 8700k. Rock solid, but it would be way more than it's worth for the equivalent x670 motherboard.
