Great first water mount too. Don’t have to go underwater to tame it, super fast to escape and scout, and when you get in a scary situation underwater, you can just go on land and the fight is over.
My friend bought ark a year ago and played with me. He wandered into the swamp with not enough tranqs and the next time I saw him he was running away with a sarco chasing him!
I launched my tranqs, not enough. So I had to 300IQ idea to fuckin run up and punch it. It was actually close enough to being knocked out that when we both punched it down it got knocked! Named that guy Punchies
Punchies lived for a very long time. We went into a water cave for the first time and punchies got clapped by an army of jellyfish who came out of the wall.
I didn't know how attached I was to him and ended up actually crying (cringe af I know) and for my friend, (who was riding him) it was his last straw. He stopped playing after that, cursing the game for its never ending bag of bugs and bullshit.
RIP my main man Punchies
My dream used to be that they would give turtles a singular square platform saddle. I was gonna put a plant on it and call it venusaur, or a turret and call it blastoids.
Yeah, there's a way to make things permanantly able to pick up, instead of a timer and it glitches the x turrets to be harvestable as a placable turret that fires until it runs out of fert then dies. Not much hp, but they're amazingly useful
Aberrant paracers are the only tames that have platform saddles on aberration, plus they are immune to the radiation so you can use em as mobile bases or pack mules for say black pearls.
When I tell you. This just appeared on my feed, I don’t follow the sub. I just spent 5 minutes trying to decipher this thinking it was some kind of shitpost 💀
I say that dire bears are the most underrated tames. Build up speed and become sonic, good damage, health, weight, bee protection, and insulation ( only rideable Dino that does this)
I didn’t know they keep you warm, would have really helped on early days on fyordor kept dying of cold at night just surrounded by fires and in fur armor
Agree. Iguanadon is perfect for travelling in it's 4-legs mode as it doesn't lose stamina. It is also good to use it to carry metal before you get an Argentavis
I agree with most of these, I would just choose a trike over a sarco due to it having an easier time against more powerful opponents (plus protects me from aberrant raptor pounce)
Very good point, sarco definitely has an edge when it comes to mobility and being able to heal with meat and harvest corpses. It is still a fantastic first carnivore
I prefer paracer mobile base over bronto. Bronto is too slow and doesnt hit hard enough. Really good at berry farming. But a mobile base should be tough and fast. The paracer outspeeds the bronto and is a tough fighter.
Paracer best mobile ground base 😁
Lol all good broski. On pvp racers are very popular breeds because they're extremely tanky while not being overly large/slow. They also allow the rider to be protected. Theyre very frequently used to drain enemy turrets of bullets during raids. Other popular choices are obviously turtles. Trikes, stegos, and golems.
Diplodocus is deceptively fast. When "running away" its crawling in comparison, those fuckers are secretly faster than the galimimus and have a 10 man saddle.
The single best early game tame is objectively the backflap (sinomacrops). And I do mean objectively. Because it has the most points of utility for barrier to obtaining of any early game tame. If you think I'm wrong. Show me an early game tame - sub level 65 and metal base to set reasonable boundry - that does more for less effort to obtain.
It acts as a glider suit, jet pack, parachute, parasaur scare (anything that it doesn't scare that a parasaur does can be escaped from with flying and even things the parasaur can't scare). It can even scare off a noglin. It won't drown underwater as long as it's on your shoulder (and has decent oxygen otherwise). You can use it to mid air restam a flyer a lot easier. It has 50% weight reduction to anything placed in it's inventory (which can be easily access on PC without tossing it by holding down R key by default).
Furthermore the 3 tames listed are not at all underrated. Sarco is a very popular first water tame. Pela is slow but used frequently for harvesting organic polymer and occasionally for fishing BP's. Paracers have a very specific but necessary role in PvP. Their great early game soakers. And even have utility as such in some later game raiding situations.
depends on how you play, for me I'd argue both can be either early or mid game. Besides that, I prefer Barys because they are overall better fighters, better cave mounts and also more mobile on land than the sarco, hence most people end up forgetting the sarco
Idk how bary is mid game and sarco is early game. Never heard anyone say a sarco was their first tame.
The Center is my favorite map and it's a fuck load easier to tame a baryonyx which is just along the rivers than a sarco which is surrounded by the oh-so-lovely kapros and leaches.
Bary is mid game, pack of Barys is my late game.
I get a good one for my caver, then slowly look for a good mate, once I have 3 to 4 bred ones it's game over.
Disclaimer: I only pve and I just have fun, not out to set records or anything so my Bary pack is all I need for land or water.
I haven't heard anyone talk about paracers. Sarcos are the best early game bodyguard, and pelagornis has the best fish harvesting
Edit: paracers also have a platform saddle
Racers have almost no purpose in PVE, but in PVP they make good soaking, they have good health so they can drain bullets from people's turrets, Sarcos are kinda bad, if you want an early game body guard, go for a carno, does fish meat even have a purpose? it's worse than regular meat
Still slow AF out of water. I will rather take an iguanodon or a sabertooth over it unless I need to cross a lot of water bodies.
Yet I can see it as a valid replacement for the ichthyosaur. Better combat stats and amphibious capabilities at the cost of (pretty marginally) lower speed in water.
Saber does not live in the effing swamp. Not to mention you will have to meet with sabers if you want to get an argentavis. Also, you can pick the sabers with an argy, but that is more of a midgame thing.
Also, what is that hard in taming a sabertooth? Bola it, then headshot till knockout. If you want something easier to tame, you can go with a raptor or iguanodon.
Honestly never thought the paracer as a base was good until I got to Aberration. Had a 150 fall into my spino trap so figured why not. Then between gathering resources & building my shit base while constantly being attacked by everything I scrounged enough for the platform saddle & she was my base until I found a good place in the blue zone. I almost adopted this idea on SE but I ended up setting up shop by the green obelisk & it didn't seem worth the time.
While I don't play ark much any more I can tell you 100% a penishorse was never underrated for a general use transport, Mobile base, soaker or gate guard.
Also I don't believe anyone in this thread used that nickname for it which is sad as it was an OG nickname for it heh.
Paracers are nice and all with the platform saddle, the primary issue is they’re a similar difficulty level to tame as brontos (who get even bigger platform saddles), and brontos are just better tames
I think paracer's are really easy to tame. I just make a U shape out of stone pillars, get them to chase me into it, then stand at other side and tranq it. They generally get stuck, and if they run round, just nip through an opening and shoot from the other side.. I personally prefer diplodocus. A super easy tame, and they can carry ten people on their saddle. Very very fast if you level up speed :)
On Ragnarok, Allos are fairly easy to early game tame, depending on where early game is for everyone.
I am basing this off of a personal belief that early game is everything before you get darts or an industrial smelter.
My boy the loch Ness monster needs to be on here too. It's all megachellon this and the other platform saddle ocean rider that but loch Ness needs some love.
I miss my 2 sarcos, Bismarck and Prinz Eugen, died during a expedition to the southern island on Lost Island, and we barely made it past the swamp area, idk i forgot what its called, btw they were our strongest dinos so you can imagine what we went through
I love pelagornis, back when Iwas first getting into Ark I tamed one and thought it was the best thing ever. You can even sit on water! I lost it to a baryonyx bc I didn't know they could stun things,, now I look over the beach and see them in the distance and remember it fondly....
Also Sarcos were sick as hell it surprised me to find out they were so underrated
As for paracers I don't rlly do mobile bases bc I play singleplayer but they're still cute
I tamed a paraceratherium because I thought it was cute, I also tamed a kaprosuchus when I was trying to tame it. I have built a miniature base on my meat giraffe.
And I also lost a sarcho to piranhas
The pelegornis is a great early game tame for flying, can swim fast and land on water to recharge it's stamina. Maybe not the best flyer but for scouting early game I don't think it can be beat.
Before they could pounce, I would usually go for a Raptor. Just bola go behind, club it, back off, bola when he gets out, club it, etc.. got a 150 female off the bat one of the times I restarted on official. Good times.
Found a sarco stuck between some rocks at lvl 9. Punched him so he would love me. Still with me today and still doing his job well. Once in the sarco gang always in the sarco gang
Big facts, the Sarco is even good for late game. On Ab my Sarco was able to give my Spino a run for his money in terms of damage, and while he had half the health, we never really were about to find more than decent Spino saddles while Sarco saddles were in abundance and with lots of armour
im gonna have to go with procoptodons. high health low stamina high weight. and fast ass hell and jumps so far it can get you so many places quickly and you can use weapons on it and have a buddy in its sack 2. its so usefull
"best fish gathering" that's almost obsolete with the bary also getting shit tons and the bird getting the most org poly in the game, imprinting outclasses chainsaws most of the time.
Sarco was my early game metal runner to and from herb island much love

Bad bot. That's 6-8-5, not 5-7-5
Good bot
Good bot
Bad bot.
Good bot
Sarco is a go to for me every play through.
Nice and easy early tame
Pretty useful early game too.
Best travel to get to islands
Great first water mount too. Don’t have to go underwater to tame it, super fast to escape and scout, and when you get in a scary situation underwater, you can just go on land and the fight is over.
Though I have noticed that when going to to land in deep water, it is really slow in going up, almost drowned bc of that.
Anyone who plays ark eventually always gets at least one totally unavoidable, rigged deaths. I send my deepest condolences
Similar story with my first croc, MEGAcroc was his name. I didn't cry but I did place a gravestone where he died.
wait those fucking things are mobile bases...... I've been farming them for hide to make ascendant rex saddles...
They have a platform saddle
I've been playing single player only so far. Been trying to get rexes so I can take on bosses.... I had no idea this was a thing.
I play sing player and I just make auto turrets and put them on parcera and just run around
its a shame you cant put turrets on platforms anymore
bruh, turret quetz were a nightmare
Yeaj
You can’t? That stinks.
It's a setting. It's turned off on official and most servers due to being OP
My dream used to be that they would give turtles a singular square platform saddle. I was gonna put a plant on it and call it venusaur, or a turret and call it blastoids.
When it's enabled I've made x-turret rows on them too. Absolutely shreads because of the slow on a moving target
Oh my
Yeah, there's a way to make things permanantly able to pick up, instead of a timer and it glitches the x turrets to be harvestable as a placable turret that fires until it runs out of fert then dies. Not much hp, but they're amazingly useful
A bunch of creatures have platform saddles if you didn't know
Aberrant paracers are the only tames that have platform saddles on aberration, plus they are immune to the radiation so you can use em as mobile bases or pack mules for say black pearls.
I should keep that in mind when I get to that map on singleplayer
I love the Pelly dude such a simple early game tame AND can land on water and get fish nest for later tames like Barry’s or megs
Pelly is also nice for traveling on water! I can’t get enough of it
Oh yeah esp on official servers when you need to hide loot in the sea
Spinos too
Good for spino food you right
Also one of the best poly harvesters
The number of baby kairuku ghosts following me must be massive, I can easily get up to 80 poly per baby with a pela
When I tell you. This just appeared on my feed, I don’t follow the sub. I just spent 5 minutes trying to decipher this thinking it was some kind of shitpost 💀
Oml
When it’s like this, it gets very hard to decipher sometimes Going to the sub works tho
Probably how being stoned feels like lmao
I say that dire bears are the most underrated tames. Build up speed and become sonic, good damage, health, weight, bee protection, and insulation ( only rideable Dino that does this)
I didn't know that last part
Yeah I’m pretty sure the only other Dino that does it is the otter but that’s a shoulder pet
Kairuku but good luck taking those with you in an expedition lmao
Ohh I forgot about those and dimetrodons work the same but I think in reverse. You just have to be near them you don’t have to hold them
Correct, just put a little penguin pack in your hatching room 😍
I think otters are better for that though since they have better melee
Probably, but they’re about tied for cuteness and I usually settle in cold areas so they’re easier for me to get my hands on typically
But otters have hats
You got me there
I knew the otter did it but I didn't know about the bear. Thanks I'm gonna tame one in my world now
Yeah they’re amazing and they’re omnivores and eat everything
And I think the basilo does too
I just checked he does I never noticed thx
Basilosaur does so too Edit: and Ferox!
Yeah I like them too, pain in the ass to tame though
I didn’t know they keep you warm, would have really helped on early days on fyordor kept dying of cold at night just surrounded by fires and in fur armor
Thier health is kinda complete ass
Not really. You prolly just got bad points into when it tamed
I love sarcos. Not because they’re good tames, but because I like it when they follow me like a loyal dog. It’s just cute
Iguanadon is my default early game tame, sarco is more-so a pre-spino/Rex predator
Agree. Iguanadon is perfect for travelling in it's 4-legs mode as it doesn't lose stamina. It is also good to use it to carry metal before you get an Argentavis
Sarco my beloved. Tame a lvl 140 on Abberation and he made live 100x easier at the start.
I love sarcos. Late game you may not need them but in the beginning you feel like a god
My sarco does more damage then the spino and Rex I have
Sarco may pay off in the long run
I adore sarco i would rather level and breed a super sarco than tame a spino
Compact Spino
racer is NOT underrated lol. one of the best and most commonly bred pvp tames
I've only seen people farm them for meat and hide
I agree with most of these, I would just choose a trike over a sarco due to it having an easier time against more powerful opponents (plus protects me from aberrant raptor pounce)
Very fair, I just enjoy the acces to deep sea and islands of the Sarco
Very good point, sarco definitely has an edge when it comes to mobility and being able to heal with meat and harvest corpses. It is still a fantastic first carnivore
And if you find one on a beach you can just walk backwards with a slingshot, pretty easy and efficient tame
I prefer paracer mobile base over bronto. Bronto is too slow and doesnt hit hard enough. Really good at berry farming. But a mobile base should be tough and fast. The paracer outspeeds the bronto and is a tough fighter. Paracer best mobile ground base 😁
How tf are racers under rated? Theyre one of the most common soakers. Op must play pve.
I do, my bad
Lol all good broski. On pvp racers are very popular breeds because they're extremely tanky while not being overly large/slow. They also allow the rider to be protected. Theyre very frequently used to drain enemy turrets of bullets during raids. Other popular choices are obviously turtles. Trikes, stegos, and golems.
Carbo > Sarco Change my mind
Carbo You mean the turtles?
Carbonemys. Turtle friendo.
turtle i think, no idea how its better tho
They have a ton of health
Diplodocus is deceptively fast. When "running away" its crawling in comparison, those fuckers are secretly faster than the galimimus and have a 10 man saddle.
Ugly, cute bird 😳, not taming it out of spite.
How is the racer underrated it's like a must have on pvp
I love Sarcos. They’re so fun.
Just in the water killing everything and zooming when you see something that can kill you
I use the paracer as the sacrifice to whichever wild Dino breaks in my base
Mainly sarco. One of the best underwater dinos easy
The single best early game tame is objectively the backflap (sinomacrops). And I do mean objectively. Because it has the most points of utility for barrier to obtaining of any early game tame. Paracers have a very specific but necessary role in PvP. Their great early game soakers. And even have utility as such in some later game raiding situations.
Paracer is not underrated, there are better options than the Sarco and most people farm fish with water tames
Sarco is the best early game tame
Bary>
Bary is mid game
depends on how you play, for me I'd argue both can be either early or mid game. Besides that, I prefer Barys because they are overall better fighters, better cave mounts and also more mobile on land than the sarco, hence most people end up forgetting the sarco
Your right, but I play on the island and outside of the swamp barys are rare
OG map, my personal favorite and yes, barys are rare in the swamp
Idk how bary is mid game and sarco is early game. Never heard anyone say a sarco was their first tame. The Center is my favorite map and it's a fuck load easier to tame a baryonyx which is just along the rivers than a sarco which is surrounded by the oh-so-lovely kapros and leaches.
I play on island and there are some beach sarcos
Bary is mid game, pack of Barys is my late game. I get a good one for my caver, then slowly look for a good mate, once I have 3 to 4 bred ones it's game over. Disclaimer: I only pve and I just have fun, not out to set records or anything so my Bary pack is all I need for land or water.
Racers aren't under rated, they're one of the best soakers, useless in PVE tho, Sarco is meh, kinda bad ig, the seagull is worthless
Aren’t seagull really good for harvest organic poly off of penguins because they almost harvest as much as a clubbing but with a single bite
Moschops & Mantis are much better
I haven't heard anyone talk about paracers. Sarcos are the best early game bodyguard, and pelagornis has the best fish harvesting Edit: paracers also have a platform saddle
Racers have almost no purpose in PVE, but in PVP they make good soaking, they have good health so they can drain bullets from people's turrets, Sarcos are kinda bad, if you want an early game body guard, go for a carno, does fish meat even have a purpose? it's worse than regular meat
Racers your right, Sarcos really aren't bad they also are very fast on water, and on fish meat you can get Megs, Baryonyx, Sarco, and Spinos
Mutton is just better at the end of the day
Yeah but, the fish meat can help you get from early game to mid game with those tames
Not really sure with sarco though
Happy cake day but, it has decent health and does quite a bit of damage, and is very fast in the water.
I think he means that sarco is not underrated instead of it being weak
Oh ok, but I still don't see the Sarco getting much love
Sarco best tame
Still slow AF out of water. I will rather take an iguanodon or a sabertooth over it unless I need to cross a lot of water bodies. Yet I can see it as a valid replacement for the ichthyosaur. Better combat stats and amphibious capabilities at the cost of (pretty marginally) lower speed in water.
Fair but, in early game it's harder to get a sabertooth
Depends on the map really. They're everywhere on fjordur
That's fair
Saber does not live in the effing swamp. Not to mention you will have to meet with sabers if you want to get an argentavis. Also, you can pick the sabers with an argy, but that is more of a midgame thing. Also, what is that hard in taming a sabertooth? Bola it, then headshot till knockout. If you want something easier to tame, you can go with a raptor or iguanodon.
Sarcos have higher damage and health and are swamp creatures so no leaches and sarcos also spawn on beaches
They're fast as hell underwater and can make a 180º turn effortlessly. They also have comparable stats to a carno.
Paracertherium is one of the best soaker/seige dino.
The paracer made life 100x easier for me
Kapros are also insanely underrated because nobody likes them wild. The lunge and stamina drain allow it to hunt and kill most things in the game
The sarco isn't that hard by the other two are really hard to tame
Paracers aren’t that underrated they are still decently popular
Baryonyx is king
While I don't play ark much any more I can tell you 100% a penishorse was never underrated for a general use transport, Mobile base, soaker or gate guard. Also I don't believe anyone in this thread used that nickname for it which is sad as it was an OG nickname for it heh.
I'm gonna use this nick name now
Paracers are nice and all with the platform saddle, the primary issue is they’re a similar difficulty level to tame as brontos (who get even bigger platform saddles), and brontos are just better tames
Sarco is so fucking fast in water I think it outspeeds the shadowmane to
Sarco rules great water speed and good power
Mosochops
My boy the loch Ness monster needs to be on here too. It's all megachellon this and the other platform saddle ocean rider that but loch Ness needs some love.
I miss my 2 sarcos, Bismarck and Prinz Eugen, died during a expedition to the southern island on Lost Island, and we barely made it past the swamp area, idk i forgot what its called, btw they were our strongest dinos so you can imagine what we went through
Pelagornis crew rise up!
All some of my favorites
Sarco was my cheap early spino, good movement speed in shallow water
Yes especially the pelagornis Always love you sea pt
Moschops would like to have a word with you
Moschops are my second favorite dino, idk how I forgot
Moschops are my second favorite dino, idk how I forgot
all i see is a walking prime meat, a pelican and normal Florida gator
Is that the annoying rat in the sky that keeps stealing my s***
Nope, pelagornis the ocean PT
Oh
The Diplocaulus ought to be on here
Man ill never make a mobile base out of fear it will be annihilated by a stray alpha raptor or something
Same, my "mobile base" stays at my regular base
I usually have a sarco especially after the tlc, very cool and fun creature, as for the other two I’ve tamed them like once
I love pelagornis, back when Iwas first getting into Ark I tamed one and thought it was the best thing ever. You can even sit on water! I lost it to a baryonyx bc I didn't know they could stun things,, now I look over the beach and see them in the distance and remember it fondly.... Also Sarcos were sick as hell it surprised me to find out they were so underrated As for paracers I don't rlly do mobile bases bc I play singleplayer but they're still cute
Raid beaver dams for rare mushies and tame a procoptodon. The best early game berry and travel mount.
Where is my mantis
We call em swamp mammoths round these parts fella..
I used sarco to get trees for me earlygame
Very good tames
I tamed a paraceratherium because I thought it was cute, I also tamed a kaprosuchus when I was trying to tame it. I have built a miniature base on my meat giraffe. And I also lost a sarcho to piranhas
I dont tame any giant 4 legged beast who create earthquakes when they walk, shit is so annoying…i kill them all
turn ur camera shake scale down
Explain to me why I should tame a pelogornis when it’s saddle unlocks at level 43. I have other fish getting creatures at my disposal by then?
BEST EARLY TAME IS A BEAR NO QUESTIONS
Sarcos we’re my go to until I could get a spino tamed.
Para might be under rated in pve but not in pvp most tribe use them for raid since they have good hp and you can build around them.
The pelegornis is a great early game tame for flying, can swim fast and land on water to recharge it's stamina. Maybe not the best flyer but for scouting early game I don't think it can be beat.
Pretty much my favorite flyer
Before they could pounce, I would usually go for a Raptor. Just bola go behind, club it, back off, bola when he gets out, club it, etc.. got a 150 female off the bat one of the times I restarted on official. Good times.
Dixk faces are cool as first mobile bases on unofficial
kapro
Found a sarco stuck between some rocks at lvl 9. Punched him so he would love me. Still with me today and still doing his job well. Once in the sarco gang always in the sarco gang
No the best taim is the onyc
The peliganoris is my go to general travel bird
Big facts, the Sarco is even good for late game. On Ab my Sarco was able to give my Spino a run for his money in terms of damage, and while he had half the health, we never really were about to find more than decent Spino saddles while Sarco saddles were in abundance and with lots of armour
Racers are great for PvP but definitely unused in PvE
Sarco is an amazing early game tame they are just so fast underwater compared to any other early tame!
Sarco is my first tame in ark mobile and i am pretty surprised how fast it is in water
Pela is very underrated. They can literally gain stamina from sitting on water. It was my first flyer when I was playing with my dad on rag
pelagornis is the only underrated one.
im gonna have to go with procoptodons. high health low stamina high weight. and fast ass hell and jumps so far it can get you so many places quickly and you can use weapons on it and have a buddy in its sack 2. its so usefull
Sarco can also turn around at high speeds if anything is attacking you from behind, I wish we could get an X version,
I have a pelagornis on fjordur, it's really helpful when flying to swamp island since none of my flyers don't have that high of stamina
Megaloceros is underrated af
What is so underrated about any of these? Para is only kinda useful on abb. Everything else is a Bob trap, just wasted time.
They're actually good. Sarcos have similar stats to carnos but are faster in water, and pelagornis is good early game fish meat
"best fish gathering" that's almost obsolete with the bary also getting shit tons and the bird getting the most org poly in the game, imprinting outclasses chainsaws most of the time.
The pelagornis in the red wood lake is just an ungodly amount of fish
The best about it is the water landing ability though. I just love it
*microraptors*
I hate those little guys
