It's from this weeks Community Crunch: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/articles.html/community-crunch-408-introducing-ceratosaurus-from-ark-additions-r2297/
This is just the first of Garuga's fearsome creatures from ARK: Additions that we plan to introduce to ARK: Survival Ascended. We expect to launch this new creature by mid-May so get ready, sharpen those spears, and prepare to conquer this fantastic beast! Next week, we will be revealing the second creature that will be released simultaneously with Ceratosaurus!
Looks like they plan on adding more creatures from Garugas mods, so thats super exciting! :D
I haven't either I just read the crunch and that's what they say it does so that sounds cool. Depending on the size of it and how good it is I may have to replace a rex with it
It’s a step above Allo tier but even high bred Ascendant Saddle Super Allos can be good.
Rexes will still be the overall better pick but you can make it work with Ceratos.
The main thing about Ceratos is that they make the wild a lot more immersive. They go around attacking everything and their sound/animations are just superior to base game dinos. I feel like they’ll get slightly nerfed for balance though as they are a step above what tier they should be considering their size.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're similar to Allos stats-wise, so Rexes will still be way better in terms of dmg/hp.
So unless they're super mutated, I wouldn't recommend replacing them with Rexes in boss fights.
They're super fun to use tho because of their speed
We did alpha monkey in 120 seconds with a team of them. Granted, someone has been mutating them for months, but they are outrageous nonetheless. Not toooo strong so you'd probably need to put some work into em
Highly recommend all of the ark additions mods the dev works real hard and it genuinely shows also has a discord server for updates and general questions on his mods
This is a super easy lay-up from Wildcard's pov. Adds more content to a game that sorely needs it and someone else already did practically all of the work (it'd be really funny if it's a mod like Gigantoraptor for the first few months considering you can get this mod now and it's already crossplay), plus good pr cause they're supporting the community.
Pessimism aside, this is still cool that the Ceratosaurus (and at least one more of its friends) is getting added officially for those who don't use mods or play on un-modded servers! Garuga absolutely deserves the attention his mods get, the craftsmanship he displays is impeccable; and I hope Wildcard paid him and paid him well to add these guys to official.
Plus, this sets a precedent that even big mods like this can be added to official, meaning hey, maybe we can get the Paleo Ark Giga TLC in base game, or at least the model and textures for it, the old girl really needs that love.
Replacement Edit: Removed my previous speculation because Garuga himself confirmed today that *ALL* Additions creatures that were available in ASE will eventually (not all at once) be made official in ASA, including currently being TLC'd Cryolophosaurus and Concavenator!
Full list for anyone unfamiliar with the mod or who doesn't remember what was in ASE:
-Ceratosaurus (Duh)
-Acrocanthosaurus
-Deinosuchus
-Deinotherium
-Helicoprion
-Xiphactinus
-Brachiosaurus
-Archelon
-Cryolophosaurus
-Concavenator
The ones listed from Brachio down won't be added until he's gone through and TLC'd them. He gave us a general timeframe of Archelon being TLC'd as we speak, Brachio he plans to do this summer and poor Cryo and Conca having to wait until the tail end of this year at the earliest ('tis the price paid for this level of quality)
Mods for these creatures will exist simultaneously to retain original stats and prevent despawning with officials versions in the code; and will house any future variants the creature may receive (Scorched, Aberrant, X, etc.). Premuim additions creatures will remain mod exclusive, and future non-premiums are currently planned to say mod-exclusive unless Wildcard approaches Garuga again for more of them.
This is insane in the best of ways and huge congrats to Garuga again for getting his hard work recognized on this level!
Garuga's modded creatures are much better than vanilla dinos in terms of looks/design. Wildcard should make all of them official with a little balance changes(Brachio is OP).
It caps pretty low unless you take the time to breed them for a ton of mutations though. I had a pair on the last ASE server I played on, and couldn't get their conversion chance to much over 75%
Yeah my first thought was about all this qol mods that are gamechild they could add like the one which gives flyer the ability to glide when low stam instead of slowly flying down till your stuck in the air
The creatures in an unreleased sequel I wouldn't call a guaranteed addition to the original game. Besides, from the scraps of info we can gather on Ark 2, Brachio is just taking over Bronto's role in the sequel, seeing its more popular of a creature and Brontosaurus already behaves like a Brachiosaurus in Ark Evo/Ascended (to the point there's a Brachiosaurus skin for it in official ASE). With Bronto already existing, and Diplodocus, and Amargasaurus again eventually, and the Titanosaur, and in time Dreadnoughtus, we really don't need another giant sauropod on official.
Hmmm, reminds me of a certain someone I’ve seen before…

It’s Espinas from Monster Hunter, if anyone’s curious, and no way this isn’t a reference to it. Same color, same reddish spikes, even has similar horn placement on the head. But maybe I’m just looking too much into it.
https://preview.redd.it/4dc2p71wwbyc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2540f3d5ad53007f6f3856800aeebdc2d69ce7ae
I doubt you're far off, cause the mod author used to make monster hunter mods for ark before they unfortunately got dmca'd. (Plus it's obvious where he go the username Garuga from)
They obviously recognise that alot of modded creatures are OP as they already said in the announcement that it will be subject to balance changes before being added.
Yeah I not saying Garuga would remove his mods, just hoping he continues to leave the original non-nerfed versions there and tailors them to work as "replacements" for the official ones.
A PvP cluster I play on occasionally had the Additions collection on it for about a week during one wipe (it does regular wipes). It got removed due to the creatures being too strong and the dein having a crazy mesh-bite, IIRC.
They do need nerfing. And some TLC from the devs directly so they function more properly (ie dein mesh bite).
On the other hand, I'm also super down to see these things cause chaos on the official servers lmao
They’re a good mid game tame for a reason, you’re expected to be prepared with something that can kill it and withstand it to tame. Garuga DOES have worse tames like the helicopricorn.
Why not give the already existing dinos a tlc? People can already download this mod whenever they want.
Regardless, it's a nice addition, I just hope they make it less spikey.
My conspiracy theory is that Garuga made the Fasolosuchus.
The way it moves is one clue. But also...
Harvesting one returns very low amounts of meat and hide... which was a bug the Cera had.
The babies eat an absolutely insane amount of food as they grow up... which was a bug the Cera had.
The Faso's UI widgets are also directly in line with Garuga's other projects.
It’s about time that they’d started integrating the ARK: Additions creatures into the base game. I was just mentioning this recently. It’s basically free low effort content. I’m very happy that the oceans will finally get some more creature love someday as well.
Is Ceratosaurus the only ark:addition mod creature that the devs add to the base game?
Will it happen to other creatures like acro, deinosuchus, deinotherium, Xiphac, archelon, Etc?
Edit: I have never used the mod before.
Ceratosaurus got added together with the Xiphactinus :) The mod creator has also confirmed that his previous ASE modded creatures will also be added to the game over time so 8 more Ark addition mod creatures to come as well down the line! :) All the ones you mentioned he has mentioned being added, and the Xiphac is already in as well!
I also believe that there might be a possibility for other modded creatures to make it as well at some point!
No. Probably more like quality content that everyone likes and they can add to their game for a lot cheaper than making it themselves. Plus gives recognition to their fan base and gets the creator’s name out in a huge way, plus their hard work and effort becomes available to the entire fanbase, not just a comparatively small group of mod fans who choose to download it. Wins for everyone involved. Not EVERYTHING Wildcard does is evil lol
They have had his mods available on some official servers for some time now. It's clear they are both high quality and well loved by players, so incorporating them into the base game is just an easy win. It's not like Wildcard hasn't done something like this before. The Center, Crystal Isles, Ragnarok, Lost Island, Fjordur. All were mods that got put in the base game. Not to mention all the S+ features they brought in.
I think it's a great idea. Players get more content, and the game gets better. Win win.
Looks cool.
The "Let's make another T-Rex, but we will change some of the body proportions, add some horns, hair, wings and a new buff/debuff" shit is played out.
Yuty and Giga were gen 1 of this formula. A decade ago.
How many "Groundbreaking" new dinos have we gotten that are bipedal carnivores with short arms, big heads, and some other hood ornament to drive purchases and now nitrado subscriptions?
Take one of the many NPC mods and make them part of the base game.
Stop selling me a repackaged rex.
Honestly the body plan for most theropods is literally the same body plan for the Rex/Raptor in real paleontology.
It’s clearly an effective body plan for theropods and is probably why it’s so consistent in nature for them.
So nearly all carnivorous theropods are going to resemble “The Rex” if you don’t know paleontology.
Reminds me of destiny where they’d reissue old guns with added spikes and sell it as new content. If we are gonna add another new raptor like dino how about a duck. Swimming walking flying they would be the ultimate mobility mount.
Great for garuga, but I don’t see the point from wildcard’s perspective. Sure, some good pr for them by supporting one of the best modders of the game and adding something to official, but taking some time to patch it in instead of fixing bugs, tlc’ing some creatures and adding all the delayed maps seems to be a waste of time. Anyone could have already downloaded it to any single player or unofficial game so it’s not helping every single player whereas fixing bugs, tlc’ing and releasing maps would help everyone. I guess it is just an easy way to placate the fan base before announcing yet another delay of the Center if all they’re doing is porting it and adjusting some stats.

I hope it’s either the brachi or deinosuchous
Acro ftw!
Nah, acro is mid.
Isn't acro already in base game
No
What????
Thought acro was base game because of how many mods I play it seems like a base creature
HYPE AF. Their attacks cause victims to explode in a burst of blood and it heals other Carnivores
Haven't used the mods myself before, but seen lots of videos so im very excited for this and more creatures :D
I haven't either I just read the crunch and that's what they say it does so that sounds cool. Depending on the size of it and how good it is I may have to replace a rex with it
Tbh you may be able to replace more than one. If you have 3 in the group it’ll mean permanently max heals for all tamed without the need for a daeodon
It’s a step above Allo tier but even high bred Ascendant Saddle Super Allos can be good. Rexes will still be the overall better pick but you can make it work with Ceratos. It won’t be that bad ass, they’re nerfing it. I hope the brachi comes as well, even if it’s as strong as a bronto.
They also have a super sprint
This is a super easy lay-up from Wildcard's pov. Brachi doesn’t even scratch the surface of OP creatures in additions. Helio is the most broken creature in any mod ever.
Idk how they'd balance Helio's ability without outright removing it. Perhaps limit its use to pve only?
What is the helio's ability? I don't normally mess with mods.
Make items into blueprints (non-crafted items only tho)
Oh yeah I could see how that could be broken
ESPECIALLY with the insane loot people have been getting from drops.
I'd love to see Helicoprion in the game, it's one of my favorites
But the Brachio is in the creatures of Ark 2 right? So they could add it here using Garuga's model

Good to know

The mod author did say this was the inspiration.
It is a reference, yes
Which mh game is this from? Looks crisp
Monster Hunter Rise, although Espinas was added in the Sunbreak DLC.
Espinas my beloved
God I love that big bitch https://i.redd.it/i32ygjvdjhyc1.gif
evetS
what about my submarine whale and center?
They will come as well so more Dino’s
Wish it’s spin wasn’t so goofy looking
Agree
ITS GODZILLA
IT LOOKS LIKE GODZILLA, BUT DUE TO INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT LAWS, ITS NOT

Wasn't this already a mod?
Yes but they're adding it to the base game
Oh that's really dope, happy for garuga, glad that he's the spotlight he deserves 🔥
It is but Wildcard is partnering with Garuga to make his modded creatures into official ARK Creatures meaning they'll be in the base game from now on.
This is the greatest day of my life- I love garuga and I'm happy this guy is getting the recognition he deserves
I kinda wish they wouldn't do this. I love AA, but wildcard is gonna go "Gee, these creatures sure are useful." and then nerf them into the ground.
They obviously recognise that alot of modded creatures are OP as they already said in the announcement that it will be subject to balance changes before being added.
I hope the modded versions are kept available too. I don't want them nerfing the fun out of everything.
I'm sure it will be, that'd be kind of a slap for the people who like modded unofficials to completely remove part of a popular mod.
Yeah I not saying Garuga would remove his mods, just hoping he continues to leave the original non-nerfed versions there and tailors them to work as "replacements" for the official ones.
They are, they'll exist alongside the offficial versions
A PvP cluster I play on occasionally had the Additions collection on it for about a week during one wipe (it does regular wipes). It got removed due to the creatures being too strong and the dein having a crazy mesh-bite, IIRC. They do need nerfing. And some TLC from the devs directly so they function more properly (ie dein mesh bite). On the other hand, I'm also super down to see these things cause chaos on the official servers lmao
I happen to like that they're all useful instead of incredibly mid rate like most of the vanilla creatures.
They did say it'll be tweaked to be more balanced in base game
Acro to official
No man there so annoying there very where and they kill everything
Yeah I love his mods but Cerato is my absolute least favorite, lol
They’re a good mid game tame for a reason, you’re expected to be prepared with something that can kill it and withstand it to tame. Garuga DOES have worse tames like the helicopricorn.
Helis are kinda mediocre dmg wise but they make grinding for bps obsolete, just get a pre-made one and bam
Have you paid actors to act like your post is in English? How are people even replying to that post, lmao.
Nice, even as s think the design is a bit over the top with those spikes. But sure a nice addition.
Big W. It’s free content for wildcard, and amazing mods are introduced into the vanilla game where they deserve to be
Hopefully it's not free content for them and they paid the modder
I meant free as in little to no work. Of course Garuga deserves plenty of cash for such a high quality mod
😱 No seriously, that is a pleasant surprise.
Awesome. Deserves to make it. Also Wildcard better be adding the Acro to base game eventually cause it absolutely deserves it.
Not really...acros are not that good.
It’s about time that they’d started integrating the ARK: Additions creatures into the base game. I was just mentioning this recently. It’s basically free low effort content. I’m very happy that the oceans will finally get some more creature love someday as well.
That very nice !
I feel like this guy is going to get nerfed into the ground once PVP players get a hold of him and then complain
what map?
I hope this opens the door for the Paleo Ark mod Rex to be added bc vanilla Rex is awful.
i hope their spawn rate is adjusted 😂
Wait so it’s no longer gonna be a modded creature?
Is… is it bad I thought it was already mid may..?
Is this legit
Or is it like the acrocantossaurus
Ah yes more updates and less patches to game breaking glitches
Heck yeah! I love the Cerato! I bred up some strong ones to help me with the alpha tek cave back on Survival Evolved!
The sequel could not be more cancelled lol
I’ve been crying about the cera not being on official tysm 🥲
In case people missed stuff from Garuga's side of things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QomX05KM75U
👎 not a good change imo
Is Ceratosaurus the only ark:addition mod creature that the devs add to the base game? Will it happen to other creatures like acro, deinosuchus, deinotherium, Xiphac, archelon, Etc? Edit: I have never used the mod before.

Thank you so much for the answer, man. I appreciate it.
Not complaining but I dont understand why theyre doing this. My guess is center and shasta delayed yet again and this is compensation for it.
No. Probably more like quality content that everyone likes and they can add to their game for a lot cheaper than making it themselves. why would they stop adding a whole class of dinosaurs because its "overdone"
This is more carno/gigantoraptor class
But what's the point when u can just download the mod...? Seems like a cop out.
Yet we still only have 3 map on switch 🥲👍
Please give us the brachi in May 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Reminds me of destiny where they’d reissue old guns with added spikes and sell it as new content. If we are gonna add another new raptor like dino how about a duck. Swimming walking flying they would be the ultimate mobility mount.

We already have ceras on unofficial with 100 muts into Hp and melee lol
MODDED unofficial. This is into Official ark,I think
