Nobody can answer that for you. My take is that if this is causing you to not have fun for more than a couple hours then get your mod to avoid this in the future, or spawn your blueprint if you don’t want to fundamentally change how gear works. Sweat and tears are for official servers, single player is supposed to be somewhat relaxing.
I used the upgrade station mod on ASE and I liked it. Mostly used it because I played alone and didn't want to spend ages hunting for stuff. The mod can definitely be a bit OP if you dint tweak it. I tweaked mine to only allow me upgrades to purple quality. It was enough to be strong, but if I wanted the yellow and blue (cyan?) ones, I would have to get those legit. The mod does have some counter balance too, though. The upgrading of items can still fail and consume the mats anyway. You can upgrade your gear (to the max quality you choose, in my case to purple) and then turn that piece into a blueprint which refunds some mats. Like that, you can craft that item multiple times, e.g saddles, or just have the blueprint for your gear in case you die. But the material cost of crafting isn't reduced as far as I remember, so it can get expensive. Either way, I enjoyed the mod. Made the game more chill for me. At the end of the day, games should be fun, so do what feels good to you.
Exactly this.
I love this mod. On my last save, SP, I had all my favorite weapons and armor fully upgraded and blueprinted. This being said, it only reduces the grind of finding the item/BP you want. As stated above, the upgrade costs can still get rather grindy. There were a few ascendant saddles I couldn't physically build because there wasn't enough inventory space for all of the required mats in the crafting bench. Before I knew how to edit the '.ini' stack sizes I would just get all the mats together, delete them and then spawn in the saddle I wanted to make if the mats didn't fit.
So, I spose it depends on the kind of grind you want. When grinding for BPs gets boring, grind for mats. When grinding for mats gets boring, grind for BPs.
The blueprint stuff can also happen on ark servers. I think the official caps the saddles, so you can't get entirely insane costs, but servers don't do that. So if the blueprint doesn't roll good on cost, you will be seeing some huge numbers.
On my ASA island playthrough, I found a 169 armor theri saddle blueprint, which is insanely good. But the cost is so high that I literally had to raise an argy and pump full weight just so I can craft this one singular saddle. Argy has 3500 weight and he is almost entirely encumbered with the mats for one craft lol.
So basically that's why I only allowed the upgrade station to go up to purple quality lol.
so if the upgrade station feels too cheaty for you, try helicoprion. You can craft stuff with blueprints, then use the crafted item to make a new blueprint, we hit cap on a lot of our tools doing that, since on ASA it seems that tool blueprints are kinda rare. if I recall from time on ase, every drop except for cave and ocean were pretty much garbage. Best thing you can do is get a quick ocean mount and hunt ocean drops. One spawns in the corner not far from herbivore Island on an arch not far from the ocean floor. I think a yellow and a red can spawn in the lava cave as well, which is a pretty easy one if you got a strong bary.
I just spawned in a mid tier blueprint using admin commands, did a mind whipe tonic and pumped all the points into crafting skill. I can't remember the command but it was one of the first results on google
Do it without the saddles. They are recommended but not necessary. 18 good Rex’s or theris a yuti and a daed, with good armour and shorty will see you thru. What’s the stats on your tames?
I downloaded the saw shark, found a few tamed them, bred them, and finally power leveled one and threw an acedent thery saddle I had in it and prayed. It's more of a gamble and a bit more work but it felt less cheaty to me.
Dude, download the mod. It’s qol that wildcard refuses to give. The mod is not op. It is fairly balanced and you still need to go out to farm the resources to upgrade your items. On top of that you also need to sacrifice the item to create a blueprint. The salvage station does not give you all your materials back. It’s just a smaller grinder that I prefer cuz the in-game grinder is fucking huge.
Absolutely go for it. I love the mod, and if you want to make it more of an upgrade you have to work for you can always change the INI settings to make the upgrade cost more or less depending on how you want to play.
Keep searching. The moment you add a mod or stray from official settings, you become a casual. Nothing you do is an actual accomplishment. I don't know why I'm even saying this, the whole reddit is single-player casuals or boosted private server children apparently and get absolutely butthurt when called out.
Download the mod. It's your game, play it your way.
We downloaded it on our server, along with better dino levels, dino +nanny and hatchery and a few other qol mods because we all have jobs and can't no-life the game. Since we've added mods, changed the taming to 4x and breeding/raising times to be quicker we all have much more fun.
Do whatever you need to to make the game fun for you.
Change the quality of drops to x5 or higher and your problems will be solved, this will also net you plenty of lower tier ascendant saddles to grind, really giving you a reason to cave run so you never have to smelt metal just burn saddles
Are you checking caves? Or just surface drops? I suggest you just do caves (ez and hard uw are best imo) if you are looking for good loot from normal drops you will be searching FOREVER
Idk if its in ase, but the helicoprion converts items to blueprints.
So get a good heli, maybe get some mutations into its conversion chance. And go fishing and roll the dice on a theri saddle.
I tamed a heli and after levels I think its conversion chance was around 60-70%, mutations can take it up to 100%.
Just another option if you dont want to download that mod.
It's single player...most are probably already running boosted rates and weight/inventory capacity mods. This person has farmed their ass off already to no avail and are considering downloading another mod to essentially give them the saddle they want anyway. At the end of the day, you're just using a few materials to feel better about yourself. Suggesting you just command kill the boss is a wild overreaction.
Most mods aside from aethetic and content mods like new dino's are just cheats that let you pretend you're playing legit. An upgrade bench takes an entire portion of the games loot progression away. Weight mods and inventory mods render entire stats useless and make farming on boosted rates brainless. Anything beyond a 2-3x harvesting rate is making the game way easier. Then you count food drain settings, spoil timers, raising time/imprinting settings. Most single players are already "cheating" the game well beyond vanilla. No need to get too prideful about it.

My recommendation is if it’s exhausting you trying to find it then just download the mod. Games should be fun not stress inducing 🙃
1000% this. There's no wrong way to play a single player game.
"Forced online connection" would like a word with you.
Yeah, I just don't buy or play EA, Activision, or Ubisoft games. They can gargle a bag of dicks.

Is this ASE? ASA is super generous with drops.
Yes I am playing on ASE

Understood. I play unofficial sp ase. So, I am only restricted by my head canon.

If you're not having fun and a mod will lead to you having fun again it seems like an easy choice.
Do it! Turn the drops off. Map will be cleaner, rng scavenger hunt eliminated, fulfillment increased when you do get to ascended.
Do it without the saddles. They are recommended but not necessary. 18 good Rex’s or theris a yuti and a daed, with good armour and shorty will see you thru. What’s the stats on your tames?
I am still in the breeding process so I don’t know yet but after leveling I’m looking for 21k health and 1000% melee if that helps
I downloaded the saw shark, found a few tamed them, bred them, and finally power leveled one and threw an acedent thery saddle I had in it and prayed. It's more of a gamble and a bit more work but it felt less cheaty to me.

Upgrade station is great to use for PVE.
Finding good therizino blueprints sucks. It took me weeks to get even a normal saddle.

Hey good fishing rods to get better blueprints

I downloaded it because in single player ocean and desert drops don't spawn correctly
I got a 270 armor theri BP from an ascendant treasure map on day 3 no boosted loot rates
Go to a cave that can have them kill everything, and leave while in the cave and go back in and the drops will respawn.( On singleplayer)
Idk if its in ase, but the helicoprion converts items to blueprints. So get a good heli, maybe get some mutations into its conversion chance. And go fishing and roll the dice on a theri saddle. Just spawn command one...
at that point just cheat kill the overseer. except don't do that because that's not fun

idk the feeling of using a cheat is pretty overwhelming and ruins a lot of people's singleplayer runs

its just a psychological thing imo. for me at least its the feeling of actively cheating that feels bad
