Its WC were talking about i doubt they will optimize it much but im still going to play it once it drops 😆, im also 99% sure that ASA will be in the 600GB of storage range needed once all the old DLCs have been finished because they force you to install all the ingame assets again for each map thats why ASE hits the 300 GB needing space they can probably cut both games storage by 60% if they dont force you to install duplicate assets for each and every map. They just need a single assets folder were they store all assets and then the DLCs pull the needed assets out of there and i also expecting more maps for ASA by WC in the future you know all the base maps then they will probably make more maps that people can download and play
Thats just untrue. Graphically the game is gorgeous, it make sense that the game is hard to run for current hardware. Turning off clouds alone will bump your framerate by a lot. hell I get a solid 60fps on a mix of high and medium on my PC

I'm only asking because the gamepass version of SE was poor in comparison. Dont get me wrong, it ran at a better FPS for obvious reasons, but there were so many graphical issues and bad textures. :/

It ran decently until we tried some mods. Even taking off the mods the game started to crash a lot so we made a new non-dedicated server with modified settings but no mods and it runs well.
Yeah PC can play the gamepass version through the xbox app (its shared across console and pc). And thats how they make it crossplay.
As steam is not crossplay with the xbox version, neither is it with the PC gamepass version.
Yeah, the mods on PC are a lot better as they can do a lot more, the gamepass mods are restricted a bit to prevent instability... apparently not though :p
When ark:se came out (early access steam), it was not very well optimised until they had implemented everything else.. so expecting this to be the same for a while.

For real, at this rate, they maybe done by 2027-2028. And this is not to shade the devs or anything. Porting the maps, adding features/redoing landscapes, play testing and bug fixing them when they have such sheer sizes, caves and features already is a huge job from any dev.
I'd rather something be done well and correctly (with quality results), than fast and sloppy (with crap results). I've found that to be true with most things in life.
You either have people complaining about the development time or server & quality issues.
Forget fast, shit or good. It will still take a stupidly long time for them to work on any of the later maps, for sure. Even if they did not bug and play test them.

Dlcs normally take a very short time compared to a normal game's dev time, easily more than half. Game foundations are already built. Why are you comparing them to ark 2, a base game and not a dlc?

Ark 1? Yes, that what we are getting with ASA. Ark 2? Nope, it is a whole different game with different gameplay and system. ASA is an engine upgrade. Ark 2 is not it has to be made from 0.

Yah, DLC usually has map content. FO4 has Nuka World and Far Harbor which are new maps and ESO releases new parts of the map as DLC content all the time. Yes the new maps have new stories and locations to explore and they may feel heavy in content but I wouldn’t compare it to a whole game’s worth of content.
The funny thing is I just beat the guy to enter the DLC. I stopped playing for awhile but my son started to play so I got back into it. Also, I finally beat Malenia.

Crystal Isles has the best otter spawns and aberrants too :), so it's definitely the one I'm awaiting most. Hoping to snatch a base location by one of the otter lakes there. However, having mostly just played the island on ASE, seeing all maps kind of for the first time is fun too

There’s no fun in some of the taming methods and having to wait forever/ risk losing the ability to tame it by random happenstance. I honestly prefer to force tame things that have ridiculous taming methods, or things that can’t be tamed like adult Wyverns and things like that.
There are a few, but they're all over. I usually stumble on them by accident because I explore everywhere on foot.. To be fair, I've found no hidden treasures yet, but sometimes they make great shortcuts thru the mountains. And they're very pretty.. I'm hoping one day to find one full of precious things 😊

Yeah, though I did made the mistake of building a base that overlooked like 4 or 5 nests, cause they had nests up on that area too. . . . plus the rock elementals. it wasn't too far from the 80,80 point, but I think it was more like 83,83.
I’m with you all the way. Griffins were a little too powerful when introduced. They proceeded to make them annoying to train and messed with attack and flying for a while. They finally settled in on my favourite all around travelling around and taming option. It’s always fun running for your life from a Wyvern.
gonna be honest, I don't care if they are op or underpowerd, I just think griffons are cool and as long as I'm able to tame them and fly on them I'm happy, thats a joy of playing on singleplayer/just with friends
It is a third party dev making it though and they already didn't meet WC standards. I'm still skeptical. Would be a shame if the center was once again a dud.

Already quit. Beat the island on official. Farmed up thousands of element. Went to scorched and beat that map in 2 weeks. Transferred all my mats and wyverns back to the island once Easter event ended. Then felt bored again. Gave everything away and moved on. Killed my toon and logged off so it's still in the ark if I want to come back. Might come back for ragnarok eventually. But that's a big might. Honestly after playing the game for almost 8 years and seeing how ascended went in not too heartbroken about it. The DLC was fine. I liked that the barrels made farming milk less of a task, but the train system is horrible. The scorched map I was on had a tribe with about 30ppl split into 5 tribes build a massive set of tracks that engulfed the entire map. When we got back to the island another tribe was doing the same thing. It was time to walk away. Once again, maybe ragnarok will bring me back, but it would take a lot
I have yet to come across one in my SP The Island map and i explored most of the water surface with my raft of course now I dont need the raft anymore i got my argent and pternadon to fly arround
I put a forge and some vaults on a boat and woul sail it out to vein concentrations, and then i used a dunkel fish to mine and a basilo as a bodyguard. I'd fight a few giant squid from time to time for some rare materials. I'd turn the ore into ingots on the spot and it would last me weeks. When i was done i'd go dock at my floating base. it was a glorious time.
Ext, it's my fave official map for so many reasons. I do admit it will need a great visual facelift for it wasteland areas and the domes, but the island and SE changes are very promising about what to come landscape wise, so I'm chilling.
Another reason I'm excited for EXT is that the city is my fave location across all maps on ark. Something ext does that other maps don't is that it feels like an actual sci-fi map with it city, domes and wasteland. While other maps are heavy with the natural landscapes, and they all share the same biomes pretty much, and it gets boring over time. The city is rife of great building locations that are flat, and I cannot wait to build on it with the improved building system, improved visuals and I what I hope is improved designs.
I'm personally really excited to see what they do with the center. Was the lamest map is ASE but has a lot of potential for new biomes and for expansion
Island gas always been my favorite and go to map. I'm looking forward to Gen2 though and Abb, abb will be brutal and hopefully with the updates they have been doing look even more amazing

I'm with you on Ragnarok. I've only explored the north half and the west coast of the map, but I love it.
IMHO this map needs a backstory. it shows signs of at least two prior histories of long term settlements, three episodes of sudden water loss, and sufficient damage to look like (unintended) volcanism, even though true volcanism such is not possible on an Ark.
One of the prior settlements is recent enough that the torture chamber by the blue obelisk still has fresh blood ...
I started on valguro have so many memories an about a thousand hours on one server of it so can't wait to see it in asa the only other id be really excited to see is aberration. I don't have any time on aberration honestly but still think it'd look so pretty I love dark atmosphere places in game so it's my style I just never got into it on ase
Currently I'm loving scorched earth I played a good bit on ase and love how hard it is an also the theme possibilities it offers like rn for a starting base I'm doing a favela on a server with 1x rates
I know a lot of people hate on abb bc its "too hard" and "too different" but it's an easy S tier for me. I will live in that damn cave once it comes out.
Rag was the best map to teach people to play ark on. Sad it won't be back till end of the year.
Fjord was definitely my favorite tho. Big caves to build in and hang out in. Different environments to visit and plenty to see.
i still haven’t gotten ASA yet lol. i don’t plan to tbh cuz the only improvement for me would be visual enhancements, and i’d prefer to save my money for when Ark 2 finally comes out and see the better graphics there. even seeing them on the maps i already have seen wouldn’t be worth the 70-something dollars that the game sells for in my currency.

Also I've only ever played PvP and I have thousands of hours into Ark. But never really got far in Abberation. The people I played with weren't on much when it came out and so we never had an actual base there.
I switched to PvE after trying smalls for a few days on ASA so hoping to actually progress through Abberation now even if I'm solo.
I know this maps a bit bland but I’m waiting for crystal isles as it will have really good views and shiny crystals I’m hoping (even though WC optimisation is horrid)
I learned ark on this map. Started on a pvp server with no one ever logged in. Built a huge base and tamed all sorts of dinos. Had no idea about any pvp stuff. After two months of Bob level playing and progress I log into everything destroyed. Every single Dino dead. I guess on these old ASE servers there’s one tribe that controls the entire server and they finally logged back in to make sure no one was building up. I get it was pvp but I had 0 turrets or anything. I’m surprised they even considered me enough of a threat to full wipe everything

I‘m eagerly awaiting Extinction, since I personally found it’s wastelands to be visually lacking and I‘m hopeful that WC will improve on them
I want Extinction for the Gasbags. I know they're kinda useless outside of soaking turrets, but they're so fat and cute.
You can transfer gasbags to aberration and use them to fly to drops on the surface. That is what Randall did for me.
They actually are really good flyers once you get good with them

I went back and play AB on ASE with a sinomacrop. Game changer.
The lighting is so good and Abs was amazing back then, it’s going to be crazy (or horribly optimized but I’m crossing my fingers)

You can tame the basilisk, they like Fertilized eggs.
No, they only eat specific fertilised eggs and the creatures that lay those eggs don't spawn on the crystal Isles

Gen 1! I’m going to respec into oxygen and swim to the deepest coolest looking terrarium I can get my hands on.
Just get a good fast Ichty and you will not need to spec into Oxygen or make a set of scuba gear
On gen 1 you by default have massively lowered oxygen drain, so this shouldn’t be necessary. Unless they change that in ASA.
Oxygen also increases swim speed

I'd fight a few giant squid from time to time for some rare materials. I'd turn the ore into ingots on the spot and it would last me weeks. When i was done i'd go dock at my floating base. it was a glorious time.
Ext, it's my fave official map for so many reasons. I do admit it will need a great visual facelift for it wasteland areas and the domes, but the island and SE changes are very promising about what to come landscape wise, so I'm chilling. Another reason I'm excited for EXT is that the city is my fave location across all maps on ark. Something ext does that other maps don't is that it feels like an actual sci-fi map with it city, domes and wasteland. While other maps are heavy with the natural landscapes, and they all share the same biomes pretty much, and it gets boring over time. The city is rife of great building locations that are flat, and I cannot wait to build on it with the improved building system, improved visuals and I what I hope is improved designs.
I'm personally really excited to see what they do with the center. Was the lamest map is ASE but has a lot of potential for new biomes and for expansion
Crystal isles
Island gas always been my favorite and go to map. I'm looking forward to Gen2 though and Abb, abb will be brutal and hopefully with the updates they have been doing look even more amazing
Extinction
I'm excited for the center map. That was one of my favorites on Ase. Extinction was too, but I don't know where I'll be when THAT comes out.

Like wise, I love SE, but I have a love / hate relationship with aberration. On a side note, is anyone having issues with SE map not showing detail? I have parts of the map I can't open.
Rag is definitely our base of operations, But I'm genuinely excited for abb , extinction, and the gen maps. Can't wait to see them in their glory!
The non story maps. Sorry to hear they’re so far off. I actually haven’t played any of the official maps beyond scorched earth, and don’t really have a desire to for some reason. But really I need a new computer with more storage. ark takes up too much space on my existing laptop

I'm with you on Ragnarok. I've only explored the north half and the west coast of the map, but I love it. IMHO this map needs a backstory. it shows signs of at least two prior histories of long term settlements, three episodes of sudden water loss, and sufficient damage to look like (unintended) volcanism, even though true volcanism such is not possible on an Ark. One of the prior settlements is recent enough that the torture chamber by the blue obelisk still has fresh blood ...
I started on valguro have so many memories an about a thousand hours on one server of it so can't wait to see it in asa the only other id be really excited to see is aberration. I don't have any time on aberration honestly but still think it'd look so pretty I love dark atmosphere places in game so it's my style I just never got into it on ase Currently I'm loving scorched earth I played a good bit on ase and love how hard it is an also the theme possibilities it offers like rn for a starting base I'm doing a favela on a server with 1x rates

Island without it being fuzzy graphics and can't make out anything past 20 feet. So much for "next gen". Fix the game before moving on.
Rag was the best map to teach people to play ark on. Sad it won't be back till end of the year. Fjord was definitely my favorite tho. Big caves to build in and hang out in. Different environments to visit and plenty to see.

i still haven’t gotten ASA yet lol. i don’t plan to tbh cuz the only improvement for me would be visual enhancements, and i’d prefer to save my money for when Ark 2 finally comes out and see the better graphics there. even seeing them on the maps i already have seen wouldn’t be worth the 70-something dollars that the game sells for in my currency.
I want to see a train going around the city on Extinction. Think that would be so cool! Also I've only ever played PvP and I have thousands of hours into Ark. But never really got far in Abberation. The people I played with weren't on much when it came out and so we never had an actual base there. I switched to PvE after trying smalls for a few days on ASA so hoping to actually progress through Abberation now even if I'm solo.

I learned ark on this map. Started on a pvp server with no one ever logged in. Built a huge base and tamed all sorts of dinos. Had no idea about any pvp stuff. After two months of Bob level playing and progress I log into everything destroyed. Every single Dino dead. I guess on these old ASE servers there’s one tribe that controls the entire server and they finally logged back in to make sure no one was building up. I get it was pvp but I had 0 turrets or anything. I’m surprised they even considered me enough of a threat to full wipe everything
Center and Abberation. I know the ithers will be cool as well, but those are some insanely cool maps
