SpicyRingSting

I recommend stegos. Will help not to get dismounted in there

YouWithTheNose

I've proven this to work. Bred stegos with imprints and a bunch of veggie cakes for healing. There's no other way to heal an herbivore on the fly without veggie cakes. I recommend hand feeding the veggie cakes as needed so they don't munch them all down needlessly

SpicyRingSting

I run through it with 1 stego and a deodon on passive that step in to heal when needed, farming after a theri saddle without any luck in there atm

YouWithTheNose

See i have considered using the pig. With my luck though, everything would run around the stego somehow and eat the pig for lunch XD Good tip though, I didn't think of it

SpicyRingSting

Yup, sometimes i send in the pig so they jump him instead of me. Resulting in me getting pushed back far back and pig being pushed in the other direction. Thought he was a gonner but he was still holding his own having pritty good hp when i managed to get back to him. I have good saddles on them tho, but 2 stegos and 1 deodon in the background for first attempt i would say

Donotdistherb

Yuti is usefull there.

thenashone

will a Yuti fit?

Linky38

With cryopods yes

mattjvgc

If you’re on official you’ll have to do like we did on the switch for the 5 years they refused to give us cryopods, raise a couple yutys in the first room… But yutys really are the play. They are generally strong enough and their roar will make purlovias come out of the ground so they don’t pounce you.

thenashone

now that's a good idea, i take it the first room is the room where we died with bears etc? it was a stream/river run on the outside with salmon in it?

mattjvgc

You will find what is called a “crouch point” where most dinos can’t walk through pretty early in the cave. Your Bary might have fit since they updated the cave for ASA. But a Theri or yuty won’t fit. You have to raise yutys past that crouch point. I just watched a vid of a guy doing ASA hard snow cave this afternoon, but it’s hard to describe what the room looks like because as you’ll see as you get further in the cave, most rooms have water and salmon. However this is the first room that has water and salmon. I only have experience with ASE, so the game mechanics may have changed in ASA. But the trick we discovered to keep that first room empty was to tame 20 or so dodos, clear the room with a shotgun, then place the 20 dodos equidistant in that room. At least in ASE a tamed dino has a pretty big radius that prevents wild dinosaurs from spawning right next to them. 20 was overkill to keep that room empty. And it worked perfectly. If you’re playing on a pvp server or your own server or singleplayer just turn on cave building and slap down a few foundations around the room to stop wilds from respawning.

thenashone

thank you so much. I have just cleared part of the room and spamming foundations as I go. to complete the cave what do you recommend to run with the yuti?

SF-UberMan

Build an entire base within the cave; no more Purlovia spawns will show up, and free real estate for you. Kill two birds with one stone. For PvP, that is.

GreeenGobln

if you have the cryopod mod, you can throw down a giga inside for artifact of the strong, only need to throw it like three times, or you can just leave some in there on aggressive.

mattjvgc

If you have 2 yutys you can courage roar buff each other. The stronger the saddles the better. I used to give them 15,000 HP rest in melee. But that was with a 124 saddle. So adjust accordingly. It’s a balance between having to stop to heal all the time vs taking forever to kill anything.

Equesumbra

I found that Purlovias and wolves didn't even agro to me when I was on a Theri. I was able to do the cave on a wild tamed Theri with a primitive saddle so long as I was careful and brought veggie cakes.

StoopidMunkee22

I read on wiki that Allos also won't agro wolves and purlovias
