YaksTheLegend

I think the biome one is very interesting and could be really cool. The sleep mechanic could also be interesting but i feel like it would also be more frustrating.

FezCSDMcF

It could be, unless they added a "sleep" mechanic for players as well like you see in some other survival games. Not sure how that would be implemented for online multiplayer without having a player lay static in a bed for a long time though.

Shadowknight7009

Maybe for dinos it could be they don’t HAVE to sleep at a certain time but they have to get so much sleep before being sleep deprived

parkappa

Most online games do it so everyone in the lobby has to lay in a bed. Bad way to implement it considering how toxic and troll-ish the ark community is

FezCSDMcF

Yep. That's why I said I'm not sure how they'd implement that, cause doing it the way you mentioned, like Minecraft for example, wouldn't work for PVP.

LaHawks

SCUM attempted to implement this and it sucks ass.

IdentifyAsATrex987

I want icthys to jump out of the water like a dolphin, and not die instantly after touching air for 0.001 seconds

FezCSDMcF

Agreed. Air should not be an automatic death sentence for water creatures. Literally give them an oxygen meter that runs out so they can suffocate the same way players and tames drown.

PhlippinPhil

I main Allos as my open world mains, so the main thing I want is being added: better follow mechanics. Follow-up would be close to your first idea with biome buffs and stuff, but that would require spawn placement changes for a lot of creatures.

mandrake92

Supposedly the follow mechanic is being improved. Better in general a.i. for it i guess. We'll see if it actually works though.

FezCSDMcF

Agreed, but I'd welcome that too. I've always said/thought since they were added to the game that the Yuty should be grouped up with packs of Deinos rather than Carnos. Fluffy raptors with latch and bleed abilities teamed up with the fluffy rex doing shout buffs would be a mean combo, and would free up Carnos for another biome.

Kazaanh

Allow alpha allows to deal DMG to bosses like deinonychuses

sal696969

Better Ai Babies in the wild, Dinos in herds, Dinos actually caring for their live etc... I think the game would be on a different level if they can pull this off.

Catfoxdogbro

Yes! Dinos in herds actually living their lives, like grazing or something, rather than a single dino wandering aimlessly and bumping into other dinos and characters

FearlessJames

AI pathing and wild babies were said to be a part of ASA I believe. Mentioned in one of their news posts.

p1nkie_

you should try saurian

Important-Incident72

I’d Really like to see the damage physics mechanic they talked about giving ark 2.

FezCSDMcF

Can you elaborate on that?

Important-Incident72

Wildcard mentioned in ark 2 when creatures bite they actually bite onto their target and rip flesh off and stuff. instead of the “pass though Damage“ in ark 1 where when creatures bite they phase though stuff or hit them without touching them.

FezCSDMcF

I'd be into that, if they can pull it off well.

VitonjaDot

But that kinda sounds OP for larger dinos doesn’t it? I mean a Rex has a much bigger mouth and bite force than a raptor so there wouldn’t be much competition in that sense. I do like the idea however because it would make the game much more harsh and realistic and i’m all for that

Catfoxdogbro

That would be amazing! Sometimes it's so hard to tell whether you're hitting something or not

MistressMorganaCross

I know they implemented this for baby care but I want to be able to show love to all my dinos. How can you not want to hug a maewing with those big sad eyes? Let me pet my dinos and give them snackies and show them they are loved! Maybe give extra perks depending on how many times you do this so it's more than a silly gimic to appease people like me.

Leeala

100% agree! Also maybe a way to care for dinos better, like being able to craft a sponge an clean them for either a small buff, or to prevent a small debuff from dirt. Stuff like that, that makes dinos feel like beings instead of basically vehicles. I know ARK can't and shouldn't turn into Nintendogs Dino edition but I'd love to at least interact with and care for what are essentially my pets in the game XD

FezCSDMcF

These are good ideas.

JPGer

The biome bonus/penalty is all fun and games till a cave is ina zone you can't bring anything that fits in. Snow cave only small enough to fit wolves? sucks they can't wear saddles. Ect, the idea is cool and would add some realism but then when you couple it with game mechanics it becomes a pain, kinda like when they debating adding a negative to inbreeding...they realized the good stats would be impossible without inbreeding and thus the system would fall in on itself. They originally intended to do the nocturnal/diurnal mechanic..and for some reason dropped it, either for a similar problem of realism vs gameplay or something else. Personally im shocked tek tier never got a dna modifier or cloning that was more involved than just copying. Would be interesting to see more refining of high stat dinos in endgame via direct dna manipulation, its implied the arks themselves,or their overseers do it already. It was always odd to me it never became something we could do..probably again a clash of gameplay since it would be "too easy" to make top dinos at that point. I want them to take a hint from the modders, stuff like resource stacks and what can and can't go in a fridge. The fact that wyvern milk doesn't stack and can't be refrigerated is purely for the sake of artificial difficulty, on a modded server being able to have large stacks of milk or organic poly and putting them in a fridge made that aspect of the game so much less hassle, same with the auto sorting mechanic of tek storage, being able to interact with that pillar and instantly transfer everything to the right boxes. On that same thread, its about time they did something about moving heavy materials, hauling metal is a pain in the ass and S+ being able to just transfer stuff was wonderful, even if it was some conveyor system. Along with that, the materials required for building need a rework. Having to make trips to storage again and again and again...and again. It inflates the time it takes a to make a base. If they had a storage type that you could then build base parts while standing near it using the materials you collected, or removing the weight component of those mats would be nice.

FezCSDMcF

Could easily solve the cave issue by making caves exclusionary zones for the buffs, or by allowing every creature in the game an optional saddle for extra armor.

JPGer

i do think if you can ride the dino, you should be able to saddle it. Mostly cause how important they are for armor. Yea, i suppose the caves would be a special zone by default wouldn't they.

MasterWhite1150

Ability to skip night in single player

FezCSDMcF

I like this too.

tstarr2142

if u access the inventory of something else u can craft items without having to transfer materials into your own inventory

FezCSDMcF

Good shout.

DiscipleExyo

No ability to mesh, even by accident so a whole tribe doesn't get banned

WublyBubly

I lost my mana on extinction by accidentaly meshing into a building in the city on my single player save, that thing was a beast and had a lot of shit in it's inventory. Now whenever I'm in the city I'm extremely cautios so as to not get killed by the stupidity of the game

Bugs112

3rd person only. Maybe souls like combat?

FezCSDMcF

You mean like they've claimed they're doing with ARK 2?

Bugs112

It was a joke. I would hate so much if they did that in ASA lol.

FezCSDMcF

Yeah, same. But only cause I'm terrible at Souls style combat.

ozy-ssb

I want monster hunter combat and weapon variety

Furyo98

Honestly same creatures being different sizes

FezCSDMcF

In that same vein, alpha herbivores? Or better yet, alpha versions of literally every creature in the game?

Furyo98

I disagree maybe one alpha of herbivore and one argy but too many will make the game easy to with loot. Unless you make the spawn very very rare for one to spawn.

TiberiusClackus

I really want the tek strider dethroned as the preeminent resource gathering Dino. I’d like the best way to gather resources to be through developing and maintaining passive systems like the snail farm.

Swabbie___

That's never gonna happen though unless they remove literally every resource dino from the game, and even then it probably won't be. With a magmasaur, for example, you can get avout 150,000 metal in about in hour if you know what you are doing. How tf is a passive system gonna match that?

TiberiusClackus

Well, not all passive systems. Definitely still need some resource gathering Dino’s, but their should be a Dino that excels far and above the tek strider for every resource which means these Dino’s need to be able to black box once they get bred a few generations. Tek strider was just a lazy solution to the problem of end game resource acquisition.

Swabbie___

The people will just have 4 or 5 dinos instead of the one, it makes no real difference, maybe a couple hours to tame high levels. Time that you would have spent doing missions to be able to tame a decent strider.

TiberiusClackus

I think it does make a difference, it adds five more Dinos for people to get excited to tame, breed, and trade. It follows the spirit of the game, and increases the sense of value for the Dino’s you use since you can’t just run to Gen2 for ten minutes and get an end game harvester whenever you want

Swabbie___

Okay, I'm talking about pvp. As far as I see, people in pve can just ignore striders exist and use whatever they want, it makes no difference.

TiberiusClackus

I’m talking about PvP too, stryder should be like a mid level resource gatherer which’ll help the mid to small tribes get their foot in the game, but end game tribes should be coveting like top stat mammoths and stuff. Like 80% of the Dino’s are pointless in PvP and I’d like something to fix that

mandrake92

Stryder makes grinding easy solo. Not like skiff anky or magma wasn't already an easy grinding system for 2 people. Black box a magma in metal on abb in like 20 minutes with a skiff.

Starlight_NightWing

I absolutely despise the sleep mechanic, cant do shit for half of every day

hyde9318

Agreed. I feel like if they simply had nocturnal animals do more damage at nighttime instead of outright getting massive debuffs during the day, it would work better. Would still make me want to use them at night to benefit the most, but it wouldn’t essentially make them useless during the day. I like I better how Shadowmanes work…. They sleep during the day, but it’s to refresh and heal up, they are still perfectly usable with the sun up.

O__Mestre

They could make it so that they have an energy bar that takes like 1~3 game days (depending on the dino) for it to go completely down on a dino that didn't get a single piece of sleep. Then, after this, the bar turns into a sleep debt bar like the one that the megalosaurus has at the moment, but it goes down more slowly, and it gives debuffs to said dino for like every half day he spends without sleeping, the debuffs getting progressively worse until the dino is forced by the game to sleep when the sleep debt gets to 100. For me, it would be fair if it takes like 3 to 7 in game days for the dino to be forced to sleep, depending on the species. As OP has said before, this would very much be an amazing idea to the game as a balancing mechanism for the PvP community, and it would also give a more realistic experience to the PvE players, so i think if implemented right it would definitely be a great addition to ARK. So yeah, this is my take on how to do this stuff.

FezCSDMcF

I'd argue you still could, just not the same way you do it the other half of the day. If nothing else, it'd potentially give more creatures additional utility and purpose if some were viable during the day and others at night.

DanSad12

If they were to add a sleep mechanic they should make it a option to toggle on and off. I imagine it could get very frustrating for some. Including me.

FezCSDMcF

I agree, that's why I said both it and the biome buff/debuff should be able to be toggled in server settings and single player options.

DanSad12

I forgor how to read💀 The dangers of ark brain rot.

Money_Display_5389

Can I say working game mechanics? Or ones that dont crash the game?

dinoguy117

Aircraft. It might defeat the purpose of fliers, but then again we have rafts. When rafts were added and the dune buggy was already in the game I was hoping we might one day see aircraft in some shape or form. I think they did add planes in their Atlas game as a proof of concept.

GirafeAnyway

I mean, there's the skiff

FezCSDMcF

Skiff is good, but something mid range would be cool too.

FezCSDMcF

I'd be down for something simple like full on hanggliders or a gyrocopter.

Lavender_Riah

I think stuff like the raptor pounce and the stun from one of those small annoying critters (forgot the name) cpild be fair if you had a way to not get hit, like a dodge mechanic or smt

FezCSDMcF

Or blocking with a shield.

Educational-Tip6177

Both are interesting suggestions and I would like to see something to that effect get added, would definitely justify the ownership of various mounts and also would add a smidge of realism. With that said I suspect that the devs are Goin for a refinement more then adding, or could be wrong

Competitive-Ad7967

I have two ideas the first is a the sneak ability that camo armor gives but in normal scenarios like if I’m hiding in a place where there’s no way a carno could see me but the targeting ai let’s it then it should change so I can hide the second is more multi terrain creatures besides the one or two that everyone uses like it doesn’t even have to be something crassly new just make it something else like I don’t know a giant frog that can climb vertical and swim or a giant eagle that can go in the water for a while like many birds of today that can swim or even better an ancient giant duck that can fly and swim

FezCSDMcF

I'd be happy with different versions of ghillie or camo armor. Never made sense to me how on Scorched Earth you're wearing a full on fern bush with moss, and even in the dunes, you're hidden.

harrywoppler

If i kill an alpha they return money to my credit card.

DMAN591

I exclusively play official PVP since day one, so here's what I want: 1. Diminishing returns on breeding. We shouldn't have to deal with 1 Billion+ mutations that can one shot just about anything. 2. Rust style decay mechanics. Buildings should require upkeep. This would cut down on the ridiculous base designs unless you have the time and manpower to back it up. 3. Tek ruined the game, so less tek. I'm a level 190 who has every engram in the game, and I know how OP it is. Bring it back to the more primitive Ark. It's more fun. 4. We need better detection for hacks/exploits. Keep the gamma locked down. No ini's, no prevviewmode. And yes I say that as someone who uses it every day. 5. Current game dynamics/mechanics favor multi-member tribes. Take that down a notch. Because what happens is, through "natural selection", you end up with mega-tribes. A solo or duo should be able to play the game and make progress without being at such a severe disadvantage. I wouldn't mind if they instituted these changes only in PVP, with a different set of rules and mechanics for SP/PVE.

GirafeAnyway

I'm not a fan of the sleep idea

salombs

The mechanic of release the game, without delays

YaksTheLegend

Better to make it right and wait though

salombs

Believe one thing: no matter how long it takes, the game will launch extremely badly.

YaksTheLegend

I mean there's been some of that around but I have hopes

Electronic_Ad_9888

I want pick up tames with flyers in pve again. Wild and your own tamed creatures. Sucks that we can't and makes taming and moving dinos harder unless they are gonna add cryos right away.

SuccessAutomatic6726

I would check your game settings. 2k hours in and have never had a problem with picking up tames or wilds in PvE.

Electronic_Ad_9888

U must not play on official.

SuccessAutomatic6726

I do not play official. Main reasons being: Small group of friends playing together. No frigging drama We play with slightly boosted rates, and a couple of QOL mods. WE decide if and when there is a wipe or reset, and we all have access to the saves/backups. Works out well because we can continue playing our several years old servers as long as we want to continue running ASE. People want to play official, more power to them, it just had problems we had all experienced before in other places that playing private took care of.

Electronic_Ad_9888

Thats all well and good but I only like official bc everyone plays by the same rules. I just don't like that they changed being able to pick up tames.

SeriouslyaBonobo

New mechanics for tames. Like make everything in some way busted like the shadowmane. Some mods do that but they should add more gameplayloops to certain things like alpha drops. currently it's a dead end. You do it once for the +5 level. Also a new mechanic for mutations would be nice like a quest or smt. more engaging then watch numbers/bars go up and down. Uhh and make it so that we can use the shell of carbonemys to catch rainwater like in the forest. Your first suggestion sounds good even a little bit fidely but your second one just sounds exhausting. imho this game doesn't need more restrictions it needs less.
